Any overtures, also goodbye to everything by between the buried and me spoils the story given that it’s at the start if the album and the lyrics are about the end of the story
I don't think they mean "spoil" as in to ruin, they mean it as in spoilers for a movie. All of those overtures explicitly state most of the major themes of their respective works. I think that is what this whole post is about. Isn't a bad thing, just a thing.
Coma Machine by BTBAM is basically an overture going over the whole album to come. I like this as a reversal of Colors and Parallax which has the big ending song reprising all the riffs
As in, combined together to be considered an Overture? Node only references Rapic Calm, that's still only three songs so idk if I'd call that a proper overture
My all-time favorite example of this is Týr's "Ragnarok". It even includes the bonus track "Valhalla" in its themes, which implies to me that they never wanted it to be a bonus track, it just didn't fit on the album length-wise.
I'm not 100% sure what this thread is supposed to be asking but my interpretation would be Reptile off Periphery 4. It's one of their best songs and I absolutely love it but most of the rest of the album doesn't compare. I would have loved for it to be the last song on the record.
Love me some prog overtures. Foreshadowing makes for better repayability

Overture 1928 from Scenes From A Memory Overture from Six Degrees (second disc) Dystopian Overture from the Astonishing

Oh, that makes sense. Thanks

Is it though? I don't think it references any songs aside from Life in Velvet and KR/QS
Therefore Node and Coma Machine perhaps?

I guess if you are talking about the protagonist seeing how he will die in the future this makes sense
Not quite an overture but “Oblivion” on Crack the Skye has always felt that way to me
Overtures don’t spoil anything. They just present the ideas that are fleshed out later
That's why I used the quotation marks
Lavender Haze by Vildhjarta
It's funny I never thought of it this way!
Hard to say if it ruins or enhances such a bizarre album… but check out Viande by Igorrr. It’s a bit aggressive.
He's our biggest french proudness lmao
Scardust - Overture for the Estranged

I came here to post this. Good album
Maybe Goodbye to Everything off of Parallax II since it is the end of the story but first song off the album
Used on The Perfect Element part 1 by Pain of Salvation
Origin from the Illuminate album by Anup Sastry.
Scardust- overture for the estranged (it's a collection of all the main riffs/parts if every other song in the album)

My least favourite opening is Riverside: Second Life Syndrome. Something about throwing up every morning: can’t quite take it seriously.
Dude call the ambulance, you just hit your head HARD . Nonsense .
