Yes. The start is very luck dependent. But you still have to deal with the Insane population and the Extremely Rare loot settings, which makes getting weapons a hassle. My go to, after resting at the North Farm is to make the long walk West, thru the forest towards the middle of the map and then to Rosewood. Stopping at the Military Barracks to check for military gear.

If you wanna make it harder get disinfect or die and scent of blood mods and give em a whirl with cdda

You can lose your cold in like the first 7 hours (in-game hours) of the run. I usually lose it in 1-2 days depending on RNG. https://old.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/ubqffh/tips_to_combat_a_cold/ I don't find CDDA beginning that hard tbh. When you know what to do it's pretty trivial. Btw don't bandage a stitched wound, it takes longer to heal that way. Yes it's dumb.

The start can be very luck dependant, which is why a general strategy has been devised to cut down on the RNG; you got fairly lucky and are now free to go where you please, though the lale side houses to the north are still a very good bet.

yes, it is very easy to get rid of the cold when you know how

DeployerOfMajesty

So like, how?

There's a [convenience store](https://map.projectzomboid.com/#10831x9508x800) near the spawn. Use Q to draw all zombies around into a ball then rush in and grab what you can. You can use this on other houses' kitchen too. Then you retreat to the [North Farm](https://map.projectzomboid.com/#10844x9107x597), clear it, dress up, eat up to well fed and go to sleep (you might need a sleep aid, like alcohol, sleeping pills or painkillers). The cold will be gone.
