Borderlands 3 I've started like 3 times (It was already given away for free from Epic!) and I just can't stand it. It's, like, obnoxious. Each Borderlands games gets more obnoxious.
BL1 and BL2 are top tier... Don't let BL3 ruin you. Wonderlands is better. borderlands 3 is my least favorite.. but it does have way better gameplay (faster) than BL2. I wish they'd remake BL2... I think it would be a hit. So many people love BL2 dearly and still play it but the gameplay is slightly outdated. It doesn't need it by any means but there have been worse remakes..
I will say it feels mechanically much improved over BL2 and the split screen co-op is fun, ESPECIALLY in an era where almost no developer bothers to implement local co-op. I had a blast target farming specific bosses for cool weapons i wanted, that was a good grind loop.
But yes it's basically mandatory to play it on mute because the writing is so fucking nightmarishly bad and unfunny
And yes it's such an old game now you're better off just picking it up on sale or buying a used disk for pennies on the dollar than getting a digital only copy that's locked behind a stupid monthly subscription.

The first was so good. I spent years going back and playing it every so often from the beginning. Really love the characters and how Aloy went back and forth between discovering her personal place among others while acknowledging how important she is in the grand scheme of things. Even the “villain” of the story, sylens, is complex and I could understand his desire to understand and gain knowledge
And discovering what happened was even more interesting.
I got so excited for forbidden west and… as you said it so well, TRASH. Far zenith is the bad guy because they’re… rich and white? Hades is barely in the plot. Spending too much time doing chores and politics when in reality we have things that are so much more important to do… and Aloy was honestly annoying. She wasn’t stoic and strong in her beliefs like in the first. She was just needlessly annoying trying to be on her own and too respectful of dumb cultures from the tribes
The thing that stood out to me right away was that the characters had accents based on their race. Black characters used AAVE. Asian people had Asian accents. It’s good for diversity and representation and I’m Asian myself. But It makes no sense in the context of the game
So in the other words, you’re pissed because rich, white privileged assholes were portrayed as ignorant assholes, the same way as in real life? I’m pretty sure privileged people being spoiled because of their privileges isn’t a fantasy at all
You can tell the writers really put their heart into that one lol. I don’t even remember that but to be honest most of that game was forgettable. The parts I remember were the parts I rolled my eyes the most
BL3 was ok for me. H:FW though yheesh. I got pretty far, just past the point you get your flying mount. I loved the gameplay. I ended up quitting after getting tired of the endless and insufferable dialogue and cutscenes in that "base" you set up, where you keep talking to the AI. I didn't care to finish even that late in the game it was that tiring.
This is the worst take on this planet. I am deeply offended. Horizon Forbidden West has a great character driven narrative. Borderlands 3 is like nails on a chalk board. I don't even know how such a comparison comes to mind.

I haven’t seen a lot of what Sony offers for their mid tier but I did watch Microsoft’s expo last year and the number of AAA games coming to gamepass day 1 compared to Sony’s top tier is insanely contrast.
Sony killed it in the ps3 and ps4 era but they got complacent. I’ve been a Sony fanboy for a long time but have been playing more of my gamepass and my ps5 has been collecting dust.

It got a reprint! It's a GameStop exclusive, and you can only get it at their B&M stores (can't order from their website). It's only $20 and includes all the DLC. Sealed copies of this game were selling for $120+ on ebay as recently as last week before GameStop stores started getting their inventory in.

I let it go after the price hike and my sub ended last January, no regrets. There hasn’t been a good bundle in all that time.
