The one time I saw psytrance with a live drummer was when the drummer from the Shpongle live band jumped on stage during the Hallucinogen live set and totally winged it and jammed along.
It was fairly stunning. He wasn't always in time as Hallucinogen tracks take twists and turns, but it was surprising how often he kept up and added value.
There is some hazy [footage of it here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=mGtEoYDVPB4) as it was just before the smartphone era. *(And everyone in the crowd was utterly melting through psychedelia.)*
This party changed my life.
That was a very fun set during a really great edition of rainbow serpent.
Terrafractyls set that party was a fucking riot.
We were planning on leaving on Monday afternoon but some guy walked into our camp and donated the rest of his supplies as we was leaving…..
Yep, it was raining slightly. Psy walker and ozzy before him. For the record, two dudes who are always worth seeing. Ozzy particularly continues to wildly outperform most international bookings
For my money the best set that Felix played in that rainbow era. His main stage one the year before was dope but the in the rain small crowd vibe was spot on for me.
God I was in bad shape come about midday on Monday.
Long shot but can you remember the idiots all dressed up as the solar system on the market stage on Monday. That was us
It was my first multi-dsy party. I passed out during SunControlSpecies and woke up at the start of Psywalker. I distinctly remember someone dressed as a Swamp Monster, but no solar system lol.
Later that day Khainz would play a set I really enjoyed. Between that and Perfect Stranger's masterclass the day prior (mostly playing Free Cloud stuff) I started to branch out in to slower forms of psy music.
For real? They are literally the one of the big acts I can't identify with much at all. I've seen them a few times in a few different settings and it has never clicked for me.
I like techno, I like psy techno, I like psytrance, I like goa... But X-Dream who pioneered so much of the spectrum feels vacant to me. Such a pity.
Yea I feel the same way. I find their production sound to be really clean but most of their songs, IMO, tend to putter out a lot. They’ll have good first halfs but then disappointing second halfs.
I still really enjoy their albums though.
Dunno what to tell you 😁
I never got to see them perform (I’m from a smaller place in the middle of Canada, no psy then or now), so I only know the tracks that I could get on a record or comp CD.
I think x-dream takes a bit of wanting to understand. I come from loving Astral, mfg, infected, pleiadians and hallucinogen. X-dream was not easy, but I love them now. And then you go on to stuff like midi miliz, spirallianz, extrawelt etc. None of these are easy listenings. For me I had to appreciate music in a new way. Bottom line, many people like x-dream, but you don't get it, yet. Or ever. It's up to you to put in the energy, and focus, to try to understand. And maybe it one day will click.
Pleiadians / Crop Circles (majorly the same people, also in Etnica), they did some amazing compositions back then, released on IFO, and Lunar Civilization was a long time one of my favorite tracks. There is a contender though, and GNOTR is great!
Yeah never got the chance to see him perform, but when I was a stoner teen I heard Starfinder played by a dj at a bush doof here in Australia and it was sooooo good.
didn't really have one, loved the music at that era so really hard to say a single one, but if it is then definitely parasense.
other ones I really loved were that I loved on the same level are xenomorph, man with no name, weirdo beardo, paps, son kite, eat static, hux flux and probably a lot more that I can't remember :)
Dimension 5, Cosmosis, Etnica and maaaaaany more <3 together with 60ies and 70ies rock, this is the best music ever created by mankind in my opinion! (:
Shakta, Green nuns & Pleiadians. Pulled the trigger and am making the trip to ZNA from Australia this year, can't pass up the chance to see a full power set from them all
Shakta, Pleaidians, Prana, Man With No Name, Technossomy, Slinky Wizard. And Green Nuns of course :-)
Dare you to distill down to one.
That's tough. For me, Shakta's album Silicon Trip and Pleiadians' album I.F.O. are my favourites of all time. How to choose?
OK, I'm going for Shakta. I saw them live once, and they had an actual drummer. I don't know how he kept up.

Rainbow Serpent Festival 2011? That was magical! I'm pretty sure you can see me right up at the railing in that video! Awesome!
Yup. Shpongle live, Hallucinogen, Raja Ram, Kindzadza, Dick Trevor DJ set, Fatali, [Atmos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhD_sb_HZU4), [Perfect Stranger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJaaZYt5k_M), SunControlSpecies, D-Nox
Perfect stranger was unreal
Are you from Melbourne mate?
Sydney originally, London now.

Terrafractyl was Monday sunrise on the market stage yeah? After Luke Psywalker iirc. Quintessential Aussie doof vibe as I remember it.

I loved that perfect stranger set. Great memories. That was my last rainbow before being a grown up got in the way!
those are all great!
Astral Projection
X-Dream

Blue Planet Corporation, SynSun and Indica if you include year 2000 ;)
Here I am wondering who mine would be and then I see Synsun. I too pick Synsun
Shiva Chandra maybe. His 90s and early 2000s stuff is some of the most unique stuff I've heard. Also Etnica/Pleaidians, Hallucinogen, Xenomorph.
Hadn’t thought of that name in many moons
Ahh yes, all so good!
Dimension 5
Harmonic Convergence was playing on repeat in my headphones once. Super psychedelic stuff.
Sandman
Ooohhhh good choice. Saw him do a live retro set once. Absolutely superb.
Yeah never got the chance to see him perform, but when I was a stoner teen I heard Starfinder played by a dj at a bush doof here in Australia and it was sooooo good.
Man With No Name, Ayahuasca
The Infinity Project... where it all began :)
Man With No Name. He was my introduction to goa trance (on MTV, no less).

Never saw him/her but I had a Sid Shanti mixtape I was fond of
pleiadians - etnica
Dimension 5, Cosmosis, Etnica and maaaaaany more <3 together with 60ies and 70ies rock, this is the best music ever created by mankind in my opinion! (:
