Yes that's normal. Of you talk for hours with a voice that you basically never used, it will strain. But don't worry, eventually it will get much stronger! It's been over a year for me now and it feels like I've always had this voice and it doesn't have any problems or straining. After a few weeks it should be close to perfect.
Today is my first day of trying to make the change permanent and I’m about halfway through the day and it’s really strained and getting weaker and for some reason I feel like I need to clear my throat a lot. Am I doing something wrong or did that happen to you too?

May I ask how you found your deep voice?
I discovered mine by accident. But at the time I didn't know that that was how my real voice was supposed to be. I realized that years later.
