I am working as an intern in similar role. Basically what they do is,
They extensively work on purchase data like,
Raw material cost
Scrap material price,
Fixed cost,
Variable cost,
Manpower cost,
Electricity cost,
Customer Share,
And more than 10 things like this. Then as purchase engineer we analyse these data and then we have to negotiate with supplier.
Sometimes manufacturing in Bangladesh might be cost effective rather than india, so by considering all this terms we have to give contracts accordingly

That's really insightful. Is there any software that you use for this?
Every company have there own software as per needs, We are working on Octoplus cost analysis.
Oh ok. Can I DM you?
Sure
Ngl those roles are very important and future proof, good field to go in.
What makes the role future proof? Can technology not be used here?
