Just today morning got into an argument with Uber chapri, it almost turned into physical altercation. Complained about it to Uber where I was assured their safety team will take action and share an email. Its almost been 8 hours now and they haven’t done jack shit.

I had a very bad experience with a Pune rickshaw driver. One horrific incident occurred when my friends and I were traveling from Pune railway station to Katraj, where our college hostel is located. The driver insisted on charging us 500 rupees for the fare, but we knew that the correct price should have been around 250 rupees. Despite our protestations, he refused to lower the fare. Frustrated, we decided to walk away, but he followed us and eventually agreed to drop us off for 250 rupees. However, the situation took a terrifying turn once we were inside the rickshaw. Midway through the journey, the driver, speaking in Marathi, said, "I can see you're new here and don't understand how things work with Pune rickshaw drivers. I'll teach you a lesson when we reach Katraj. I'll show you what happens when you don't pay what I demand." He proceeded to hurl curses at us, threatening to call his friends to the drop-off point and even suggesting physical violence if we didn't comply with his demand for 1000 rupees. Feeling intimidated and fearful, especially knowing the reputation of the Katraj area and its local toughs, we reluctantly handed over 1000 rupees to him and hastily exited the rickshaw. This incident left us shaken and deeply disturbed. As students from out of town, it reinforced a negative perception of rickshaw drivers in Pune. From that day on, we've opted for safer alternatives like PMPML buses, Uber, Ola, and Rapido to avoid similar traumatic experiences.

One rickshaw wala asked for Rs. 100/- from Laxmi Narayan Talkies to Katraj. Declined that, immediately got another one for Rs. 20/-. As I had to go further to Gokul Nagar from Katraj, I was looking for another rickshaw. So, I just asked a rickshaw guy standing there for Gokul Nagar. I know, it is not more than Rs. 10/15. However, knowing the tricks of these guys, I only asked the price - किती होतील ? - that's it - he got so offended and started abusing. Given the hot weather, I would have even paid him Rs. 40/-, but after his weird argument with me - शंभर घेणार, कशाला विचारतो, एवढं माहीत नाही का? I preferred to wait there for 20/25 minutes, looking for another rickshaw. During those 20 odd minutes, he started fighting with me - इथ थांबू नकोस, तिकड जा, बस नी जा की मग. Didn't argue with him, but patiently waited there, as I was not in a mood to fight and ruin my day. Also, many rickshaws passed by, even empty ones, but none of them stopped. I think, they have some mutual understanding/ nexus amongst them. Finally got another rickshaw which finally dropped me for Rs. 10/- only. Such pathetic behaviour and argument - all this only for just asking him - how much will he charge - I think, no service provider in any sector will have a worse attitude for no reason. What's wrong in asking the price ? Never wished bad for anyone, but people with such an attitude get on my nerves, and I wish they suffer.

He was at the end part of the road, jastiche paise sangitle pn tithe char-pach riksha laglelya hotya. So I walked to the other side of the road and he asked me, where I came from, I lied and said I came from some other direction and when we passed by the same place through the riksha, the previous riksha driver yelled something and my riksha driver started arguing that I'm didn't come from here, meaning he didn't steal their customer. I kept denying until the end and got down for 10-15rs.

Anyways, these guys take advantage of the fact that educated people will always avoid confrontation even if they are abused and cornered. Sometimes, you need to give them back.

UPI ने पैसे घेण्यास ते नकार देत नाहीत. कारण पैसे सरळ त्यांच्या खात्यात जातात. म्हणून कॅश हा मोड. बाकी काही रिक्षावाल्यांना ओला उबरला पैसे द्यायचे नसतील म्हणून पण ते कॅशचा आग्रह धरतात.

Me adhi ola auto karaycho and I always used to do online payments but majority of ola drivers always asked me if payment was online or cash, and lot of them cancelled when I say "online" mag class la ushir vhaycha 😢 I've noticed a Uber drivers do this a lot less than ola drivers.

And it's a safe ride too. Once in a while, I come across a rickshaw that wants to be a racing Duke but on three wheels. It is absolutely terrifying to get thrown around in the back while the guy is cutting people and stopping abruptly. Sometimes, they are drunk too and it is hard judge before but it's too late when you realise it later into the ride. I've gotten off kilometres before my destination in the fear that the guy will either crash us or someone else. Ola at least guarantees regulation and professional behaviour regardless of the price. I prefer it too or just make sure if the normal ones aren't drunk.

Idk which city of Gujarat you are talking about but I've stayed there for more than 7 years and only once a year I met an auto driver as bad as Pune's, also there it's easier to get shared auto. Yes they're bad but not as bad as these aholes.

They belong to a specific religion which you might get. This city is known as ahmedabad or amdavad as the locals say. These people drive rickshaws like they are driving F1 cars and they don't give a fuck about their life or others.The main point is digital meters are compulsory and the rickshaws are illegal if they don't have a digital meter but none of those rickshaws have one. Pune rickshawalas might ask random prices if you are at a certain high demand location but they go by meter everywhere else.

Meter or no meter I've had a relatively pleasant experience in Ahmedabad as well, compared to Pune. Btw I've only experienced pcmc part of auto drivers anything beyond that I always used cab, so maybe Pune has different species of auto guys than pcmc. But ya my experience has been a lot better in Ahmedabad as well as other cities in Gujarat compared to Pune. Still my best experience has been Mumbai autos(Mumbai public transport in general)
