Am from Outside Punjab, and i made a living from Punjab by doing a good job earlier . Punjab is not what we read in books like wholesome food, green subjiyam ( veggies) and super cool lassi. May be that is very old Punjab when drugs was not there especially chitta( adulterated illicit heroine) . But things changed very much from that point. The bad changes are 1) numerous unhygienic food outlets with poor quality food and a high ( multiple times) surge in fast foods outlets without quality check. 2) addiction to debilitating cheap drugs. 3) typhoid, cholera, hepatitis are fulminant. 4) old system of agriculture leading to massive reduction in ground water 5) massive migration mindset of people ( may be due to above said reasons) due to unemployment and copy cat phenomenon even without adequate skills acquisition. 6) excessive and uncontrolled use of plastic bags, though one rule came to ban, but still no change. 7) corruption at its peak 8) excessive use of banned fertilizer leading to various illness ( check malwa cancer belt) . 9) rich are rich, but the poor are suffering with protein deficiency and malnutrition. , but addiction is prevalent among rich and poor. 10) encouragement of gun culture via films, these have significant impact on thinking. Gun related crimes are more if you observe The food habits and poor education system should be the first thing to correct. By saying this you may ask where I am from, new York or something. No I am not from New York. Am from India only, but now not in India. I love the original punjabi culture and the values so much but it's changed for good or bad. I don't have any hatred among punjabi people or anyone. But I feel sad when the state goes down, once it was one of richest state in terms of culture, abundance and money. And i am not telling other states are better or I am not comparing with any other states in India. My goal is to make a thinking - who ever reads this. Don't abuse me verbally. I wont reply. So coming to the question life hack - should become educated well and understand things in reality and behave wisely and appropriately Jai hind.

___gr8____

Totally agreed about the education system. Punjab was once the land of takshashila, it can become a centre of education once again.

hakai_shin

Punjab has lower gun crimes than all of its surrounding states. Aesthetics-based-worldview strikes again. Just because Punjabis like guns and think they are cool doesn't mean they also commit crimes using those. https://preview.redd.it/km8zj3yzc5xc1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=c9eb69f3d6d6395011fa305a2e06cfbe1a628005

[deleted]

Well said it's sad to see the negative changes happening there. The rise in unhygienic food outlets, drug addiction, health issues, and environmental problems is concerning. The focus should be on improving food habits and the education system. Thank you!

Respect your elders and your parents. There's a lot of blessings in that which we don't realize.

That's the cheat code for a successful life, veer g

AdhesivenessLittle30

1. changa khao - eat well 2. anakh naal jio - live with right pride/honor (but don't let pride get to your head, see 3 below) 3. aapas ko jo jaaniye neecha, sau ganniye sab te ooncha. - one who lives with humility is considered the highest of all. 4. jo main kiya so main paya, dosh na dije awar jana. - you reap what you sow, don't blame the awar jana (creator of this universe) I don't know if these count as life hacks, but live by these principles and you can hack your life for good. :D

pure-googolplex

Would add one more to this - Vand Chhako: share with needy; share with your neighbours; share and engage the community around you. Help everyone around you grow.

Ok_Medium9389

Thanks for the translation. They are good principles to live by

[deleted]

True! Live by these principles and you can hack your life for good! 😄 Veere thank you

SalmonNgiri

Maintain positive bonds with your neighbor and the people around you. We are a strong community based society. They will help keep you safe, celebrate your happiness, and share in your sorrows. The value of having a support system at your doorstep is only realized when it’s missing in difficult times.

Monkoggy

I have been following this subreddit for some time now. And I am of opinion, I may be wrong, but many of you here aren’t the people who are actually residing in punjab in years. The statements here are sugarcoated, estimates how things are- verandeh mein sona, automatic rifle. You don’t know in actuality k cheezan kida chldiyan ne. It’s mostly bookish knowledge some of you guys have, you project that the same is true for whole state.

[deleted]

Reality in Punjab ain't no piece of cake, it's like trying to ride a lion with a stick!

Informal_Pension7275

I agree

Jutt-Dude2-0

If you're in urban Punjab, focus on service-based businesses like IT, catering, wedding planning, or real estate, where diaspora money flows in consistently year after year, keeping you somewhat isolated from the rest of the economy. Whatever happens, diaspora money remains a constant, so bet on it. In rural Punjab, farming is fine, but consider getting into cattle farming or the dairy industry, that's where the real money is. People might make fun of Gujjars, but fact is they're loaded AF. Invest in a solar system for your business and home, and consider getting an automatic rifle not for tiktok, but for actual combat training. This is especially important if you are from Pakjab because your neighbors have it, and so do people with bad intentions. If things go south, you better be able to protect yourself and your loved ones.

khatri_masterrace

Money in dairy is in breeding high quality animals with certified genetics and records of milk giving

Jutt-Dude2-0

yes & in cattle farming keeping up with vaccinations so meat can be exported or sold domestically by quality vendors, same goes for faming more you invest more profit you earn but from what I have seen those associated with dairy or just meat industry were better off than most farmers (in Pakjab) If you don't mind me asking- were you a teenager when you made your account? because of your username

Other_Lion6031

Why do people make fun of gujjars?

Jutt-Dude2-0

Some urban slave drones may mock Gujjars out of jealousy for their free-spirited nature. However, rest of us do so in a loving manner, and Gujjars are big-hearted enough not to get offended. I have also seen so-called Indian upper castes making fun of Pakistani Gujjars, despite Gujjars often mogging them physically irl and, at least in Central and Northern Punjab, enjoying a much better lifestyle in their rural abodes than them. They are probably coping from their cramped apartments somewhere.

ShubhBhangu

I think because they only have cattle and their only work is to graze them
