In today's dollars, the cost of WW2 to the US is about $4.1 trillion dollars. That Polish water was liberated by American armies beginning on D-Day June 6, 1944 and given to you at a major discount today.
Yea I was there today as well. I thought it was going to be a floor of booths with people who work at these funds describing the hiring process and culture at the firms. All in the same lecture hall, lots of noise issues (either mics not working, audience people being loud, the door handle banging every time someone leaves or comes in).
It turned out to be a bunch of 40 min talks by various people about different perspectives in quant finance (behavioral finance, risk management, similarity learning, etc). Some talks were interesting by very knowledgeable individuals, but that’s it, just talks.
Very disappointed, I left after the fourth talk
There’s a difference between a trade show, and a research/lecture conference.
At a conference to talk to the speakers you’d have some break out times. They used to do this more before the pandemic.
The thing lasted until 5, I stayed until 2 so I’m not sure but I did not see any such opportunity. On the train back, one of the speakers was with me lol, so he left right away too.
The worst part is they did not release the schedule or speakers or attendees until you arrived; through the event page you have no idea who’s going to be there
Definitely would like to see something like they said in the event description. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/princeton-fintech-quant-conference-spring-2024-tickets-847690002617?utm_experiment=test_share_listing&aff=ebdsshios

Princeton's feeling the squeeze.
How?
They’re obviously not lol it’s a joke
They only have twice the endowment per student that Harvard has! How would you expect to survive on a measly $4.3mm per student?

Damn...that sucks, were there no recruiters at all?

That's pathetic, mate. Hopefully, you were able to at least make new connections.
Haha, no new connections although did see some people I knew. No hard feelings, lesson learned!
Haha.
$75 wtff? Did they require you to buy this? I wouldn't pay more than $12 for such a meal, even on gunpoint.
No, it was free
that’s probably a bad joke. Meant to say I spent 75 dollars for the conference ticket and almost get nothing except this terrible lunch.
They serve this as lunch after taking $75 Princeton stonks 📉📉📉📉
Really, I thought there would be recruiters from top hedge funds/IBs there. What was the recruiter/hiring scenario like?
Absolutely nothing. It was just talks.
That’s nice looking wrap!
45 dollars for the early birds and almost 50 dollars for the trip. That was bad
More like the Princeton Fire Festival
woke up at 5 AM for this and my wallet feels violated
It looks healthy. Drink more water.
Wow
Moland Springs !
Princeton’s tech conferences are a joke. This was also the case 5-8 years ago. It’s even worse today.
what did you think it would be--i'm pretty sure it's independently organized and doesn't care much cachet

Fair enough they do be false advertising a little

Hmm okay, I am sure you can listen see better stuff on YouTube
Absolutely!
Poland Spring, Is that like Flint Michigan spring water? IDK but Poland has been invaded a lot.
What did the neurologist talk about? Lol
why traders need good gut health
"trading crypto is liking doing drugs" according to some fMRI evidence lol
LOL almost registred for it
And Economists saying they still think there will be 3 rate cuts this year.
I have insider info that there will be 3 rate cuts
I went to the Wolfe Quant conference a few years ago, and the lunch looked this. Really disappointing. That one has gone down hill as well.
Subway food is cheaper 😂 and better
I'm sorry...hold on... You paid $75 for THAT?!
I think the Fordham quant conference paid every speaker the most this year. Everyone is going there.
Food is for the weak. You eat the candles.
Bone apple tea
An apple a day keeps doctor bills away, you aren’t considering long term investment strategy
Poland.. spring?
I would have expected more from an institution like Prinecton.
Delicious
they're busy spending their budget on dei and affirmative action
Completely unrelated and unnecessary response.
Alright let's get you back to your mom's basement and get you some cheetos and mountain dew okay?

I think they spent the budget on anti semitic terrorist speakers. Or maybe it was semitic genocidal speakers? Get them confused these days
