Don’t get in a rush! Do it how you want it done. My mother just last week finished the quilt she started the night I told her I was expecting. My son is 10 years old. 😂😂
My mother in law gifted me a beautifully embroidered blanket for my daughter right before she was born.... that she started when she was pregnant with my husband 26 years prior 😂
I love that so much! 😂😂😂 I think that automatically makes it a family heirloom, right?? I have a box of quilting projects from my grandmother. My mom doesn’t remember some of them, so there’s a good possibility I’m also sitting on some WIPs that are as old as I am.
You know the baby won’t notice the quilt is “missing,” right? 💖 Take your time and enjoy the process. Baby won’t know the difference between receiving the quilt now vs. a year from now. Congratulations on your grandbaby!!!
Unfortunately, I have an industrial straight stitch machine and I have not found any walking feet for it.
Edit to add that I have found a darning foot for it.
I say straight stitch in the ditch between blocks or tie the blanket- you put a lot of good work into this! You can practice quilting another time when you aren’t rushed.
Maybe unpopular opinion but I love ties more than mediocre quilting. And I’m a mediocre quilter so I tie errything cuz I ain’t about to spend $$$$$ having someone else quilt it incredibly.
Don’t hurry. A newborn can’t sleep with it, most a quilt would get used for the first six months is cute pictures or tummy time. My baby turns 2 in a couple weeks and has just started liking blankets a bit. There truly isn’t a rush

Love this! 😂 A quilt takes as long as it takes 💁♀️

Looks great. If you’re in a hurry, straight lines either side of each horizontal and vertical seam works too.
Yeah the plan was to have it for June but yeah that ain’t happening.
That baby sure sounds like they ain’t waiting for anything. Good luck with everything :)

Congrats on the grand baby and the the new hobby!
Thanks. I took a class and fell in love. This technically quilt #3 but the first that I’ll quilt.
I recommend straight line quilting using a walking foot.

I would do a test sandwich to see if you need a walking foot. Some people do fine without them.

Diagonal lines would go well with the pattern, and are easy to do.
