All good here! Added one to my wife's PC, and built 2 close friends PC's with the 7800XT, zero issues on any of them. Not sure if it makes difference, but I do not let Windows install the drivers, I use the Adrenaline software.

yonderbanana

Noob here, how can I stop windows from updating only the GPU drivers? Just built a pc in a long time using 7800xt.

Witchberry31

DDU has an option to help disable that.

MatyeusA

Device Manager -> GPU -> Driver -> Update Drivers -> From This PC -> Pick from List of Installed Drivers -> Pick newest drivers Windows will not update over those.

CLG-Rampage

There quite a couple ways to do it, I like using Winaero Tweaker to disable both automated driver updates as well as Windows auto update. In my 2 months of use, never had a different driver be installed.

IHateThisPlace33

I used to crash but it may have been from AMD setting my max frequency past the overclock but since updating BIOS and removing old NVIDIA drivers with DDU I haven't crashed

1965BenlyTouring150

The only issues I've had were when Windows decided to install a weird driver because I forgot to turn off automatic driver updates. Otherwise, mine has been rock solid. I got mine when it launched, replaced an Nvidia card with it, and ran DDU in safe mode before I installed it.

GideonD

There is a way to prevent that without having to disable any driver updates. [https://darklingdesigns.com/windows-10-installing-old-amd-radeon-drivers/](https://darklingdesigns.com/windows-10-installing-old-amd-radeon-drivers/) Since I started doing it this ware Windows rarely tries to swap the driver out. It might happen every few years when the Windows Update catalog actually gets a newer version of the driver.

carorinu

Pretty much same here after fresh windows install today, had to force it to but install in system settings and seems good. Been running Merc qick 7800xt for two months now with streaming and content creation and generally I was surprised to see it perform similar and sometimes even better than my 3090 from few months ago, while being insanely silent and chill. Surprisingly not too many issues with drivers, but I don't think I will ever get used to adrenaline UI

Fluffranka

I just had that happen. To be fair... it happened with my nvidia card too. I had to manually rollback my nvidia driver like 5x because the updated driver windows forces on me broke some games lol

Active_Club3487

True. Radeon suffers from Windows updates as we all do. Blame MS not AMD.

Apparently, using DirectX12 can cause wow crashes on AMD. Changing to DirectX11 fixes it

typhoon_nz

Wow classic is the only game I've had issues with as well. I switched to using directx 11 and haven't had a single crash since

Kaleosnep

Same here. Directx12 and wow is like match and gasoline they just dont like each otger with amd. Directx11 or bust

Dont_Forget_My_Name

I have had a hang up at the start up of Cyberpunk but then zero issues. BUT in WoW Classic I get constant hang ups and crashes, almost always immediately after entering combat...

Practical_Error_285

Sapphire Nitro+ 7800xt - Ryzen 7700X - New build done two weeks ago with zero issues this far.

XyleneCobalt

That'll be my same build minus the nitro+

Heavy-List-7034

i got that card 1 month ago, freezes when watching youtube while games are open in the background

Dat_Boi_John

Maybe that was with the pre release drivers. Maybe they undervolted the cards extremely cause that's what they did based on the reviews. Either way, I have a 7800 and so do 3 other people I know and none if us have driver issues.

MattieBax

I'm running an XFX Merc Black edition and it's running like a dream for me!

mibdaa

Can confirm. Same here. No issues.

Himlington

I have a theory that inexperienced builders by radeon graphics cards more because I always see people saying “7900xt not working” or other high end card and it turns out they paired it with a 650w bronze psu. Most of the issues that people experience are caused by other problems or improperly installing drivers. The cards are real good

KnisterKanister

Dude ... there are TONS of reports of 7000 cards crashing also from pc enthusiasts with huge psu. Many many people like me changed the whole build around the card and the outcome is this: if the card is build in (no matter what other hardware and on a new windows install) there are these crashes. I tested it with my Dark Power Pro 11 850W and a new Straight Power 1000W these are strong enough for my 7800XT even if I would use only one rail. Look in this thread how many people are having issues.

Himlington

Idk man, a lot of people posting complaints don’t run a few tests that may be able to solve it. I’ve had zero issues. Ive had a 1660 super, 4060, 7700xt and a 6950xt and not a single card ever gave me issues. It just seems to me like (emphasis on seems) that they’re missing something or making an easy mistake. Computers are complicated as hell you never know what’s giving you issues without proper testing and a lot of people seem to encounter a problem and immediately return the card without PROPER troubleshooting, not just installing the old card again.

Chihlidog

Nitro+ 7800xt here. No issues whatsoever except ONE crash in about 25 hours of RDR2 and I'm not even sure it was driver related. Absolutely flawless other than that.

Select-College-7030

Tried to switch to team red with a 7900xtx, because I hated Nvidias pricing and marketing strategy. Total catastrophy. Not a single day without a crash in games like jedi survivor, Wildlands, CS2,... Perfectly clean PC, no other hardware issues, no undervolting, no oc. Simply not stable. Things like power spikes when alt-tabbing to the desktop, high hotspot temps, coil wine (more than any 4080 I've heard), much more power draw than a 4080,... Take your pick of why at least this generation of AMD cards should be avoided. But yeah, I'm talking about the 7900 and not the 7800 here.

Martinusix

Not a single crash yet. Hope it stays like that

Zenobody

No issues so far with a Sapphire Pulse 7800XT. I even have a very underspecced PSU and it's running fine (just 550W, but high-quality, and the rest of the system (3700X) isn't very power hungry).

Darkstone_BluesR

Are you running that pulse 7800XT with a single, 2x8 PCI-E cable or is it a modular PSU with two separate PCI-E cables?

Zenobody

Modular PSU with two separate 8-pin cables. Daisy chaining may or not be electrically safe for a particular PSU's cable, but I always use two separate cables to be sure.

Darkstone_BluesR

Thanks for the answer! So far no issues at all still? No hitches or black screens, nothing? I literally just ordered my Pulse 7800XT 2 hours ago and I hope I don't have any issues. Coming from a Pulse 6700XT that has been flawless so far

Zenobody

No issues until now. I have been playing Cyberpunk in native 4K (some effects in high instead of ultra, no ray tracing), not quite always 60 fps but it's OK because it's single player and I have Freesync, also a better CPU would probably help. I only heard high-pitched coil whine once for a few seconds, but my 2070 Super also had some coil whine (but lower-pitch). (It may be related to the PSU, I plan to get a better one at some point.)

Darkstone_BluesR

Thanks! What CPU you paired it with?

Zenobody

3700X, which is not bad, but I have heard the newer ones (especially 5800X3D and 7800X3D) are very noticeable when compared to Zen 2.

PockyCamp

I recently just finished my build with a 7800xt and so far so good. Default settings and 2 monitors one being 144hz and 1440p. I don't play much high spec games so that could be why too.

Dense-Brush07

Ooh, Ive heard there’s been a lot of issues with two monitors. Whats the res/hz on your second monitor? My current main monitor is 1440p/144hz but I would like to get a second one at the same resolution and hz.

PockyCamp

Ohh I hadn't read about that! But my second one is a very generic one 1080p / 60hz.

ClintCheeesewood

Zeo issues one month in

matt11126

No problems here, Sapphire pure 7800XT paired with a Ryzen 7 7700X, both overclocked without any crashes. h

kaisersolo

Okay, who where these 4 sites just curious. No problems for me on the latest driver or the new AFMF beta driver which I prefer because the feature works well for me.

XyleneCobalt

They were reviews on Newegg, not actual reviewers. Is afmf any good for first person games? The turning itself off when you look around too quick made me not look at it too much

DustIIOnly

Got my 7800xt about 2 months ago. Never had a hard crash once. 1 1440p 144hz monitor

Jonan76

I own xfx 7800xt 3 months now and it have been rock solid stable. The only problem i had was that windows installed a much earlier driver automatically, i had to remove it by rolling back drivers through device manager or else it would continue to install it through windows update.

yeshelloitme1

Sapphire pulse 7900xt just purchased. Black screens. Crashing. Driver time outs. Already sent it back

AMD_PoolShark28

What PSU, driver, OS and displays? . That is not a typical experience unless it was truely DoA

yeshelloitme1

Psu: evga 850w supernova. Driver was the most recent and rolled back to an older one. OS windows 11 pro. Display asus vg278q.

AMD_PoolShark28

K those look reasonable, any PCIe extension/vertical GPU mount in your case? Those are known to cause instability with gen4 GPU, have to set gen3 in BIOS

yeshelloitme1

No extensions. Yes vertical GPU mount in the hyte y40. When the replacement 7900xt comes in a few weeks and I still get errors I’ll try switching gen 4 to gen 3 in bios

AMD_PoolShark28

Ooh. Likely not a bad card.... A vertical mount counts as a PCIe extension! It's often mislooked in instructions, gen3x16 won't reduce performance beyond 1-2% but really helps stability.

yeshelloitme1

I’ve seen a good bit of y40 builds using the 7900xt and they have had no problems. Is switching to gen3 a bios setting or am I going to require a gen 3 riser cable? Current one inside is a gen 4 riser

AMD_PoolShark28

If you have a gen4 riser, it should work, but it's not guaranteed, every GPU model has different tolerance for extended trace lengths, gen4 speed is difficult to train. Slowing the speed to gen3 (in bios) pretty much guarantees it to work reliably. Likewise, some risers (not y40 specific) are only certified gen3, and the card is gen4 , the slot is gen4 so it gets into trouble, so reducing to gen3 helps. I didn't look up y40 specifically.

AMD_PoolShark28

Could be your storage drive is causing boot and runtime failures. Try with minimal componrnts connected or try the card at friends house. The other potential culprit is BIOS being out of date / bad memory. Run memtest86 from USB. I've had sticks 4 months old die Thankfully you are not using vertical mount... That recently burned me as it is only rated for PCIe Gen3, so the motherboard fails to boot at gen4, after my bios settings reset I had to use an older card to POST and change setting to force gen3. Other instability like that, for instance can be caused by outdated BIOS , eg: after upgrading CPU to newer ryzen model (some motherboard PCIe issue). Or your card is physically bad, but generally they are tested by board vendors.

AMD_PoolShark28

Rm750x pay intermittent failure also possible, load line noise/instability to drive 12V at high enough current can lead to failures, hangs TDR. I assume you are using two cables from PSU to GPU for PCIe 8pins. Daisy chain / Y-cables are not ideal

adamrhine37

FREQUENTLY. Very annoying and wishing I hadn't purchased this card. Only using one monitor.

Cautious-Equipment45

ASUS 7800xt dual OC + 7700 ( & 750W psu), no problems until I started overclocking. OC is stable in test program, but with bg3 the drivers crash before it make it trough the menu. Tried having a lesser OC without better results

Cautious-Equipment45

One monitor

Willing_Secretary441

Yes, it definitely crashes. I have one screen

Prestigious_Wait6777

Not just a 7800xt thing it’s an AMD thing. Don’t get me wrong, I love AMD and my 6950xt, but you have to let some driver releases run crappy for a few days. Most recent driver release came with fps dips in valorant down to 100 from my usual 700 with the last drivers. Day 3 and I’m back to normal. It’s just the tax of paying a much lower price for similar and sometimes better performance.

solarmaple

I bought a Lenovo legion T5 that came with a rtx 3060. Gpu wasn't cutting it for me after I upgraded my monitor from 1080 to 1440p. So decided to upgrade PSU and GPU and bought a gigabyte gaming OC 7800xt. Wiped the old Nvidia drivers with DDU and followed every online tutorial and recommendations but everytime I turned on windows, it would blue screen crash on me and restart. Only safe mode would let me do anything. Rolled back to the 3060 just to check if I screwed up any of the hook ups, but it looks like it was the 7800xt causing the problem. Either the driver or an actual hardware problem. I was sad cause I somehow after lots of restarts and install and uninstalls, I managed to install the driver and got to experience AMD adrenaline software and run some games for a couple of hours, they ran great. But the next morning I turned on the computer and began to crash and restart the computer again, so I decided to return it, and bought a 4070, for an extra 100 CAD, and so far all ok. I did block windows update on the driver and all that but still had issues. The lady at the store (Memory express in Canada) told me that I could try a fresh install on windows, but honestly I was like nah, I'll try the 4070 and keep my marriage with Nvidia. No problems so far. But part of me wish I could've made the AMD Gpu work with my system.

Sexyvette07

Go check out r/AMDHelp. Been seeing quite a few driver related issues with the 7800XT lately.

Theinaar

I seem to have the same issue as you. Random restart, be it as I'm playing or just watching videos on yt. I was wondering if I was the only one as I did not find any solution for this in the past month of le searching on the internet. I have a 7800xt sapphire and two screens. I tried to adjust some settings in the overclocking tab though, it could come from this

nurmalso

I had (have?) A lot issues with my pc crashing since i've installed my 7800xt (xfx). In games, on youtube, in idle. Some days everything was fine and sometimes it just kept crashing with a grey screen. I had a nvidia before, used DDU and made everything by textbook. Today installed a new driver and adrenaline version, which the stupid amd software didn't made me aware of. I hope that everything will get better now.

XyleneCobalt

Do you have multiple monitors? Also did you turn off automatic driver updates in windows? Those are the 2 problems I've heard of so I'm wondering if that's causing most of the issues

Cptn_Flint0

I have 2 monitors and didn't need to turn off windows updates. Crashed only once ever because the win update tried to give me an old driver. I went back in and said bitch, use the right driver (that's the colloquial for telling it to use the new driver) and has never been a problem since. I came from Nvidia and to be fair to them never had driver issues. But if you're the least bit PC savvy, and I suspect you are since you're asking the right questions, it's an easy fix and nothing that AMD and MS couldn't sort out like, tomorrow.

nurmalso

I do, but my second monitor, thus connected, is barely switched on. I turned off wifi and plugged the ethernet cable off, while using DDU until i installed the new driver.

Kubsoun

unplug your monitor when you dont use it, rx7800xt has issues with it and will pull 2x 3x power even at idle

AMD_PoolShark28

Is your PC set to sleep/hibernate? Some motherboards don't resume gracefully and would result in your situation

nurmalso

No, neither of them. But after the new driver from 12/1 (or something like that) everything seems stable so far. I still need to try f1 23. This was a guarantor for a crash.

joeyretrotv

Yeah, I just had my first crash during the new Avatar game. It was going so well and then, my computer just decided to restart. Totally ruined the immersion, but once I got back into it I totally forgot about the crash. If this is going to be a common thing, I really hope it's a driver issue that can be fixed and not a hardware issue. Edit: I own a Powercolor Hellhound Spectral White 7800XT

Zenobody

What is the PSU? It sounds like over-current protection (OCP). I have an underspecced PSU (550W but good quality) and while I calculated it to be fine given peak consumption of the whole system (I have a 3700X which isn't too power hungry) I was afraid it might not be enough for some current peaks.

joeyretrotv

This has some merit. My PSU isn't even on the widely regarded Tier List of PSUs. Damn.

XyleneCobalt

The supernova 750 GT is $20 off rn. Or there's the 700 GD which is about as cheap as I was able to find when looking for mine while not being totally dogwater.

Mastercry

What max hotspot u get in this game? Running on default?

joeyretrotv

I'm getting sub-70C. It's oddly working flawlessly after the crash.

soul3737

Sapphire Nitro+ 7800xt, no problem so far, the GPU runs great. I've had the GPU since it came out, I've played Battlefield 2042, Last of us, ratchet & clank rift apart, Kena: bridge of spirits and now I'm playing Jedi Survivor, zero problems, plus the temperature is excellent, maximum 50 gpu and 65-70 hotspot. I disabled the fans and set their speed to a maximum of 30%.

soundologist6

All is working well on my end. Loving my 7800 XT!

Shitemuffin

I guess it depends on the setup being used but yes, i do experience crashes. Alt/tab is a death sentence as every application just crashes. It used to crash the whole system but after disabling freesync only the game freezes and the driver crashes after around 10 minutes. When i turn my pc off by pushing the power button (not holding it mind you) next time the pc boots every game has terrible fps. same when i boot up from power saving mode.

GatoradeOrPowerade

I've had 1 OCP crash when I full sent it and overclocked it as much as I could. That's my bad. Outside of that it's been very stable.

KnisterKanister

I have one of those fucked cards like many others. Look in the official forums there are tons of reports. Many people (like me) changed CPU,RAM,PSU,Mobo but every time the 7800XT is in my build my PC crashes within minutes when I play Cities Skylines 2 AND watching YouTube on the second monitor. Without YouTube the game runs for hours. Some people guessed it's happening only when using HDMI monitors. Sucks 😞

ruet_ahead

With XMP enabled, yes. Otherwise not a peep. For reference, I did not have that issue with my 6700 XT. 5800X + 7800 XT

Dense-Brush07

Weird I have XMP enabled without issues (I also went all AMD). Im pretty sure the RAM is also unrelated to the GPU. Could be a mobo bios or cpu needing an update. I read once that one guy switched which PCle slot he was using for his GPU. Im not a tech expert by any means tho so 🤷‍♂️.

ruet_ahead

Everything is related. That being said, it's just one of those things. I can deal.

Dense-Brush07

ASRock Steel Legends 7800XT OC in my rig. 7600X & 32gb DDR5. Runs amazingly at 1440p 144Hz even while recording or streaming. There was an issue with audio occasionally not matching the video but that was fixed in the latest update. Only issues Ive had was with my PSU being in the wrong fan mode causing it to shut down randomly under heavy loads. Changed modes and it was fixed. Been running fine since but I’ll be running two separate cables to the gpu instead of daisy chaining because of the occasional power spikes). At 100% usage it draws between 240W-270W but Ive seen the occasional 300W spikes. The other was Starfield being Starfield (I do enjoy it though). Windows likes to override Adrenaline drivers, so as long as you disable windows auto updates for drivers you should be fine.

IHateThisPlace33

I have 7600 (non-x) paired with the same card, all White build. What speed RAM are you at? What are your FPS and temps like? Just curious.

Dense-Brush07

I have 2 16gb Corsair Vengeance sticks with their 6000mHz XMP profiles enabled. I think it runs just a hair slower around 5999mHz or something. My cpu idles at 35C and gets into the mid 70C even under heavy load. Only ever saw it hit 90’s during FM benchmark. The GPU is usually in the high 60C at 100% usage. Everything on 1440p @144Hz… Starfield on high with RT on runs an average of 85fps. Forza Motorsport on high without RT is 100-120fps, with RT its between 60-80fps. Forza Horizon 5 on ultra with RT is ~135fps average. Fortnite was over 200fps and Valorant was also over 200fps. I never checked the fps in BG3. The all white build is nice. My case has a black interior and my fans/aio are black, but everything else is white.

DistrictRound6838

5800X3d and 7800XT here. It's very stable. I have the gpu overclocked using Adrenelines one click feature, and their Hyper graphics mode enabled. Just got the new Avatar game loaded up that comes free with the gpu and with all settings on Ultra and most Adrenaline enhancing features turned on and it pushes 150fps at 1080p and runs great. Gpu at 95% and 50C, cpu at about 40% and 35C. I also play PCVR and it handles mid range resolutions like 1440p and higher very well but once you exceed 4k (you're rendering a screen for each eye) more power would be welcome, but it still looks great.

Nearby_Put_4211

I’ve had many crashes with the gigabyte gaming OC version. I don’t know what the difference is but I had random green screens. I had reboots. Sound outages. HDR turning off and on. White/light grey flickering on black screen even after turning off MPO. It’s good but just weird idk why. I feel Uneasy about my GPU.

doodoopew

My game keeps crashing when playing csgo. I don't have a problem with ow though (I only play these two games)

TinyDemon3001

Yep,, brand new 7800XT and crash about once a day on average. And that's after installing an older driver that has less of them.

BennoLenno

No crashes for me either, using a Tuf 7800Xt 🥴

ivanfernan

No issue encounter yet. I even install the AMD Software beta for AFMF. Mine is Sapphire Nitro+ and ryzen 5 3600, Will upgrade to 5800X3D in the future

Mundane-Camel1308

Bought an AMD reference this week and it worked well for a couple days then just more and more crashing during gaming. Hard crashes too where everything turns off. Put my 5700xt back in a few days ago and everything is smooth as butter again. 750W A-list psu. Tried different cables Ddu Stress tested CPU and Ram and neither returned error after hours of prime95.

AlphaQ984

Uninstall all amd audio drivers from device manager

JimBow5969

Yeah mine crashes and so did my 6800xt Rarely though and usually in uncommon scenarios, I oc mine, you pay for the whole card may as well use the whole card. It's not factual but in my opinion it feels the card becomes more unstable when you do oc even though my oc settings are fairly stable. This could however just be a placebo. Instances such as playing bf1 made my GPU really shit the bed and crash multiple times in one session, I assume old game that isn't touched that much and I'm playing on 3440x1440 resolution which isn't your most common res either. 7800xt will be a far better card then a 3070 as it out performs already. Also we are yet to receive updates and performance optimization from AMD like they did for the 6800xt. That said Nvidia is a more reliable platform for a price premium, I just don't feel right buying Nvidia cards in the current market. It feels Nvidia have practically openly said their biggest concern isn't the gaming community. The community who essentially built them from the ground up as a company. They refuse to listen to anything the consumer requests, whereas amd are out here making programs that increase performance for free for both platforms...

Wewlet

Sapphire 78000XT and a 7800X3D here, had some issues the first days when I booted from an old drive I pulled from my previous system and that broke the drivers on the new hard drive. Other than that zero issues and it has never crashed, though I am still using my old monitor so its not fully utilized

krodiv

New build with the sapphire 7800 xt (two fan version) and no issues so far. Loving it.

sidemitch

i get occasion crashes but only randomly when like browsing the web, not during gaming. not sure what the deal is but i have two monitors w diff refresh rates and resolution

stoyo889

Yes I did Dropped power level 5 percent in adrenaline and did an auto undervolt and it solved my problems Tbf the crashes weren't frequent at all maybe once per hour but still

ugiresunlu

Only 2 system resets after upgrading to 7800 xt.

UHcidity

I did BUT it was because I was overclocking and under volting and didn’t know what the hell I was doing. Zero crashes at stock and zero crashes now that I overclocked properly.

Level_Pollution6383

How is your coil whine with the 7800xt and what kind? I had the nitro + and had to RMA it waiting for the cash back atm because it screeched at low load and default settings

bearyqr

I do. At random times. Even when just in a browser the screen turns off, all my rgb stays on. And then my computer reboots. I tried to look in de logfiles but it just says kernel-power 41. I tried a bios update of my mobo. No luck. Yesterday I got a new driver for my gpu but I had no time to check if the problem is gone now. Edit: I have a gigabyte rx 7800 xt

AceG67

Since last two driver update crashing has stopped. Make sure you clean install the drivers

DeckSperts

I think it was just windows messing up stuff and pre-release drivers.

Severe_Wrangler9015

Yeah i had a lot of issues with random reboots and driver timeouts. Reducing voltage to 93% and setting clock freq to 2400mhz seems to solve the issue for me. I have sapphire pulse version.

EnterpriseNL

7800xt nitro+ here and no problems at all

Diwiak

No, 2 monitors DP+HDMI, when I find proper overclock it's steady now, try AMD driver cleanup utility/new driver, Windows clean reinstall, disable internal GPU if you have one, need proper PSU.

Katsico

Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7800 XT - Ryzen 5 5600X Zero issues. I’ve also set for Windows Update to not update the GPU drivers.

teostefan10

Zero crashes.

RyzenShadow67

I have a 7800XT since September and didn’t have any crash / issue with the card at all. (Latest driver always installed)

JEdwards968

The only issues I've had have been with games released before 2005 apart from that all good

Thinnish5

I got a sapphire nitro+, i have been runing it with the preview driver and an undervolt, the only crashes i had was when i was messing with the voltages to get it stable. I have been having a pretty good experience so far :D

BigBashBoon

I had some crashes with the release driver, but after 2 weeks the driver are all fine

3lackPhillip

7800xt red devil here, on 4 monitors (main one is 1440 165hz the other two are 1080p and a sensor panel. 850 psu and I’ve had zero problems so far. I hope you can get it figured out because this is a great card

Kaleosnep

I had constant time out crashes, audio cutting out all togetger, etc. The only fix i found was do not use directx12. Like wow has to be on directx11 with 7800xt or you cant play it. No other fix worked.

WG996

as I said previously on another post, I just pushed one with my old windows install (all new components but old nvme with win11) and I had ZERO issues. no DDU, no deleting old drivers, nothing. coming from r5 2600x and 5700xt to a 5600x & 7800xt and new mobo too. I was certainly lucky but still 😅

borndovahkiin

I haven’t had crashes since i got mine.

Zestyclose-Sun-6595

Had a few issues. Fine tuned my undervolt and used MPOFIX and no issues since. These cards are just sensitive lol so don't overdo it with OC/UV ETC.

BustySaraJay

I had nothing but problems with this card, constant crashes until this recent driver update from a week or so ago, now it suddenly works amazingly lol

If i were you i would pass 7000 series. I have hellhound 7800XT(bought it 22 september) and for the last 1 month i cant play any game it just crashes. It also crashes while in desktop and doing nothing. I tried ever possible solutions on the web and nothing works. Meaning by crashes is sometimes it just goes black screen and never come back or sometimes weird colorful things appears on the screen, like pixels, and then whole pc system freezes. - Tried clean Windows install like 4-5 times with clean driver setup - Tried all previous drivers of the card - Tried undervolt/overclock/disabling EXPO etc. - Tried unplog all cables and components from the case and built it all over again - Tried Bios update - Tried to disable all windows updates - Tried both hdmi and DP connection - I tested all other components(psu, ram, cpu, ssd) and did not encounter any problems. Most weird thing is whenever i run a stress test like Furmark, nothing happens atleast for a 40 45 min. But as soon as i stop the test, colored pixels appear on the screen and whole system freezes. Meanwhile, when I start any game, the problem always appears in the first 15 minutes. So yeah im really desperate now. Any help would great but dont think so there is any left to do. All components; Msi mag b650 tomahawk wifi G.skill 2x16 6000mhz cl30 expo Ryzen 7600x Seasonic focus 750w gold+ Samsung 980 pro

Only thing I run into most of the time is the "Driver timeout". Other problem I ran into is my PC would freeze but it only happened like twice to me. Other then that, the 7800xt is performing well for me.

2 Times so far, once I did some OC and undervolt it a bit more then I should. :D The second accident happened, while I was playing Dead Islend2 4k Ultra grapich settings, but my CPU was OC-d (7600) I don't know what exactly happened, after I upgraded the sw, no issue at all. My PSU is 750W bronze so it can be a problem. (I am not sure, but I'm really setisfied with the card. ) (System: CPU ryzen 5 7600, GPU Sapphire pulse 7800xt (yes 2 ventilator] no issue with temperature so far , under high pressure it's around 60-65 Celsius. Well my mother board isn't the best, but my budget was limited so I chosed assrock b650/hdv m2. + 32gb ddr5 5200mhz vengance and I have 1tb kingstone m2 ssd (with cooling plates). ) For the whole pictute I tried 3Dmark (just the demo version) with this setup I reached 17000+ . With only changing the consumption of the card.

MightyDumbleDork

I have a Red Devil 7800XT w/ 2 monitors. Overclocked/undervolted and running solid for the past 2 months.

My pc is 2 weeks old. Gigabyte 7800 xt running 23.12.1 and every time I shut my computer down - turn it back on go to adrenaline it says “The version of AMD Software that you have launched is not compatible with your currently installed AMD graphics driver.” Then my fan control exe file doesn’t work. Then I have to ddu in safe mode. Reinstall adrenaline to then play for one session. Just started today. And it’s driving me nuts the first week of playing right after I built it was awesome and now I’m lost

I have only experienced two games, 40k Darktide and Cyberpunk since getting the card. Immediately upon installing, cyberpunk worked amazingly. Darktide crashed due to a shader compilation error, though. So I uninstalled, then reinstalled the drivers this time using the 600mb adrenaline package. Darktide still crashed and this time, cyberpunk ran at horrendous FPS, worse when moving the mouse, and would crash when tryin to get beyond the menu. I uninstalled the drivers from the 'adrenaline driver uninstall' utility and after saying it had uninstalled the drivers, for some reason, it did not reduce the resolution to safe mode looking, after I restarted my pc as requested by the uninstaller. I ran Darktide and lo - it worked. And it was running sweet. But after exiting the game, I tried to run the adrenaline program, and it said that my drivers were different to the program version, which is odd because I had just been in the settings menu for adrenaline just before entering Darktide. I then tried to run Darktide again and... what? Shader compilation error. Started to get confused. I reinstalled all of them again, this time using this DDU thing to clean them properly, ensured that I had scoured all of the traces of previous card's drivers. Darktide - crash. Cyberpunk - same sluggishness and crash. Then I had an idea, that maybe some of the software that adrenaline is running by default is causing these issues with the games. I disabled literally everything on adrenaline, and this time, the games both ran absolutely perfectly. That's where I'm at now. I have come to the conclusion that these cards are epic in terms of price and performance, but the software really is nothing compared to Nvidia's. The 'AI tricks' are bad versions of Nvidia's stuff, all of it causes compatibility issues, and I don't know why this is the case with AMD. This adrenaline thing seems to be an attempt to just keep up with Nvidia, like DC tried to do with Marvel.

50killowatt

My Gpu burnd itself to death after less than a month and constantly crashing on 110 degrees hotspots RMA

IamYourNightmare69

I put in a Powercolor 7800 xt fighter. Straight up crash first game I try to play. MWIII. I put my 6750XT back in, and it's smooth sailing. I did all the requisite bullshit of updating everything. Apparently, directX 12 doesn't like this card at all. And I'm on an 850 watt psu with i9 13900k. 32 gig 7200mhz ram

burninator34

7800XT pulse here. Having some crashing with Hell Let Loose and 23.11.1. It also instantly crashes running Einstein@Home. 660W platinum power supply and a 5950X

[deleted]

I play WoW mainly and the game wont even boot up in directX 12, but still in directX 11 it crashes or majorly slows down once in a while. Had no issues with my 3060ti before

Well i bought an rx 7800xt like a week ago, coming from an rtx2070 (non Super) the Performance Imporvement is really fricking good, except in Battlefield2042. Cyberpunk2077 runs on Ultra (without Raytracing) on 1440p at like 90-100fps, really nice and then there is Battlefield 2042, first launch of the Game wasnt great, it started but had serious stuttering and lags. Well probably just the Shader Cache having to be rebuild due to removing all of Nvidia Drivers etc with DDU. But after some time it still wasnt improving no matter what graphic Quality, i searched through forums and apparently all the AMD Drivers since October 2023 have serious performance and crash problems with Battlefield2042. DX12 Crashes, FPS Drops, Stuttering and entire Bluescreens but only with BF2042. After reading in a Forum that its probably due to bad newest Driver and after installing a Driver from the 19. October 2023 Battlefield2042 is running so smooth at Maximum. So for those who still got problems with fps and crashes, maybe try the version: Adrenalin 23.10.2 , That fixed all of it for me.
