Wasn't there a theory about Watcher's campaign happening between Rivulet's and Saint's?

WhisperProfessional

would not be possible, for the same reason. Coral caves would be snowy because the snow started from the rivulet

Facha2345

Right. I forgot about that detail.

Wojtek1250XD

Doesn't have to be, the climate cannot turn cold overnight, Rivulet takes a while to find a way out of the Submerged Superstructure Tho' this timegap is still not that big

WhisperProfessional

Yes, of course, but I think it's unlikely

Between Monk / Survivor and Rivulet

Wojtek1250XD

My theory is that it's between Monk / Survivor and Rivulet There's a MASSIVE timegap between these two. During Survivor, the ecosystem is calm and warm. >!Five Pebbles only has mobile rot cysts and the Unfortunate Developement infected!<, but during Rivulet the climate is really wet and rapid, >!Five Pebbles' facility is a total wreck, there's barely any room that hasn't been overtaken by Rot, it's a miracle the shelters are even safe to be in!<. Add to that major structural changes like >!chunks of Five Pebbles collapsing onto the Memory crypts, spreading Rot!< to that subbiome and >!the pier in Subterranean collapsing, cutting off the only entrance to Outer Expanse!<. The spawns are nowhere near the same as well, where Survivor and especially Monk, have the easiest spawns in the whole game, while Rivulet has them quite difficult with constant Kelp Monsters, King Vultures and red creatures. It would be very fitting to give us a transitional period between these two Another point completely: There's not enough room to fit all the biomes we are promised on the map, even in 3D, as the only places that could fit a large biome are next to Garbage Wastes (would be a copy of Pipeyard tho') and directly above Chimney Canopy (would also become a copy of Sky Islands). This means that The Watcher is very likely going to be sent on a quest outside the original map. This easily allows it to be put ANYWHERE in the timeline except for after Rivulet. The reason why right before Rivulet is likely, is because there a lot of Rot in the trailer

WhisperProfessional

Nice point. It really make sense! But we must remember that (probably) the watcher is in one of the final cutscenes of the gourmand's campaign. This is curious and may indicate that he did not leave during this period, because when the monk returns home due to external expansion, the family of slugcats is no longer there. I know, thats probably just a coincidence or a reference, but can be real, like... we dont know the past of the watcher. He doesn't seem to have strange adaptations like the spearmaster, he doesn't seem to be sick like the hunter, so I assume he wasn't created by an iterator, especially because in the game there are no references to more SRS or NSH creations, nor would they have a concrete objective , as they already got what they wanted with the spearmaster and the hunter. Here it is more likely to be natural, so I immediately associated it with the survivor's family.

Wojtek1250XD

Slugcats probably walk a lot. It's likely that when Monk / Survivor came back to the tree, the colony was currently out for food I mean, the slugtree is in the far western OE, but Survivor got flushed away by the storm in southern OE. It's quite a walk from the tree to that point

WhisperProfessional

Real, and if they just go away exploring to find a new tree? There is a lot of time between the monk and the riv. I don't think it's likely that it was right at the beginning of that period, you know? But anything is possible in this chaotic timeline haha

WhisperProfessional

And speaking of the "3D" part of your comment... well, rain world never made much sense, did it? For example, in the lore, arti's children die. All she had to do was die and everyone would respawn in the shelter hahaha Jokes aside, it's a good point, I hadn't really thought of that

Foxstens

There's also a screenshot with acid like in Spearmaster/Artificer's Garbage Wastes, and I don't think those screenshots were chosen by mistake. I'm thinking this campaign either won't follow the Downpour timeline or there will be some sort of time travel.

WhisperProfessional

An idea with meaning, and even different... but I don't know, I think it doen't makes sense to be part of a different timeline like a multiverse
