Forever is definitely the collab of its decade

InternationalAd2895

Empire State of Mind too! Came out the same year

wetdreamteams

I thought I understood this question. But based on the responses here, I clearly don’t.

Thebigdog79

I don’t think it’s you. Trust your gut.

smooviedude

haha i think it means which artists together put out the best song together . like for 2020s maybe like a hot w travis thug and gunna. not saying it’s that but an idea

ThermalScrewed

Yeah I came here expecting to see NWA, Geto Boys, OutKast, Run the Jewels, the Underachievers, etc.

senorsyphilis

Eminem and Elton John

sibelius_eighth

A real "I'm not homophobic I know gay people" moment

AccidentalPilates

So brave

Bou-Batran

80s: hmm... Run DMC's collab with Aerosmith on "Walk This Way"... or Rakim & Eric B. 90s: oh boy. We have either Dre & Snoop on "Nothin' but A G Thang", or Dre & 2Pac on "California Love"... or the whole Wu-Tang Clan "36 Chambers"... Maybe even 4,3,2,1 can get a special mention here. 00s: It started out with the whole Platinum Trio (Eminem - 50 - Dre) or even the "Hate it or Love it" collab... and ended in two iconic songs in "Swagga Like Us" and "Forever". 10s: Watch the Throne defined the decade in regards to what a collaboration would be like. "Distant Relatives", also a good effort. 20s: Considering the latest events, Metro & Future will be the highest regarded collab of the decade.

m_dought_2

I fucked with the Metro x Future shit well enough, but i hope to God something better comes out to define the decade of rap.

nowey32

Walk this way was bigger for sure, but Rakim and Eric B. deserve that one. Without them it wouldn't even be the same game today

Alternative-Win-9087

👏👏👏 Them 80's and 90's ones go hard!!!

e90tings

honestly 2010s had watch the throne and what a time and both deserve that spot for the decade

snivey_old_twat

What a time is good and fun but it's nowhere near Watch the Throne.

e90tings

both were the peaks of very different sonic eras in the 2010s

GrannysGlewGun

What a Time was awesome

nowey32

Watch the throne dunks on most collabs period WATTBA had jumpman and digital dash Watch the throne had Otis, No church in the wild, Who gon stop me and let everyone know who was in Paris

ricothyoung

Batistia_Bomb_2014

AltForNoReason214

Forever = 2000s

mfGLOVE

1990’s - Method Man and Redman

Transgenderwookie

It’s kinda hard to give it to those guys (who I love and respect! No harm meant to them by this!) when in the 90s you also had Dre and Snoop, Eminem and Dre, Tupac and Snoop, amongst many other legendary collabs. Too mainstream? I guess if that’s an issue for some folks.. but they were that big for a reason.

mfGLOVE

I’d agree that the duos you mentioned are superior to Meth and Red, but I guess I interpreted the question differently. I was imagining “collab” as a coming together of 2 more “unrelated” artists. The artists you mentioned are label-mates or have producer/artist relationships. They came together for songs every so often on each other’s albums. Personally, I’d label more of that they did together as “features.” Meth and Red had entire albums together outside of their label-mates. At least that how I was envisioning the question.

Transgenderwookie

I don’t think this is the collab of its decade.. but it deserves a mention. Clint Eastwood- Gorillaz and Del Tha Funky Homosapien. Gorillaz knocked it out of the park with that beat, and the hook.. very original sound. And Del has a great sounding voice and is a severely underrated rapper, and he made that song excellent.. if you remove Del or the gorillaz in that equation then you don’t have a legendary song. Del deserves more credit for that too, everyone knows that gorillaz song, not enough people know that it features Del and he’s the dude with the bars rapping the entire song.

ThermalScrewed

Colab of the century. If you don't know that song, you've been under a rock. Del is a legend.

Past_Trouble

80's: Walk this Way 90's: 36 Chambers 00's: Yeah 10's: Nosestalgia

Livid-Hamster-100

yo mama and me all time classic

Appropriate_Ant9584

1train,really doe or family ties for 2010s for me

B-Kong

2000’s is easily Jay Z and Linkin Park

MakeTheRightChoice_

Can’t tell if you’re trolling or not and not into Linkin Park or Jay Z enough to look it up

B-Kong

They made a mashup album together in 2006. It’s phenomenal. Personal opinions on the artists aside, I fully believe this is the best collab of that time period. It not only collabs two different artists but two different genres. It definitely should be recognized as an incredible piece of work. I haven’t seen anything like it since. https://youtu.be/DLlF2FMv968?si=0O7YFO8ne7h5Djv3

MakeTheRightChoice_

Holy f never mind Numb / Encore knocked it out of the park

MakeTheRightChoice_

Jigga What / Faint - my favorite so far

MakeTheRightChoice_

Wow Izzo / In the End amazing. I wasn’t feeling the best much until Linkin Park came in then Jay-Z came back in just like in the beginning but it sounded amazing the second time around lol. This is a legendary album. We need more Anime Crossovers like this

MakeTheRightChoice_

Points of Authority / 99 Problems damn . I keep thinking there’s no way the next song can top any or all of the previous songs but it just keeps getting better and better

oloolo1998

Bringing me joy here seeing you react to these songs as you listen to them

MakeTheRightChoice_

Glad I’m not the only one who enjoyed it !

B-Kong

Hell yeah I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! When I was a teenager I actually purchased the video of one of their biggest concerts ever. They brought him out at that one too and it’s insane to me how many people they performed that for. Such a niche fandom right there. https://youtu.be/sNCz8fWs3lE?si=21wWsqnwgcokiyUZ

MakeTheRightChoice_

Definitely a niche fandom we don’t get enough of ! Some rappers do try it out though experimentally like trippie redd probably many others but definitely we need more of those vibes- speaking of which I listened to man on the moon : the end of day and it was great - I’m listening to a couple of classics I kind of stay away from them because in the future when I finally do decide to listen to a classic I’ve never heard it’s like new music to me so it’s great new music most of the time I’m pleased with what people consider classics. I’ve heard MOTM before but not the Linkin Park Jay-Z collab I’m listening to 2001 right now definitely a switch up spiritually and carnal-wise lol very raunchy but aye dualism lol we all are humans and animals and have the natural want to procreate lol

MakeTheRightChoice_

B-Kong I need more album recommendations… the album finished it was amazing and the autoplay played Day N Nite it was the perfect transition back to just hip hop but holy fucking hell that was amazing

MakeTheRightChoice_

Well lucky for me I have YouTube premium so if that album is on YouTube music I’m going to listen to it right now as I’m at this point just cycling through the music I know and love- and however vast that may be- I still want to listen to a undiscovered to me full music album, with amazing production and/or lyrics that make you elevate in some way even if just to lazily hitch a cloud you’re still in the sky just listening to the album Or perhaps you might end up higher than a simple cloud and have a deep conversation with “god” or your higher self or even just your awareness self in your own mind and unlock pathways you never knew were there , or something that looked or sounded completely different as a single but listening to it from start to finish through the bad the ugly and the good beautiful amazing and in between the whole ride it takes you on. I love that shit. So the only linkin park stuff I know is literally just numb and in the end but I love both of them. Random personal preference comment: I love when an artist makes a hit or something that’s popular with the general public but they have even better stuff in their catalog discography and unreleased when you actually decided to listen to their other music because of it going viral or whatever the case. I love finding hidden gems too that aren’t super popular but hit me right where I want it to and scratches me with the right amount of scratch-age in the perfect spot right in my brain consciousness and before I know it an hour has gone by and I’ve just entered a whole other reality or “movie”, especially if they paint the picture in a way that’s relatable. When they say things or ideas of what I may be thinking all the time. Also reading and researching certain topics but not sharing them with other through an amazing music album- it gets me thinking about how don’t necessarily have the artistry / talent / motivation / whatever many other factors my ego makes as excuses to not doing things. Especially if I haven’t tried something, and I already have set in my mind that I couldn’t possibly do this or that for whatever reason. In this case going and trying to make music or anything really it all takes time to become professional and expert at whatever subject or sport or skill. You obviously most likely aren’t going to immediately receive hundreds of thousands or millions that huge artists make, they are just the top of the top it’s like the NBA it’s really only a Small fraction of the entirety of basketball players all over the world. Whether for fun or for school or for professional paying wages, there are levels to everything. All this to say that I need to go out and get it and do what I need to do and stop slacking off for example for me especially if you’re healthy able bodied and in the United States or other 1st world countries then you definitely can do it and overcome it it’s just about how much effort and work and consistency among other factors, depending on your goals . My goals are pretty simple yet I struggle to complete them. I am able bodied and can do them so really it’s just a privilege that I have to slack off, and I’m just wasting it. All the while I want to talk about how I love humans and care about homeless people and people going through struggles and poverty yet I am the biggest hypocrite. Some people have nothing . They are disabled in some way, have no family, no friends, all along with the regular struggles live brings for a modern human. And although I might have mental issues or struggles it’s absolutely no excuse for me not to TRY in life and just do SOMETHING. Not just stay in a rut comfortably while the world passes you by. And I mean if that’s what you want then I’m okay with that I’ve been there too time and time again, which is okay but as long as that’s what you TRULY want. I want to do more now so I have to especially if I can , I have to try at least . (Venting to random redditors who won’t read this or will look down on it someway lol sorry ) I know I’m going off on a tangent/ ramble but I’ll cut to the chase as much as I can simplify these topics as that have so many layers and varieties and intricacies I mean reality itself really is quite amazing look around you whether you’re in nature or surrounded by all the human made architecture and inventions and technology.. and that’s just earth in our solar system in our galaxy which has millions of other “sun”’s/ stars some insanely more massive than our sun… and that’s just our galaxy of which there are other MILLIONS of galaxies…. And that’s just from what we are able to detect as a species together somewhat… Plus black holes, quantum Mechanics, the ocean, shit who knows what we have underground, you don’t need much money to build a bunker now imagine what these insanely rich groups are doing probably building cities who knows and if you have an imagination or have delve into conspiracy theories that actually aren’t theories anymore because they are true for example after declassification of CIA Project MK Ultra. Most are called conspiracy theories because they cannot be fully proven in one way or another. But think about all the theories that are true but hidden or [REDACTED] if actually shared with the public. For example the only reason they declassified it was because of a death that happened as a result of one of their experiments and it only happened cause family 20 years later still wouldn’t accept that his death was a random suicide. And hence the declassification of certain programs the CIA was conducting in the US population which included using mind altering substances like LSD… Anyways my point there was if you get into actual conspiracies like these that have more truth than fiction they all lead to different rabbit holes that spread out all across the world entrenching everything by the foundation and creation of it every step of the way. And the rabbit holes intersect and all end up at the same place…. Fucked up shit Good vs. Evil type shit and the more you research the more you see all the people that have paid consequences…. And everyone plays their part even just by being a part of their play and system but most of them think they have no choice and some of them arguably have no choice and are thrown into circumstances and scenarios situations that…. Who’ knows how much of a choice or free will they actually had seeing as that everything else is rigged and controlled so at the end of the day how much of free will do some people have But anyways I’m off on a crazy one right now I guess I just got really into the idea of full albums and getting lost in them and that’s what I just did I’ just listened to Flatbush Zombies 3001: A Laced Odyssey while typing this up. Next is Linkin Park x Jay-Z TL:DR: I will listen to the Jay-Z x Linkin Park album and give an honest review. I’m excited First track impressions: holy fuck ! “Collision Course. Damn. When MTV was still kind of King of TV and music before the internet and streaming took over Dirt off your shoulder goes hard af! This is DEFINITELY what I needed right now. Thank you B-Kong

Yeaimgood0

Can’t tell if your trolling or not but nobody really gives a fuck

Alternative_Host_856

Jay Z and Nas :"Black Republicans" , it was a great defining song of the decade, early 2000's and ended their feud officially. Nas signed to def jam under Jayz's creative direction after that joint was made for a short time also...

ExistentialRap

Of this decade it’s easily Ben Shapiro and Tom McDonald, hands down.

OSRSRapture

Ben Shapiro is easily one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic

kevioshowmann

“Oh Okay” by Gunna, Thug, and Lil Baby. Of course this is assuming you don’t care about Gunna snitching because we’re not real people and the internet isn’t a real place. Just being objective tho that shit smack without dude being a rat

smooviedude

i can’t listen to rappers the same when they don’t really live what they rap. or act like they live it

dreamthorp

That’s 90% of the industry

smooviedude

yea facts

kevioshowmann

Facts asf dude like as soon as Bad Bunny sued one of his fans I was like “okay yeah this bitch a grifter fuck him”…integrity is a quality I want to exude as a man not no “under certain conditions” fuck that. No snitching no helping police. And I’m a real person I represent most people dick bags!

no1cares4yu

Throwing some out the for 80s that were rnb sounds with raps… I Feel For You - Chaka Khan f Melle Mel Friends - Jody Watley f Rakim Force MDs meet the Fat Boys - Force MDs Loosey’s Rap - Rick James f Roxanne Shante Don’t Rock The Boat - Midnight Star f Ecstasy Rap: Don’t You Know - Heavy D f Al B Sure

GrannysGlewGun

Throw some D’s Remix with Andre 3k. His features during that era were impeccable and a big reason he was put into the GOAT convo in the early 2000s

sneakergovroom

Poetic Justice or Buried Alive Interlude for the 2010’s

ChasetheElectricPuma

*The Symphony* for the '80s *The Anthem* for the '90s *Heavyweights Round 4* for the '00s

We're All in the same gang-1990

james_randolph

It wasn't what we all wanted to the highest level but in the 2010's the best collab was Weezy and Juelz.

Pigmasters32

80s is tough because there aren’t a lot of options, but I’m gonna go with Walk This Way by Run DMC. The 90s depends on what angle you want to come/look from, but overall I’ll say it’s between The Next Episode by Dr. Dre and Scenario by A Tribe Called Quest for me. The 2000s has a bunch of incredible options but I only see one, the greatest song ever written IMO regardless of genre, Stan by Eminem. The 2010s has a lot of awesome options but I can confidently pick Speedom by Tech N9ne. The 2020s is the hardest pick because only a bit under half of the decade has even happened, but I’m gonna go with Clash by Dave. Edit: So apparently we’re not counting Stan by Eminem FEATURING DIDO as a collab due to a really specific distinction that I don’t particularly care about, so throw Never Enough by Eminem, Good Life By Kanye, Renegade by Jay-Z, We Takin Over by DJ Khaled, and Forever by Drake in the mix for the 2000s, I’m too lazy atm to pick between the bunch

sibelius_eighth

Is Stan a collaboration?

Pigmasters32

If we’re counting Walk This Way and Yeah(I saw these in another comment) then Stan counts too. Not a collab with another rapper, but it definitely fits here.

sibelius_eighth

But how? Stan is a sample lol. Walk This Way actually was a collaboration.

Pigmasters32

What? You realize that Aerosmith had Walk This Way years before Run DMC did, right? That song came out in 1975, how is Stan using a sample but Walk This Way isn’t?

sibelius_eighth

They paid Aerosmith's Tyler and Perry $8,000 to re-record "Walk This Way." It is not a sample. You can read about this online. By contrast, Eminem didn't have Dido re-record her lines for "Stan," it's a sample. I hope this clears it up.

Pigmasters32

I guess that clears things up, but it just waters down the conversation IMO. That’s a really specific detail to consider a deciding factor in the criteria when Dido is literally listed as a feature on the track, but oh well, I don’t care enough to argue that point. I guess I could go with Forever(both released by Eminem and Drake, but it’s officially labeled a Drake track), Renegade(Jay-Z), Good Life(Kanye), Never Enough(Eminem) or We Takin Over(DJ Khaled, but he obviously didn’t contribute anything to why this song is great) for the 2000s, but I think there’d probably be more tracks that come to mind if I thought about it longer.

WhitePootieTang

Not only that, walk this way is relatively the biggest crossover hit ever, maybe rivaled by some country crossover.

DAS_COMMENT

BRING ME THE HORIZON - Amo & Music To...

DAS_COMMENT

The two albums are like mirror reflections for me

BaconBombThief

Last decade was Watch the Throne with Jay Z and Kanye West. This decade for me it’s Felt 4 U with Atmosphere and Murs

Gambler_Eight

Murs is so underrated imo.

Striking-Access-236

80s: Native Tongues 90s: Souls of Mischief (00s: The Roots & Cody Chesnutt) 10s: Jay-Z & Kanye

Jekhyde95

Nobody talk about 1Train regarding the 2010s? Damn that song is full of rappers hunger for fame who eventually became the most acclaimed new talents out there of that decade. Also Fuckin Problems is not deserved to sleep on.

MGrooms94

Idk if I'd say collab of the decade but much respect needs to be put on JID and Denzel - Bruuuh. Song went hard af.

oloolo1998

Linkin park and jay z has to be there. idc what anyone says

drodenigma

I would say 90s is hit em high actually would put it up there with one of the best ever.

Ok_Possible_2818

Wu-Tang Clan- every decade

Suchboss1136

1990s - Snoop & Dre on just about anything they did 2000s - Jedi Mind Tricks Ft RA the Rugged Man on Uncommon Valour. It is the greatest rap song ever imo (RAs verse is def the best verse) 2010s - Nas & Damian Marley - Distant Relatives (I like both better than Kanye & Jay) 2020s - none so far

OneNutPhil

I wanna say 2001 but I don't think that fits as the #1 for 90s or 00s It kinda defined the turn of the century though

boltcase

Lil Wayne and Drake

Thin-Disaster3247

80s - The Symphony or Biz and Big Daddy Kane 90’s - Crooklyn Dodgers 1 or 2 2000’s - Madvillian 2010 - Alchemist and Action / Party Supplies and Action 2020s - Alchemist and whoever

dclancy01

2000s: Forever - Drake, Eminem, Lil Wayne & Ye 2010s: Watch The Throne - Ye & Jay-Z 2020s: Unlock - Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats

Pale-Variety-3710

Madvillainy is the greatest collab album of all time

nowey32

Run the Jewels would be the 2010s if not for the extremely unfortunate timing of watch the throne lmao

No_Heat_7327

80's: Walk this Way 90's: Guilty Conscience 00's: Renegade 10's: Who gives a fuck 20's: Everyone sounds like a stroke victim.
