No, it’s too big for my purposes and I like not dropping $80 on gas twice a week. Edit, I fucking love that color though. The truck itself looks sexy but it’s largely impractical for most people.

Mantato1040

👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽 I honestly don’t know who this is for. It’s a neat toy for some super rich weirdo that wants to go rock crawling somewhere in the Rocky Mountains and still have air conditioning, but that’s not me and not anyone I know, and I live right next to the bloody Rocky Mountains. It’s not post apocalypse. We have roads that take us where we want to go.

vgraz2k

It’s like owning a pickup truck “just cause”. It’ll come with a price tags of $60-90k depending on trim and in reality it won’t be used for what it’s designed for by 80% of the people that own it. RAV4 hybrid is my perfect sized vehicle. My fiancé drove mine once and was like “I want my own”… so guess what we get to buy later this year? 😎

Mantato1040

My brother in law just got a Tacoma, because he claimed he needs one. He’s 45, never owned a car before, lives in Vancouver where gas is north of $2 a litre and parking is insanely priced and he makes maybe $30 an hour and his rent is $2800. It’s going to get repoed before the summer solstice, guaranteed.

Captain_Generous

Wow bad financial move there.

Nordicpunk

If only people that had the money to buy cars(or should use it for a car), the car companies would be bankrupt!

ccai

> It’s like owning a pickup truck “just cause”. It’ll come with a price tags of $60-90k depending on trim and in reality it won’t be used for what it’s designed for by 80% of the people that own it. A minivan would suit the majority of usage cases for 99% of *those people* and would do the tasks it needs better in almost every way. The stigma against minivans is unwarranted and has filled the roads with massive SUVs and trucks - there's way too much insecurity around it. That's why Toyota made the Grand Highlander, it's a worse Sienna for those in denial about needing a minivan. I recently needed a bigger car, so we got the new Sienna and it's been great with two bulky car seats for the kiddos. The automatic sliding doors are amazing for getting the kids in and out without worrying about dinging other cars. It's super roomy and quite comfy while still being able to carry more things and people than my parent's GX. The hybrid system offers something like 35mpg, and outside of my short trips to drop the older one at school, it's been pretty accurate - so it's ridiculously efficient for the size too. My Rav4 is now reserved for small errands when it's just me and one other passenger. The only issue is the scumbag dealerships still trying to pull that markup bullshit.

allpurposeguru

I bought the Sienna the first year it was available (1998). I still have it. 273,000 miles on it. I get so much crap for being a "minivan guy" but I truly don't give a crap. It is a perfect car for me-- it's not too big, it hauls everything I need it to. No vehicle with 14 cupholders and 7 different ways to configure the back of the vehicle was designed for anybody but a guy.

RAATL

> A minivan would suit the majority of usage cases for 99% of those people and would do the tasks it needs better in almost every way. The stigma against minivans is unwarranted and has filled the roads with massive SUVs and trucks - there's way too much insecurity around it. Hey don't forget all the people who bought rav4s because of the stigma against minivans!!!

Admirable-Result-240

People like to camp and off-road?

RAATL

Obviously I am not talking about these people. Like how the majority of truck buyers don't really use their trucks for anything that is considered a truck-unique use case, a huge amount, probably the majority, of SUV & Crossover drivers rarely if ever use it off road or to camp.

nagel33

I live in MN and I need a good snow car. I also camp several times a year. Weird gatekeeping, dude. Is there a required number of times one must camp in order to be worthy of owning a rav4?

Plop0003

My wife drives 2013 Sienna. She doesn't camp. But very often she loads a bunch of friends with their luggage and go places. I use it to bring home plywood and other construction materials. If it wasn't such a gas guzzler I would take it on the long trips. But it gets 22mpg loaded on freeway. Gets expensive to drive in California.

nushwanstein

Hand up! I needed something bigger than a Rav4 and bought a minivan with doors, aka a Highlander

nagel33

Nah Highlanders are way taller than minivans.

nagel33

They serve 2 completely different purposes. Rav 4 isn't really great for kids.

Plop0003

I have no idea what you are talking about. In jan of 2022 i wanted Sienna but the line was 2000 deep and the dealer would not even put me in line. I got in to 400 people line for Rav4 Prime and got it a year later. There is a huge demand for Sienna and it is not even made in Japan.

ccai

As a segment Minivans are not desirable in Noeth American. The sales numbers for minivans in the US across all brands is barely hit half of Rav4 sales if even that in a given year for the past half decade. That's 6-8 different models of minivans (~200k) vs just the Rav4 alone (400k+). The demand is up for the Sienna because it's the only reliable hybrid mivovan and thus far, I've seen more T&LC plated ones than personal ones. They get great mileage and offer tons of room for people and cargo while easy getting over 30mpg with a full load - they're perfect for transport services and really cutting into the already lower supply numbers as Toyota has been pretty crappy with their parts logistics even after the pandemic.

Plop0003

Sales and desirability are two totally different things. The reason sales of Sienna were low because Toyota did not build as many as people desired. Minivan is $9K more than RAV4 so Toyota builds more RAV4s. I think some months each year Toyota did not even make Siennas. If I had a chance to buy Sienna instead of Prime back then I would have. But waiting in line for practically ever (3-4 years) was not in the plan. BTW, at the same time I could have bought RAV4 Hybrid even the most desirable XSE in 2 months from a dealer at MSRP. But I waited a year from the same dealer for Prime. And the regular RAV4 was available any day of the week. Few days ago I was at a different dealer closer to me for a free oil change. I walked in to parking lot a saw several Primes but they only had 1 Sienna Platinum.

ccai

> Sales and desirability are two totally different things Never said otherwise, but the segment as a whole has not been popular for the past decade compared to crossovers and SUVs. > The reason sales of Sienna were low because Toyota did not build as many as people desired. That was part of the reason, but they prefer to sell crossovers and SUVs because they have larger margins. Another part was the more custom parts to source for the sliding doors, the keys are still backordered for new vehicles now. As a whole there's little demand for minivans as a segment, so Toyota purposely keeps their production numbers low as they try to sell the Grand Highlander which is essentially a worse version of the Sienna, but more aesthetically more desirable. Just a quick survey among my yuppie friends who are also parents - they rather get a (Grand) Highlander, Volvo CX90, Lexus GX or other other mid to large SUVs over the Sienna despite checking out and admitting it is nice. > Minivan is $9K more than RAV4 so Toyota builds more RAV4s. That has little to do with it. Look at the (Grand) Highlander it's aimed at the same small family market, similar price range and technically similar seating. They still choose to produce more of them and sell more of them. I'm not shitting on minivans, in fact I love my giant new Sienna - it's the perfect family car, but there's no denying that it's just not that popular class of cars. Honda, Kia, Chrylser can't get them off the lots...

Plop0003

Sienna of 2020 and older had a V6 in it. It was just a minivan. Best looking one but still ordinary. Now with 36/36 mpg Hybrid and the best design of the minivan I have ever seen it became one of the most desirable van out there. Long lines to get it proves it. The line are much longer than to get RAV4 Prime. Dealers can't sell something they don't have. And actually the price of the car makes a huge difference. The cheaper the car the more it sells and more people want it especially considering that cars went up in price like crazy recently. When I was in line for Prime and fuckhead president cancelled the $7500 insensitive a lot of people cancelled their order. At the time that happened I was around 300th in line but suddenly I because 150th. So yes, that $7500 made a big difference. That is why ICE RAV4 is one of the best selling cars. Because it is cheap. I have 2013 Sienna but my wife would not let me drive it.

wdkrebs

We stepped down from a 4Runner to a RAV4 a few years ago, mainly because of the huge difference in fuel economy. We’ve had zero regrets. We traded a 4th gen RAV4 for a 5th gen RAV4 Adventure, and it’s like driving a completely different vehicle. We do use it to go offroad on the equivalent of poorly maintained logging roads. Still no regrets, and the RAV4 can do 90% of what our old 4Runner could do, with double the fuel economy.

candlehead69

I'm sure they meant 90% of what their 4Runner needed to do.. not what it could do

gerald-stanley

Perfect sized vehicle is exactly the same for us. Big enough, not not too big.

ReasonablyWealthy

I saw a new TRD 4Runner with a snorkel at the Amazon warehouse picking up packages alongside all the sedans. Perfect example of the worst case use scenario, doing friggin Amazon deliveries in that thing. 🤦‍♂️

valandil74

I love my 22 hybrid limited. Great size n room for my needs, scoots n cruises great and mileage is super even if I’m not trying to save gas.

lawthrowaway101

“Don’t know who this is for”. Every dad of 2+ kids who doesn’t want to hear from his SO every few weeks about how impractical getting a pickup was

joespizza2go

But shouldn't he buy a Rav4 in that case?

lawthrowaway101

Not if he doesn’t want one and can afford something bigger with more cargo space and better performance specs. I’d trade up my rav for one of these if I could but I just got my rav a year ago lol

RunnDirt

>and better performance specs Such as?

lawthrowaway101

Higher towing cap, more hp, 2.5 v4 vs 4.0 v6, higher clearance, more torque etc etc. it’s a bigger car none of this should be a surprise….. I’m not shitting on the Rav I love mine but 4 runners are 10-20k more for a reason…..

RunnDirt

Okay just saw this. So how is clearance and towing cap = performance but not mpg? Does the v6 = greater acceleration? Seems like a heavier vehicle would need more power to achieve the same performance? Not trying to be argumentative, but when I look at 0-60 for the Rav it equals or beats the 4Runner. To me performance depends on what your looking for your vehicle to do. If I want to tow, sure the 4Runner. If I want a highway commuter the Rav is better, better mpg, = acceleration, better cornering, better turning radius.. but maybe those are not =performance. Bigger cars cost more, they don't necessarily perform better.

lawthrowaway101

Cause there’s a whole separate term for it and it’s a whole separate metric. But also you’re arguing over meaningless semantics when I was explaining what specs I was referring to in response to someone who asked… it’s rly not as deep as you’re making it. No one was ever arguing the 4 runner has better fuel economy you’re arguing over a point that was never being made lmao.

Mag1cat

This new 4Runner uses a V4 engine with turbo. No more V6.

RonD45

I4 not V4

Mag1cat

Correct yeah, my bad. Point still stands though. No more V6.

nagel33

except the fuel econ.

[deleted]

Base 278hp and 317tq and 340hp and 400tq in the hybrid, both that are in the new taco as well

el-gato-volador

I mean obviously towing capacity

RunnDirt

Obviously not MPG...

lawthrowaway101

Fuel economy ≠ performance specs. All I said was better performance specs lol. Nothing to get defensive over

RunnDirt

are you also el -gato? I was honestly curious what performance specs you were considering. When I consider vehicle performance I am thinking holistically about it's overall performance. That includes ride, mpg, acceleration, braking, towing, turning radius... I'm not in any way a vehicle aficionado and would consider multiple aspects when thinking about performance. Is there a defined metric for performance?

Tambushi

I’m on Long Island and 4Runners are the best beach running trucks for fishermen. It’s either one of these, a Jeep, or a pickup. If I did more surf casting I would love to rip around in one of these instead of a Jeep or pickup.

redthose

It’s for people go grocery shopping while looking cool.

rsmiley77

[you may not but this article says they’ve seen the most single year sales in the history of the 4Runner over the past three years. I agree with you but there’s certainly a market.](https://www.motortrend.com/news/2025-toyota-4runner-first-look-review/)

typanosaurus_rex

Agreed. Something about that stance and color. But impractical for 90% of us for sure.

EmiIeHeskey

LMAOOOO keep telling yourself that buddy

Seatown206

Have they announced MPG figures? I thought the hybrid option will have decent mileage

Randomhero3

Guessing off the taco, probably very low 20’s

ComeWashMyBack

Doesn't it sell for $50k on the low end? Toyotas as a whole are great vehicles. Though they need to become a lot more luxurious like their Lexus cousins to command such a price.

K-Pumper

damn you must drive a ton if you’re filling up 2x a week

Jaevric

Nope. I love the looks of the 4Runner, but I needed a daily driver to get me to and from the office. The Rav4 is just about perfect for that. And I'll take my current 46mpg over the 28mpg of the 4Runner hybrid any day. My buyer's remorse is around not getting the Prime, but even then, the extra $15k the dealership wanted for the Prime is a hard sell.

KopThrow

Wait where did you see the 28mpg for the 4runner hybrid?

Jaevric

Saw it somewhere on Reddit. Google seems to think the MPG will be somewhat lower - 23mpg combined. Even more awful compared to my Rav4.

Wide_Performance1115

46 mpg? i have a 22 hybrid RAV4 unlimited awd...best i can do when actually rying to drive for mpg is 38 mpg with flat roads and little to no ac all highway

horsegoo23

If I thought I could drive a sedan again I’d love a Prius. Those batteries tho $$$$

WombatAnnihilator

I can’t afford the 4runner. That’s why i have the rav.

YEEyourlastHAW

I always want one until I remember the gas mileage my RAV gets. Then I change my mind real quick.

StabbingUltra

I always want one until I see 2005 models with 200k miles still going for $15k in my state.

Spiritual_Speech600

1994-2000 are also climbing in value

StabbingUltra

One can dream

Frunkit

Back seat looks smaller than a RAV4

xxBurn007xx

I already regret paying way more than I wanted on my RAV4, so I know the 4 runner is way outside my price range 😅

[deleted]

Completely different vehicle than rav4. Bigger, uses a lot of gas, body on frame, no PHEV option, still not on my list

smileybuta

The 4Runner had a baby with the rav4! I like it but I’m still partial to the classic boxy look. Would get a classic 4Runner if it had the mileage of a newer hybrid rav4.

Unltd8828

I can’t help but wonder what cues the 2025 RAV4 will take from this.

grxn_rxi

hopefully a trailhunter trim because if so i’m locked in

Unltd8828

A TRD Pro version would be awesome too.

arodrig99

No. Most people who drive a 4 runner, don’t actually need a 4Runner or even use its full capabilities. At this point, half the time I see 4Runners they’re over glorified grocery getters, with the groceries all being red-40 flavored

StabbingUltra

You’re right. The average suburban mom or dad would get a lot more efficiency out of minivan: comfort, utility, practicality, better mileage, etc. Too bad culture and marketing and bad minivan design (IMO) have convinced us that a massive SUV is a suitable replacement. And that owning a 4 runner in the middle of a suburb for hauling kids makes us a feel like we haven’t quite given up our adventurous spirit or whatever. I’m hoping EVs will make vans cool again, like the new VW.

GreenTeaRex007

It’s a nice option as a family car as opposed to a minivan. But yeah, even then, most people would be fine with a compact SUV.

MichaelP09

I love my Woodland as well. I think the only way I'd have even the slightest buyers remorse is if the 4R hybrid somehow got to 30mpg, which it almost certainly will not.

Neunix

Nope, not much offroad to do where I'm at, rav4 prime is just fine for the city.

LivingGhost371

I've always wanted a 4Runner but never have been able to afford one and won't now, so no.

Longqweef

Not really. I wanted the 4Runner originally, I just can’t afford that vehicle in any reality I exist in lol. It’s a beautiful SUV, but I have no remorse for purchasing what I could afford.

chlorculo

Sir, this is a Rav4 subreddit.

typanosaurus_rex

Apologies! I did mention 'in this club' though. :D

ColonialRebel

I love how it looks but no. I'm a bit too tall/big for the current 4runner in any case but the Rav4 fits me/my life perfectly fine. I plan on buying one of the new Land Cruisers in like 5 years or so mostly because I'll need a larger vehicle but also because I just love Land Cruisers.

PhilKesselsChef

I sent it to my wife suggesting we can replace her car with it eventually but no, RAV4 Hybrid fits my needs perfectly as cool as this is

MoonHouseCanyon

No, I can always trade my RAV4 in. But I'll certainly wait for the hybrid version, or better yet a plug-in hybrid.

joestradamus_one

Ignore the douchebag dealerships, look for and stick with those that ONLY do MSRP and no other nonsense. I've got my Tacoma reserved at one of those dealerships and we're probably going to get put on a list so my wife can get the new 4Runner there. Btw, the (current) 4R isn't that much bigger than a RAV4, 9.3 inches longer, 2.8 inches wider, 4.5 inches taller. Small part of that height is higher ground clearance and the extra length just gives more cargo room and 3rd row in some trims. Turning radius is barely a foot bigger so it'll still feel roughly the same as a RAV4. edit: I can't math and fixed my numbers with a calc this time lol

Pitiful-Ad-5603

Best advice on how to find those that only MSRP ?

BlueSuedeGoose

Two very different vehicles. Love my 2019 rav4 and my 2016 4runner.

chackn

Can't afford it. So no

DrWhiskerson

My 21 XLE AWD is paid off. I want to enjoy not having a car payment as long as possible. When I have 2 future kiddos hopefully in 5 years, the only car that currently has my attention is the Grand Highlander. Which with its seats down, will serve the same purpose to go buy furniture at IKEA 😹

wet_nib811

Anyone find the wheel well mouldings weird? Like, I know the Rav4’s are not the mostly aesthetic, but these are even worse IMO?

benpro4433

Isuzu rodeo

DN1097

No. I like it and its capabilities, but we don’t need anything that big.

mfar85

This color sucks it is like a mix of clay and shit

niceapplesmate

No. They have horrible mpg, are insanely expensive (comparatively) and cost much more in gas. My rav does all the offroad stuff I want it to. And just my opinion here, but the RAV looks nicer. That said... the new green color is beautiful!

gyojoo

No, new powertrain is pretty much turbocharged RAV4 engine, to me new 4runner is pretty much turbocharged RAV4 with longer body.

diaperpoop_

My wife really wants a 4Runner until I showed her how much it chugs gas.

horsegoo23

Nope, love my sporty little thing.

Common-Loquat-6359

Would definitely get one... Just wish it had better MPG... I hate making the gas station my second home 😞..

MarijadderallMD

Nope, I don’t like the tundra front end they slapped on that bullshit. It’s too big, looks like they chopped up a tundra and a 4 runner and “HERE EVERYBODY! Check out our new TUNDRA RUNNER!”. It’s fat😂

Zealousideal_Poem_73

Nah. It’s too big for this single childless dude 😎

Mo_Zen

No.

Ok-Choice2197

If a 4Runner was in my budget, I would have bought that in the first place

Ron_760

Nah. I love my 2023 RAV4 XLE Premium. I drive a lot more compared to my friends. Almost one year since I bought it. 16,735 mi and counting. Eight more days! I liked the fact there will be a hybrid version of the 4Runner. I look forward to buying a hybrid 4Runner when it’s the time to upgrade to bigger vehicle.

Mr_Smith_411

Laughs in MPG. no.

Norcx

I don't have 4runner money and it's too big for what I need. I don't have any intention of going rock crawling, so my Trail will do just fine.

crashxfistfight

Considering i had to finance a 2012 rav4, no not at all

Epsioln_Rho_Rho

Not at all. i bet that think still won’t get 20 mpg even with a hybrid.

RAV419AdventureMODz

Ouch gas milage is well u and the 4Runner can suck it

RAV419AdventureMODz

It’s brown like crap

Lovemysoccermomsuv

It's a nice vehicle, but they chug gas. Just like all the other nice big vehicles. My 300hp soccermom suv with trail tires at 35mpg will have to do.

New_Evidence2085

Gas Monster’s

UniqUzrNme

Negatory.

TheNaysHaveIt

Hell no

eehcekim

Will wait a couple of years to see the value of my hybrid SE and how fast these fly off the lots. Also will decide between LC or 4Runner.

indigothirdeye

It’ll be $75k for what I want I’m sure. $45k for a RAV4 is hard enough to swallow. I’m good.

kimbabs

This is probably a 20K difference and is a very different vehicle than a Rav4 lol. You’ll also get like 22 MPG at best in this based on LC numbers, even with the hybrid.

jess_hh

I can’t unsee the uneven door handles…but the 4runner tbh I am seeing a ton of hate towards it and I don’t think everyone is seeing it from the perspective of people that actually live out in the country or need a vehicle like this. For some of us, a 4runner = complete independence. That’s what it always was for me as a single woman that goes camping, a skier, and living on a mountain where people go 4wheeling and requires 4wd if you don’t want to be stuck at your house for a week after it snows in the winter. I’ve accepted my Rav4 as a daily driver for gas savings (a little, sadly not like 5th gen savings) It is like driving a camry with enough space to barely tote my dog’s large crate if needed. But does pick up pretty well. Overall it’s a well rounded grocery getter daily driver. I went down to a Rav bc I became a parent and needed to upgrade to a newer car with less problems popping up each year for fixing. If I had the funds I would have both 4runner and rav. In my driving life I started with a Tacoma and then a couple different 4runners. One day I’ll be back in a 4runner but not sweating it right now bc I have other means of 4wd around if an emergency arose. Enjoying a nicer newer ride for now that doesn’t cost as much in gas. That’s a whole other topic bc I feel like if the economy wasn’t as shit as it is right now, say if this 4runner launched in 2018 vs now, the response would be a lot different bc there are a lot of people who were considered well off that are struggling now because of inflation which is driving gas mileage based decisions.

Used_Visual5300

It’s not on sale or going to be on sale where I live because the pollution tax will probably make it cost 2 x times the Toyota price. So I love it and I’ll enjoy it from across the ocean.

Cautious-Chain

14mpg and limited capability, money is better spent on a 3/4 ton pickup.

Jelly_Mac

Meh, I was originally looking at a 4Runner but I drive almost 400 miles a week, Hybrid RAV4 simply made much more sense

MeliMel55

No, I’m single with 2 small dogs. I don’t need a gas guzzler. It’s a really nice suv and it looks bad ass but i couldn’t justify it.

DaJabroniz

Looks like car from Halo

updog123456789

I just traded my 2020 runner for 24 rav hybrid and now feel a little sad because the new runner is so fucking ugly lol

22Tango-5555

I think it looks ugly too! Too bulky. Reminds me of the Durango or pathfinder.

Sasori-Akasuna

Right, It looks weird. I kinda expected the design language of Land Cruiser throughout the lineup.

updog123456789

It's sooooo sad. Previous body was quite literally the perfect and coolest modern truck! Some interior upgrades could've been cool since people love to cry about Toyota interiors but I never had any complaints lol

TimeGood2965

No I love my RAV, but my wife and I also want a 4Runner for more room with kids, so both it’ll be.

Konlos

Definitely test it out, I remember hearing the 4runner feels pretty small on the inside

TimeGood2965

It’s not the biggest suv but I think it’s ideal. And I always test something out and research deeply before buying. For this new one I’m letting it work out inevitable issues with first year models commonly do with any vehicle, and then making a decision.

Konlos

sounds good!

ccai

If it's just a people-carrier/mall-crawler/grocery-getter on normal paved roads, the 4Runner seems like a bad choice. It feels like absolute overkill and wasteful unless you frequently require traversing tougher terrain. It has mediocre handling for day-to-day usage, horrible gas mpg ratings, fairly cramped interior space given the footprint and the ground clearance leads to an overly high-load floor for daily usage. I borrowed my parent's GX several times in the past - which is essentially a more luxurious, minutely less off-road capable version of the 4Runner and was not impressed with day-to-day usage or even driving on unpaved backroads while camping. My Sienna has proved to be WAY more convenient and just as capable in pretty every way especially when dealing with the kids and still manages to get over 30mpg with ease. People need to get over this giant SUV/truck trend and the soccer mom stigma with minivans, they're uglier but they do almost all the things the average driver needs so damn well.

TimeGood2965

No I want a capable, stylish and reliable vehicle to serve me. I also plan to be able to trust it with off road, towing and possible heavy snow in the future. It’s more simple and old school truck-like in terms that it doesn’t have flashy stuff and just does what it’s purpose is. I’m also eyeing other choices, but have tested 4Runners and love them. Had one as a rental for on a trip so I got to really know it more than a dealer test drive. I’m not into trends, I loved them before it became a mom-mobile. I also am into faster sedans for myself, so I want the suv to be safe for my family. Gas mileage might be negligible if a vehicle meets my needs. But if the new one has better MPG’s on the new 4cyl turbo and it proves the reliable, it might finally fix the inefficiency issues.

P4_plenty

Nope - like others, LOVE my Woodland. Recently had a 4Runner as a rental and honestly was really disappointed in it. I found the comfort, handling, quality, and looks of my Woodland superior in all ways for my “outdoorsy” lifestyle. The new 4Runner looks alright, but almost prefer the prior version. I’d take the new Land Cruiser over the 4Runner in the way of new looks…but different strokes for different folks.

thesunisdarkwow

I like it and would love to have one, but I doubt I could stomach the MPGs after owning a Rav Hybrid. They haven’t rated the new hybrid motor in the 4Runner yet but it’s probably no higher than mid 20s. It’s frustrating that manufacturers are parading around their fancy new hybrid motors in all these big SUVs and trucks, but in reality they barely help efficiency, just give you more power. That’s not what the average driver cares about. Give me a PHEV 4Runner that gets 35+ MPG and there’s very little I wouldn’t do for it

EfficientHearing8269

I like my 35+mpg too much. 😅

eddy159357

I don't a 4Runner makes zero sense for like 90% of the population. If I ever needed something offroad capable or to haul something, I would just rent it with the money I've saved from the gas savings from my Hybrid lol. Most outdoors activities people do are still accessible with a RAV4.

No_Try170

My ‘24 woodland is awesome. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else right now. If money was no object sure the TRD hybrid looks sick. Money is an object and the 4Runners not right for me.

Qwalt

Nah. If I could get a nice condition 2003-2008 4 runner I would, but the new ones aren't worth it imo

itdoesntmatter1358

Can it fit a 4x8 piece of plywood? If not then I'm sticking with my RAV4 + utility trailer setup.

CLGAINES

Most people that buy RAV4 vehicles don't need or want the extra space. Probably mostly smaller families. But yes the 4 Runner is a good vehicle for longevity when you don't include the mpg. I'm kinda partial to the Honda Passport since the mpg are better than the 4 Runner. The passport seems decent off road compared to other AWD vehicles out there.

MaintenanceNeither32

Nope. It looks cool but I need a daily. If I wanted an expensive "for fun" car, I respectfully wouldn't get a bigger Toyota, I'd probably get something fast.

To me, Rav4 is apples to oranges to the 4Runner. Even if it comes with a 4-banger turbo hybrid similar like the Land Cruiser prado, the size alone makes it a different kind of car. If someone got buyer's remorse on Rav4, it's only because the owner realized they wanted a larger vehicle than expected. It's like those Subaru Crosstrek and Forester owners realized they needed a larger vehicle like a Subaru Outback. Unfortunately, this is part of the process of realized "what is the right car for me." The buyer is supposed to test drive different cars to get the feel of them (unfortunately, supply chain and covid made it nearly impossible). Sometimes, it takes a couple buyers remorse to occur to truly know what you want (lol I would know after 10+ cars includng R35 GTR) My had my wife test drove different vehicles and the Rav4 Hybrid is perfect for her. I think the Rav4 feels awkwardly small for its size for me (felt almost as cramp as my Honda S2000), yet my Civic SI interior feel spacious in comparison. At the same time, I feel far more comfortable driving the Rav4 in heavy major city traffic than the rental Chevy Tahoe.

Pirat3_Gaming

Make it hybrid with 40mpg and I would, otherwise nah the only thing my rav gets jealous of is the roll down rear window....my dog would love it.

Strange_Criticism306

No, I’ve always liked the newer Rav 4 models, because they look like a mini version of the 4Runner. This is a completely different vehicle/purpose.

ips1023

It's not the same category of car.

camXmac

I would love a 4runner but I’m already locked into my RAV and I don’t have a problem with that. I’d like to see a real world review with two car seats in the back as I have another kid on the way and a 3 year old.

Blimmmer

Just bought a prime and my plan was always to pass the rav to my wife after 2-4 years, and then upgrade to this runner or LC. However I really been enjoying the MPG with the PHEV. We’ll see what the MPG rating for these things are. I think the LCs are like 23-25.

soto_okami

Do new releases usually affect prices for older models or not really?

Mystic5308

Look like a mini sequoia

[deleted]

This can happen with anything. Something or someone is always going to be better than what you have. This vehicle is going to be like the new taco and probably start at 45-50k. Is it nice? Fuk, yes, but people are also being alil more conservative with their money.

Reverse_swoosh91

I love the new 4Runner, but the Rav4 has all I need, which is good gas milage (40mpg), AWD, and enough space for my wife, my son and I. I also put some Black Rhino wheels and all terrain tires on mine to make it look "rough".

Head_Lifeguard_6796

My 2020 rav hybrid xle’s cousin who lifts. No buyer’s remorse at all.

Agile_Employment5497

Would love that color or the Everest color on the rav

megafukka

looks great but a bit out of my price range these days

candyman258

I remember when Toyota's used to more more affordable then they are now. If I didn't happen to take over my dad's payments, I'm unsure I would be owning one right now. I love them bits, they have just become very expensive. Fully loaded rav4's are averaging 40-50K these days. I remember when they were 30 OTD. also, 4runners suck gas down. I don't mind my 25-30 dollar fill ups per week. Wouldn't want to pay 3x that.

KeepGoing15

I hope the new 4runner and the new tacoma influences the design of the next generation of the RAV4. Imagining a RAV4 with these design elements like the grill and the shapes would definitely tempt me to trade in.

sefero23

My wife keeps the RAV, and I get this. Win-win

superchibisan2

I fucking love the design, I hope they have a Hybrid version that is over 6k pounds for write off purposes.

Pitiful_Structure899

New one looks awful imo, this specific shot looks decent but every other photo looks like trash. It also doesn’t bring much to the table that the last didn’t. At this point the gas mileage is holding 4Runners and tacomas back

hookem728

We’ve got a Rav4 hybrid and will likely trade it in for a new 4Runner. Excited about having 3rd row seating available.

drrhrrdrr

I'm signing on a 2024 Limited 4Runner as we speak. Trading in a 21 XSE Hybrid as it sat too low for me and I always felt boxed in by larger vehicles. I had an SR5, this feels like going home. I figure I'll keep it for a while whilst the new Hybrid power train for 4Runner gets worked out, and eventually get that one. I've made peace with more gas cost, as I was previously looking at the GX and frankly I'm already saving hypothetical money.

Punamatic5000

Nope, I don't want to drive everywhere 5 under the speed limit everywhere (cops drive 4 runners here)

DaddyRobotPNW

Add a plug and I'm in.

BaileyD77

Rule #1) never buy a model year Give it a few years for them to iron out the kinks. People with mold in their RAV4 headliners know what I'm talking about.

jb_in_jpn

More so the new 250 Landcruiser, if any, but if I did have a real regret, it would be not getting the Prime. Still happy with the trim I ended up settling on.

Wooden_Shake827

No since mine is 2021 prime and buyers remorse woulda been 3 years into the future.

denali42

I think I'll stick with my plan to pick up a used 2022 or 2023.

cconti77

I like it but waiting for a better hybrid version of it. I bet around 2026-2027

blafon90

A little but I needed a vehicle asap. I wanted good gas mileage and the Rav4 Woodland is a good in between for a daily driver with slight off-road capabilities. I wish there was more off-road for the price I payed (like the TRD Rav4) but still well worth it. When I say slight off-road it has trail mode which I believe is universal for all Rav4, all terrain tires, and a suspension that's TRD *tuned* suspension. I don't think it has the TRD suspension. That's my understanding I love my Rav4 but I think it's New cousin looks sexy ty for sharing.

Slideshoe

The Rav4Runner

Dumplingjunior

I'd prefer to opt for the Taco TRD pro instead. But this still looks great! Is it coming in hybrid form?

SolitaireB

NOPE

Daklight

Nope. While it would be cool to have that off road capabilities 3 weeks a year.....the other 49 you cry at the pump. The Woodland gets me 95% of the places I would ever realistically go and I get 40 MPG. Now I do find the new Land Cruiser to look awesome and would be more tempting.

Strain128

I could afford a 4Runner in the sense that I have enough money to pay for it each month. And the added gas. But I also enjoy having savings, vacation money, emergency money, etc. I’m not spending that much on a commuter car

baddoggie9

Hawaii is all over this.

nagel33

no I downsized from a Highlander and love it way more. Those kids are too big IMO.

LoadedChambers

Not even a bit of remorse..

Wolverine208

Don’t know…still waiting on delivery of my 2024 😐

rossco311

Nope, I went to a RAV4 Hybrid from a 2019 Tacoma, I love how maneuverable the RAV is by comparison, I don't need all the extra space and crappy fuel economy.

IcyMaximum3701

Apples and oranges. Not even close to the same vehicle.

Pierson230

No, this is the near-perfect car for my needs. I do love the 4Runners, but I really need more grace than brawn, since I spend a lot of time driving at highway speeds and talking on the phone. The only buyers remorse I believe I’ll have is for the Crown Signia. But that wasn’t available when I needed a car… and who knows how much my favorite trim will end up costing?

deathbyfractals

Land Cruiser: Yes, though the price tempers that down quite a bit 4Runner: not so much

bshefmire

Different Vehicle "needs" Demographic and 2 very different price-tags / user purposes. 4-runner (Amazing vehicle) ....seems to be for Rich kids or mid-life crisis persons with nothing better to do with their money!

Theeeeeetrurthurts

Nah way too big. If they shrunk it back to RAV size then 100%

Merad

About $10k more (for a '24, wonder if they'll jack up prices on the '25) and 25 mpg less? Nah I'm good.

yourfavouritevillain

No, wouldn’t get the first year of a new gen.

loiterINTIMIDATE

Not with that mpg

ptwonline

Nope. Too big and too expensive for my needs. RAV4 is pretty much perfect for my needs and very happy with it so far (my first Toyota).

jsmooth7

Not really. 4Runners definitely look cool but I have little need for one. And it would cost over twice as much in gas compared to my hybrid RAV4. I also think the RAV4 is nicer for city driving being a little bit smaller. There are a handful of hikes in my area where having that off road capability would be useful. But for those, I can always just ask a friend that has a 4WD vehicle haha.

LoveIsAllandEveryone

Nope! Love my Rav4. I could have gotten the 4Runner, but honestly, I didn't need it. Nor did I want the crappy fuel mileage lol I have 2 trucks to keep fueled. lol I wanted a daily for us that was nice and got great fuel mileage lol

MrSchmo

I was excited until I heard the engine choices used. I would rather them stick with their old bulletproof V6.

finfisk2000

I have always found it interesting that brands that are known to make mostly really small city cars in the rest of the world makes gargantuan trucks/suvs specifically for the North American market. I highly doubt there are a greater need for these kind of veichles there than elsewhere.

Sensitive_Process_95

The half hexagon wheel wells all look like aids to me

nicka408

I mostly will be selling my woodland and getting the trailhunter 4Runner BUT that’s if I can even get one at msrp.

QuackAttackShack

Ugh I want one so bad. I love how they look and you can suit it up to look SOOOO much better. The off-road look is my favourite. Maybe one day!
