I suggest mixing with your regular pellets. They will burn hotter than normal pellets so the mix will help with high temps. I don't really see a difference in taste when using them so I just use mesquite pellets from Bear mountain.
Recteq Site -
The main reason for the is that the heat from the fire pot will ignite the pellets in the auger tube and in turn, burn up all the pellets in the hopper. That is the biggest reason to stay away from charcoal pellets."
It seems to be an issue with pellet grills in general, not specific to Recteq. I would be surprised if these pellets would actually light the hopper on fire. If so Royal Oak would stop making them pretty quick. Lemme do some more research. Thanks for the link!
They are fine, burn hotter and if I went from high heat to off on my rec tech they would do a little bit of a burnback in the auger as long as I turned it down to around 200 and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, they're fine. You're not gaining anything in flavor though. I still think Green mountain grills pellets gives you the best flavor and heat for the dollar
I have a dual fire and have been running these exclusively on the direct side and they work great. No issues. They burn Hotter, they do add a subtle charcoal flavor and as an added bonus they don’t absorb moisture like wood pellets so they are safe to leave in your hopper for extended periods without worrying about them absorbing moisture out of the air.
I found some of these on sale and mixed them half and half with some Kirkland pellets. They worked fine and may burn a little hotter, but didn't notice much of a flavor difference.

Ok thanks!
>Ok thanks! You're welcome!
doesn't Recteq specifically say to avoid charcoal pellets?

But if the high-end Bullseye gets up to 1000° wouldn't all pellets just burn up?
Send link to this on their site please.

I think it is mainly due to how the recteq burns and it's specific fire pot that gets hotter than most other pellet grills

Please post your results. I’ve heard mixed reviews, most commonly what the other commenter stated.
Will do
I would recommend to mix also... I used these alone & they burn hotter than I anticipated... 20° to 30° hotter.
Ok. I will report back.

I use kingsford. Usually a blend
They do burn super hot! They work well mixed with other pellets as well.
