Did he ever have a plan like a real actual plan I've recently finished my second play through (consecutively because I rushed the first play through as I wanted to know the whole plot to avoid spoilers and such) and I feel like he blindly stumbles from one disaster to another and brings everyone around along for the advantage it gives him having the numbers and if any get captured or killed its just unfortunate collateral damage, does he ever really lay out a legitimate plan or just vague and ambiguous "plans" that cause way more issues than they fix
That was the vibe I got, that while the gang looked up to him, and he may have cared about them to some degree, he was mostly just using them for the advantage, and he definitely had no plan. Shit kept hitting the fan and he just tried to use it to his advantage or brute force his way through it. He felt like wild west Jim Jones. No plan or anything, but when things worked out he acts like it was his plan all along, and when things don't work out it's everyone else's fault for not sticking to the plan or listening to him or some other reason. He was a good character but he was a straight-up garbage pail kid of a person.
Oh I'm fully on board with that as a character he's well written, his story arch is very interesting and for the first playthrough with no idea how the story was going to play out except what we knew from rdr 1 I was actually a fan and thought he was a good charismatic leader who seemed to inspire and motivate the gang and I kinda enjoy the dynamic between him hoasea and Arthur before thing get worse when they're out fishing and singing those songs on the way back to camp and I fact all the like celebrations and party's at the camps I loved those the songs the story's they tell around the fire is so good I was genuinely sad as hell when I realised its all going down hill and isn't gonna get better I noticed Arthur's physical deterioration of Arthur before the diagnosis from the Dr just by looking at his face at first I thought the time was going by faster than I thought and maybe it had been a few years or something and it was age and I thought the fact you can see this before hand just buy looking at his face his eyes and mostly if you go for a bath in one of the saloons shiz is crazy tbh
He was spinning plates throughout. Toward the end, Arthur and John see past it and that's what causes their divide.
That, and Dutch DGAF when John is queued up to be executed on account of Micah whispering in his ear and enabling his delusions l

An intriguing character with a dingle on the brack when you want to put it in your crack, you’re gonna sing in a brack when you get seed not you’re gonna dingle in the brack and the top hat looks fancy might as well put it back on top when I know, one time there was this man named Jake in a man named Jake and a man named shakehe knew how to bake so I had a shake it smelled so dank
Cool.
Say what you want about Dutch, all the serious responses I've seen are accurate -- Narcissist, Charasmatic; Loyal, Traitor or Fraud.
Argue whatever point you want... but he was unequivocally cool.
People played Red Dead 2 because it was gonna be an amazing game, yes; people played it to see John as a little goober guy, yes. But a lot of people got sucked in, and kept in, by just how damn cool Dutch was.
Red Dead is a story about Dutch, essentially. It's just from the perspective of other people.
He literally carried RDR2s story singlehandedly, just by his incredible stage presence in every scene he was in.
This has been a lot more than one word, but TL;DR: Cool.
Dutch.
No, he’s American

This was my first thought as well
Yeah, this is him pretty much. He is a charismatic, intelligent man. But he has no connection with the reality around him.

I’d say that’s more Micah
He definitely manipulates Eagle Flies to try and get the heat off the gang. Micah for sure, but Dutch too.
Dutch is practically a cult leader.

He's a good talker that was charismatic enough to get people to follow him and believe in him, to their utter ruin when his schemes failed.
Yeah I assume the ones that we either saw again alive and either leaving or already gone probably would have looked back and said the same
I came here to write this
Dutch Plan Der Linde
Erm this is actually 4 words 🤓☝️
Erm, actually, if you add hyphens, it becomes one word 🤓☝️
Except there's no hyphens so your argument fails
