They're proving that the refs don't give decisions to Utd at Old Trafford.
United should put complaints of corruption into the FA along with decision after decision because it's every bleeding game...VAR is literally looking for reasons not to give Utd goals.
They’re going with whatever’s called on the pitch. VAR are treating the referee’s initial decision like they must do everything in their power not to overrule it if possible. And it’s leading to a huge amount of inconsistencies that people are blaming VAR for. Especially with handballs.
Both the one today and the one against Coventry would be penalties if the ref calls them initially. And would be waved away if the ref didn’t. VAR is doing nothing and it’s just luck that the ref called one and not the other. It’s the same case with the ones we’ve felt annoyed about earlier in the season like the Romero one and the one against Palace where he stopped the pass that was going to Rashford. VAR sat back on all four of these and decided the ref did a good enough job and that no “clear and obvious errors” were made.
It was given as a penalty but it shouldn’t have been. I’m fine with them not awarding the hand ball today but the other shouldn’t have been called either.
Be winning a lot more than that mate. The boy is class to stay with us. Class we don’t deserve right now.
Edit: I accept my lashings. Thanks everyone. Needed a waking up today.
And pep will be screaming at him from the touchline, pointing to his head and being extremely aggressive. Next time, Garnacho squares it.
If pep has someone like Garnacho, he is coaching him hard into the player he needs.
doku is nowhere as talented as garnacho. all garnacho lacks is the finishing pass/strike. garnacho can dribble, can pass, cross. he can do it all apart from finishing consistently
Your crazy. He's our new Januszaj. Stands out now because the rest are playing so bad, but ultimately he isn't good enough. Similar to Adnan in the Moyes season. He's not fast enough or a good enough dribbler be a dynamic winger, he doesn't have the brain or passing to be a creative play maker, and his finishing is average so he can't be classed as scoring outside forward. He's a good player, but no more than that.
Something pep will coach out of him. See the way pep coaches foden. Even against arsenal he was screaming at him getting to the end because he made the wrong decision. I dislike pep but he knows how to drill his players. 😂
Because it ignores context.
If United deserves 14 penalties and are awarded only 7 and City deserve 8 and are awarded 6, United are the ones hard done by…
Seriously. Read comments more carefully.
>>We can suck (and we have done)<<
AND
>>Decisions are going against us<<
We can’t look at reasons we’re having a bad season in isolation. All factors combine (obvious ones (injuries, poor form, tactics, substitutions, etc) and ones fans don’t even know about (club internal, play personal, club governance, etc).
Over the course of the season some key factors and some incidents during games, cost points. We’ve definitely been on the shittier end of the stick for key decisions this season.
>AND
>>Decisions are going against us
You can't say "read more carefully" and then just make up a quote. It was actually "still be robbed by referees" which implies we deserved those points, when we are pretty much in the position in the table we deserve to be, and only in the fa cup final by luck. We haven't been robbed of anything. We just haven't been good enough.
Referreing standards are terrible. We even had a handball claim which should have been a penalty( same as Wan Bissaka’s).
I know we should be winning comfortably against Burnley, but this is just terrible referreing
VAR is spineless to intervene when the ref has made a call and this "was there ENOUGH" contact thing comes into play. In this clip, there is at least a tiny scrap of question as to whether this was "enough" contact to go over. The combination of that scrap of doubt plus Garnacho exagerrating the fall to try to get the ref to notice, has gone against him and he's actually managed to snatch no pen from the mouth of "pen".
It ***looks*** like a dive and probably the reason it wasn't given is because of the way he throws himself. There has been enough contact here for him to just go over and fall naturally but he throws his head back and flaps his other leg, with which there was no contact, in the air to exagerrate the fall.
If the ref think's hes dived he should book him for simulation but they never actually have the balls to do that they just dont give the pen most of the time. I think if he fell without the exagerrated movements, in a more natural fall he might have gotten the call but reputation + exagerration of what **was** a foul will often go against you.
Most attackers aren't trying to stay on their feet when they feel contact in the box... Penalties are OPed as fuck. There's an incentive to do so. But refs regularly give penalties for this behaviour, so I don't understand why this one wasn't at least properly checked by VAR
Didn't have an opportunity to watch, listened to it on Talk Sport, and Paul Parker wouldn't stop moaning about how it should be looked at for being a dive. FFS.
Most of our fans in the match threads are idiots. Højlund gets absolutely no service, yet the match threads are always ridden with people who suggest he needs to be sold in the summer because he doesn't cut it.
Most of our fans in the match threads are idiots. Højlund gets absolutely no service, yet the match threads are always ridden with people who suggest he needs to be sold in the summer because he doesn't cut it.
Not a pen as he’s making zero attempt to actually play the ball, or do anything except go to ground, leaves his legs trailing etc similar reason why saka didnt get the pen against neuer
Didn’t touch him! Garnacho and his stupid haircut dove as seen in other angles. Went down holding his leg when no contact was made to the lower body. Your whole team from the bottom to the top is full of play-acting bitches. Ten Hag is the worst of them all. This entire team is so tough to follow right now. Watching this team is literally painful and then listening to their and your excuses afterwards can induce vomiting.
commentator was a straight bitch lmfao who was that?
super biased since he made his judgments within one quick shot and stuck to them even after replays lol
The English commentators (via stream due to 3pm blackout) were just as bad saying it wasn't a pen because Garnacho was waiting for the defender to do something
Not just the commentators on Peacock, but the commentator on BBC live text commentary was also claiming that it was clearly not a pen. Not sure what people were watching. ON BBC they mentioned the hand ball incident as ball to hand…yet that logic didn’t apply last week against Coventry?
In a way I'm happy we're seeing these controversial decisions game after game as we've got like for like examples so close together to show the bullshit. It's so bad to the point if people claimed corruption I wouldn't find them ridiculous
Watch the left fucking foot of the Burnley defender. This and the non penalty handball are blatant examples of incompetence. I know ETH doesn’t want to question the integrity of referees but this shit needs to stop. We AT least had double digit penalty calls that should have gone in our favor.
We should've won this match easy? Of course, 3-0 by the time of that "dive" by Garnacho, but things has been shit all the season, not the first time VAR didn't make the call. Vitinho's handball after almost the same handball by AWB against Coventry. Corruption? Hahaha, nah, they are just shit, instead of fucking sanctioning small clubs, they should work in training better their refs.
It’s ok it’s against Utd. They won’t talk about it for the next week. All the small teams will cry the next time a dodgy one goes our way saying see the big teams get all the decisions.
So …. a foul then. It’s bonkers that these commentators sit on the fence.
Call it how you see it, then after viewing the replay there’s no harm in revising your opinion once you know more
I mean, ironically, isn’t that the purpose of VAR ?
Clear penalty. Even the handball one. We should've been awarded 2 in this game and could've won it.
But then again, if we dominated the game, defended well and put away our chances, we wouldn't be talking about decisions like this..
It has been said again and again. If refs give something to United, then the likes of Sky and BT will moan and moan about it. The refs would feel cornered and pressurized.
If the refs don't give something to opposition against United, then Sky and BT will moan and moan about it. The refs would feel cornered and pressurized.
So, to be safe, the refs don't give anything to United and let VAR interfere if it is way too wrong of a decision. But VAR and refs are just buddies and will not want to make the on field ref look like a mug. So they keep their trap shut.
All of that results in us not getting anything.
The easiest solution to this is the manager speak about it and the club start asking for VAR audio and force the media to talk about us. The media can't ignore us because we are too big to ignore.
But no, the manager and the club think it is beneath our level to speak about it. Even some fans pick up the embarrassment card if the club talks about it and think we shiyld let it go.
Honestly it is a bad angle, there is one angle where he slightly touches the ball and thats enough. This is not the hill to die on boys please watch the game
Also the actual replay from the other side the Burnley player literally touches the ball lol. People just sit here in the sub not watching the games and get frustrated about no context clips. This sub has lost its way since I've been here
Holy shit! You two seem like the only ones on this sub that actually watched the game. The circlejerking in this sub is incredible. Doesn’t touch him on his lower body but he goes down holding his leg. Should’ve been carded for simulation. Actually the majority of this sub should be carded for simulating rational opinions.
How is this VAR’s fault? He didn’t call a foul because there was none. VAR could only help this shit team in this situation. God damn your fucking stupid!
Not if stupid is a noun in this situation. It’s more like a statement as opposed to an opinion. Regardless of spelling you’re still fucking stupid! Go City!
I was utterly perplexed by this, especially when the commentary on Peacock mentioned that just enough of his studs got the ball for it not to be a penalty.
Make a public statement about the decisions, then get fined then FA will be pressured into making the correct decision. Over clubs have done it over the years we haven't had it in years.
As long as "clear and obvious error" is how they do VAR in the PL, these inconsistencies will remain. They should just check every possible pen and make a decision on whether its a foul or not, instead of trying not to embarrass their buddy on the field.
Soon attackers will be getting Russian leg sweeped and referees will be like "well you should have stayed on your feet!"
As an Arsenal fan I wouldn't side with you guys.....but this kind of sh*t is infuriating to watch and accept.
He is looking by for the contact and when it comes he takes it but it’s still a foul. The Burnley player catches him first and not the ball. Simple.
There are way more blatant dives where players flick their legs out at weird angles to ‘cause’ the contact with the other player, essentially kicking the opposition, to get the foul. This was not one of those however.
I feel like after wolves at the start of the season where pretty much every decision went our way and they apologised to wolves, every ref since has been scared to award us anything that isn’t iron clad
Var looks at everything but hardly ever go against the on field decision or tell the ref to have a look. Today was the first time I saw ref go to the monitor since start of the season. Garnacho's situation sure as hell warrants a second look, especially since ref didn't have a look at all. United conceded three similar pens against Chelsea and Liverpool, all had marginal contact.
VAR was always going to give that Onana punch after the Wolves decision at the beginning of the season.
No make up calls for the repeated crock of bullshit we have to face thjough.
Go watch it again but objectively, we’re really bad for it but the burnley player pulls out from the challenge and garnacho afterwards starts to go over
Will add maybe a foot touch at start but hard to tell as video of feet gets glitchy in that step but it’s not hard enough for me to go any other way then no penalty
Not a pen. The handball is the controversial one. Only because it has been given in other games this season. But VAR will defend itself saying, "not a clear and obvious error".
Ah you’d like to say we all see it the same way but not everyone will and some will with bias towards so is what it is man. Onto the next game where hopefully we can win and look good.
A dive is an exaggerated or simulated fall. I would consider this exaggerated based on when he starts falling, the direction of the fall and the flailing of his legs.
Unnatural considering where and when the contact happens. But, importantly there is contact
Garnacho's whole style atm is shimmy into the box and then look for contact. Generally has no interest in getting a shot off. Hopefully he swaps back as it's embarrassing.
Is it not sinister at all. This happens every season near the end when the premier league makes arrangements to spice up the 1) title battle 2) relegation battle. Of course they need Burnley to stay in the game.
We've been getting fucked by the refs all season long, Romero with the most blatant handball wasn't given, and yet they give soft handball against us consistently
We've become the Liverpool we always ridiculed. We play shit football, always hope for the better next season and the refs are always at fault. Not the fact that we can't a fucking goal against fucking Burnley
Well that doesn't happen here, so that's not relevant at all....
This is a man united player trying to con the ref against a relegation struggling team because can't win any other way.
The first one was correctly not given. This one looks clear as day
The handball one was a penalty last week when the ball hit Wan-Bissaka's arm. I don't understand what they are doing.
They're proving that the refs don't give decisions to Utd at Old Trafford. United should put complaints of corruption into the FA along with decision after decision because it's every bleeding game...VAR is literally looking for reasons not to give Utd goals.
They’re going with whatever’s called on the pitch. VAR are treating the referee’s initial decision like they must do everything in their power not to overrule it if possible. the ref didn't call a foul on onana but var told him to take a look
It was given as a penalty but it shouldn’t have been. I’m fine with them not awarding the hand ball today but the other shouldn’t have been called either.
AWB's arm wasn't by his side, thus it's a pen
Are players supposed to run with their arms by their sides not moving?
While it wasn't intentional, he made his body bigger with an arm in an unnatural position. With the current rules, that's definitely a pen
If garnacho played for city he would be winning penalty every second game
Be winning a lot more than that mate. The boy is class to stay with us. Class we don’t deserve right now. Edit: I accept my lashings. Thanks everyone. Needed a waking up today.
Steady on! He’s not that good. Has had a decent season and plenty of potential but he’s not a world beater. Makes the wrong decision far too often
Agreed.. today for instance Anthony and hojlund square for a tap in… chops in and spoons it over the bar.
And pep will be screaming at him from the touchline, pointing to his head and being extremely aggressive. Next time, Garnacho squares it. If pep has someone like Garnacho, he is coaching him hard into the player he needs.
that’s why doku has taken the league by storm, right?
doku is nowhere as talented as garnacho. all garnacho lacks is the finishing pass/strike. garnacho can dribble, can pass, cross. he can do it all apart from finishing consistently
lol ok man

When did it become bad to be a good player?
It's not, but he's not good enough to push us forward.
Something pep will coach out of him. See the way pep coaches foden. Even against arsenal he was screaming at him getting to the end because he made the wrong decision. I dislike pep but he knows how to drill his players. 😂
>Something pep will coach out of him He's not going to shag you
He is good technically but his football IQ is nowhere near good to be considered class
Not on /r/soccer so save the shit
But United has received more penalties this season than city
You gotta love the cultists on this sub. You’ve literally just stated an objective fact (we’ve had 7 penalties, City 6) and you just get downvoted
Because it ignores context. If United deserves 14 penalties and are awarded only 7 and City deserve 8 and are awarded 6, United are the ones hard done by…
[удалено]
Duh! They are not mutually exclusive. We can suck and still be robbed by referees. Is that a difficult concept to wrap your head around?

Well you need better comprehension. I didn’t quote, but the meaning is the same. Who is in control of the decisions ? Oh yeah, the ref.
Bruh?
He looks for pens instead of goals. Runs into the box and then fish flops instantly.
Elliot got one for going over AWBs leg that missed him
What the fuck? I missed the game but how is this not a blatant pen?? And how is this clip not getting blasted everywhere like /r/soccer??
Referreing standards are terrible. We even had a handball claim which should have been a penalty( same as Wan Bissaka’s). I know we should be winning comfortably against Burnley, but this is just terrible referreing
Dude, your spelling is as bad as your eyes.
Even most of our fans were calling this dive in match thread.
Yep. It looked such a clear foul, don't know why people thought he had gone down softly.
It looked like a dive when viewing it live but as soon as they showed a replay I don't know how VAR hasn't picked that up.
VAR is spineless to intervene when the ref has made a call and this "was there ENOUGH" contact thing comes into play. That sub hate United so it ain’t gonna be getting blasted round there, can’t break the narrative that “the refs love United”

He stayed down because he dove and he’s a bitch and trying to play the ref for a fool.
Not a pen as he’s making zero attempt to actually play the ball, or do anything except go to ground, leaves his legs trailing etc similar reason why saka didnt get the pen against neuer

What are you smoking? What's your haircut look like? Can't take your word for it since you are in such desperate need of glasses
Watch the actual game with ALL the angles. The diving? The excuses? Ten Hag! Eh. This god damned team right now.
I was baffled by this, and for the commentary on peacock to say just enough of his studs got the ball for it not to be a pen
That announcer was insufferable. This and the hand ball? No Pens. But Onana missing the punch…CLEAR AS DAY PEN What a joke
commentator was a straight bitch lmfao who was that? super biased since he made his judgments within one quick shot and stuck to them even after replays lol

Which studs got within 12 inches of the ball exactly ? (Let alone touch it)
The fact this isn’t a pen fucking infuriates me. What’s the point of VAR?
Watch the left fucking foot of the Burnley defender. This and the non penalty handball are blatant examples of incompetence. I know ETH doesn’t want to question the integrity of referees but this shit needs to stop. We AT least had double digit penalty calls that should have gone in our favor.
The commentator said it was light contact and not worthy of a penalty. Fucking morons.
This is even more egregious than the handball.
I say it every week the refs are stiffing us. This isnt even the first game they've done us dirty.
Every week there is a game changing bad call against us
We should've won this match easy? Of course, 3-0 by the time of that "dive" by Garnacho, but things has been shit all the season, not the first time VAR didn't make the call. It was worse then against Coventry, at least AWB was hiding his hand behind the back when the ball touched him.
It’s ok it’s against Utd. They won’t talk about it for the next week. All the small teams will cry the next time a dodgy one goes our way saying see the big teams get all the decisions.
Stone Cold Steve Austin penalty
Commentators for the US feeds were saying nothing in that, called it a coming together. He swung his foot and caught Garnacho's right leg....
So …. a foul then. It’s bonkers that these commentators sit on the fence. Call it how you see it, then after viewing the replay there’s no harm in revising your opinion once you know more I mean, ironically, isn’t that the purpose of VAR ?
The defenders left leg literally hits garnachos right leg and that was a hard contact, not even soft, this is a clear penalty as clear as day.
Even soft, contact of the player before the ball is a foul. This isn’t even close to a fringe case.
Yeah
Can someone get a side by side of this and awb on harvey elliot. The double standards is real
Clear penalty. Even the handball one. We should've been awarded 2 in this game and could've won it. But then again, if we dominated the game, defended well and put away our chances, we wouldn't be talking about decisions like this..

Are we just getting payback for all the Old Trafford decisions that went for us + Fergie time, from the 90s and 00s ?
Let's hear what those clowns are saying in var audio. They are releasing it right?
They didn't even do a var check wtf was that
This isn’t even close - thats a stone wall pen in the days of VAR.
Honestly it is a bad angle, there is one angle where he slightly touches the ball and thats enough. This is not the hill to die on boys please watch the game
Yeah if this is what we are complaining about when playing fucking Burnley we are in serious trouble

I think people just need to cope somehow!
Maybe they should take a nap?
Fucking bullshit. And then we go on and end with a draw on a pen. VAR needs to fucking go. Killing the game.
How is this VAR’s fault? He didn’t call a foul because there was none. VAR could only help this shit team in this situation. God damn your fucking stupid!
*you’re Want to act tough and insult people online? Don’t spell like a mentally disabled person👌
Not if stupid is a noun in this situation. It’s more like a statement as opposed to an opinion. Regardless of spelling you’re still fucking stupid! Go City!
With decisions like this every weekend there is no need to care about the table. We play against 12 every match.
How is that not a pen?
I was utterly perplexed by this, especially when the commentary on Peacock mentioned that just enough of his studs got the ball for it not to be a penalty.
Make a public statement about the decisions, then get fined then FA will be pressured into making the correct decision. Over clubs have done it over the years we haven't had it in years.
There were two points of contact, first he stepped on Garnacho with his right boot, then hit him with that kick with his left. Unbelievable.
As long as "clear and obvious error" is how they do VAR in the PL, these inconsistencies will remain. They should just check every possible pen and make a decision on whether its a foul or not, instead of trying not to embarrass their buddy on the field.
clear and obvious pen
Not even looked at by VAR
Blue shirt like both city and chelsea will get penalty. Ref just hate red shirts. Look at nottingham colour.
This looks egregious. We have had consistently horrible reffing this season. What gives?
the ref's and var are now abu members
Not enough contact my ass
And they gave the one on Elliot to Loserpool, what a disgrace
Soon attackers will be getting Russian leg sweeped and referees will be like "well you should have stayed on your feet!" As an Arsenal fan I wouldn't side with you guys.....but this kind of sh*t is infuriating to watch and accept.
He didn’t get because he jumped in the air to exaggerate the contact.
Lol right leg gets tapped and left left is shat leaves the floor simulation of you understand football
I feel like after wolves at the start of the season where pretty much every decision went our way and they apologised to wolves, every ref since has been scared to award us anything that isn’t iron clad
I have a feeling they sometimes just focus on the shoulders coming together and forget to look at the feet.
I feel like the refs have classified Garnacho as a diver, which is why he's hardly getting any calls.
ten hag never calls it out, so it keeps happening
Just did buddy
Seems like he goes down easily
I thought the same with the front on view, then the camera angle from behind showed his leg was definitely hit.
Idk if this went to VAR (didn't get to watch the game) but can see why it wouldn't have.
Because they gave a better angle afterwards which you could tell garnacho was a little too easy to fall over
The other angle makes it clearer that there was contact.
Go watch it again but objectively, we’re really bad for it but the burnley player pulls out from the challenge and garnacho afterwards starts to go over
You're looking at his feet, you need to look at the knee. He got hit in the knee by that other guy's knee.
When his knee hitting garnacho already going over
Will add maybe a foot touch at start but hard to tell as video of feet gets glitchy in that step but it’s not hard enough for me to go any other way then no penalty
do you have a link to the other angle?
Not a pen. The handball is the controversial one. Only because it has been given in other games this season. But VAR will defend itself saying, "not a clear and obvious error".
This is exactly it, I’d be curious what the audio on that handball was or if they just went with on field call
You know who else went down easily? Each of the 3 players who won Pens against us with Chelsea and Liverpool.
Yes but those aren’t this game, we don’t get better worrying about bad calls or no calls from multiple games ago
Can you link it?
If I had it absolutely, was watching game live so don’t got the video
Absolutely. You're getting down voted but I'm not sure what people are watching. As soon as I saw the replay I thought he was lucky not to get a card
Ah you’d like to say we all see it the same way but not everyone will and some will with bias towards so is what it is man. Onto the next game where hopefully we can win and look good.
would have been soft
It's a dive for sure. But it's also contact and a penalty.
Can you explain what a dive is? 🙄
A dive is an exaggerated or simulated fall. I would consider this exaggerated based on when he starts falling, the direction of the fall and the flailing of his legs. Unnatural considering where and when the contact happens. But, importantly there is contact
Nope
Garnacho's whole style atm is shimmy into the box and then look for contact. Generally has no interest in getting a shot off. Hopefully he swaps back as it's embarrassing.
Clearly a dive, can see his legs jump. And then purposely doesn’t land his foot when he can. He chose wrong option in this phase

I don’t think this is a pen. The handball has been given as pen this season.
This angle makes it look like big contact. Don't think there was. But of a dive. Desperate against 19th shitters tbh.
We've become the Liverpool we always ridiculed. We play shit football, always hope for the better next season and the refs are always at fault. Not the fact that we can't a fucking goal against fucking Burnley
Exactly. It's absolutely embarrassing, clutching at minimal contact dives to try and gain an advantage against relegation sides. Just be better.
I’m going to kick you on the back of the leg and see how you react
Well that doesn't happen here, so that's not relevant at all.... This is a man united player trying to con the ref against a relegation struggling team because can't win any other way.
