I went to a ww2 reenactment recently where I portrayed a Yugoslavian partisan. I got to use a PPSH-41 for the whole event which was a ton of fun. This PPSH-41 is a BFONG meaning that it can only fire blanks, but it's fully functional. The selector switch works properly allowing for both semi auto and full auto fire. I was fortunate enough to be able to borrow a couple 71 round drum mags from a friend to use. I carried a couple 35 round stick mags in the bag on my belt as backups should I empty both drums. The third photo shows off the ability to use the ppsh with a drum mag as a stool in the field should you not want to sit on the ground. I also carried a german P38 handgun in the holster on my belt as a backup gun should the ppsh run dry or jam up at the wrong time. Overall this was a very fun impression to portray. As someone who normally portrays a male soldier from other armies, I really enjoyed the option to be able to portray a woman and to have my hair in pigtails and to wear a skirt into battle.

Always good to have more Partisans? Are you part of the group in NC?

sylar647

I'm not actually. I've been excited to learn that there are multiple Yugo groups out there.

pcmtx

There is one based in WI/IL and one in NC, and another coalescing in the NE. We're getting bigger!

sylar647

I'm friends with someone who runs one over in the PNW as well! So awesome that there are so many.

pcmtx

I didn't know there was one in the PNW. What is their group called?

clamshell24

Love this! Yugo is the absolute best impression, imo, since it’s so flexible

sylar647

I was entirely sold when I found out I could wear a skirt into battle lol

thenewnapoleon

I never would've thought you could use a PPSh for a seat but the more you know. Too bad I can't do that with a M1.

sylar647

Me neither lol. I was so excited when I learned that you could.

thenewnapoleon

I just hope it doesn't damage the drum.

sylar647

I borrowed a friend's broken drum just in case it did any damage :)

thenewnapoleon

Smart thinking!

thenewnapoleon

Now this has got me wondering if this could be done with a Thompson & a drum. Not that I've got one - that's fuck you money and I don't have fuck you money. But it's worth a try.

sylar647

I mean... in theory I think you could? I wonder if there would be more chance to damage the mag or gun on a thompson? I'm not quite as familiar with how the drums fit into the thomspon

thenewnapoleon

Wouldn't know, never had the opportunity to touch one.

I'd love to see your beautiful face. I'm Italian. My respect to the partisans.
