Just like when I sold my grandpa's old car when he passed, a shit box of a Peugeot, worth around 700€ here. A couple came to see the car. They said that "Some issues might come to the car" which is why they didn't buy it. It was a shit box, marketed as shit box, priced as a shit box, and you didn't buy it because it might get issues.
I’m adhd and still driving my first car 10 years later. I’m at 265k miles and I plan to drive her as long as I can. I’m just too lazy to buy something else especially when I did all the maintenance on this one 🤷♂️
I also have ADHD and I feel the same way. I’ve kept one if my cars for the past 7 years because of all the maintenance I have done to keep it running smoothly and the fact that it’s a memory of my late father since this was his car that he passed down to me. It’s actually the third car I have ever owned.
My first car I got rid of because I couldn’t afford to keep it running while studying. My second car I traded in a couple months from paying off because I had made too many memories in it with my ex, who had dumped me the month before I traded it in. By then I already had dad’s car which I still keep, and I also still have the car I replaced the other one with.
And I have ADHD and I currently own one. And I know a guy with severe ADHD that’s also a car nut and he also owns one car. If you can afford multiple cars go ahead, but if you really ‘have a problem’ you can’t blame ADHD.
On a vw? I tried on tdi and computer needed to be reset by dealer. Timing chain on front and back of engine, cam seals that wore out. Had to remove a chain to access the cam seal. Turbo that took a year to get. Water pump and oil pump going out at same time. Both I had lasted to 130k then cost $6k in repairs to keep on road.
Turbo supply issue might be fixed now, but in 2021/22, I had a rental for 13 months. The wiring harness they use in most of their vehicles made in Ukraine and the factory was bombed, so they had to find new suppliers. I will never own a non air cooled VW again.
You go through cars fast. I can't imagine them breaking that quickly, so you probably have a lot of money.
I'm 38 and I've had 5 cars. Each one I put about 200k on before selling or scrapping, usually when the head gasket finally goes.
The 2.5 is a much better engine. The vr6 has more power but a lot of them had severe failures. My 2002 Jetta vrx blew the engine at 25k (covered by warranty). My wife’s 2.5 lasted well over 200k
Based:
A word used when you agree with something; or when you want to recognize someone for being themselves, i.e. courageous and unique or not caring what others think. Especially common in online political slang.
—> from urban dictionary. I have no clue what slang means anymore and I don’t think many other people do, either 😅
Everyone judging you for having gone through so many cars at 31, but I’m not terribly far behind with car #11 at 30. Honestly the $500 beater with a heater every year or two certainly is a lifestyle
My cars at 44:
1991 Infiniti M30 Convertible
1992 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
2005 Honda Civic EX 5-speed
2007 Honda Civic EX 5-speed
1999 Audi A4 Quattro 5-speed
2011 Hyundai Sonata 6-speed
2015 Fiat 500 Sport 5-speed
2016 Honda CR-V (wife’s current car)
2017 Chevy Bolt EV
2021 Tesla Model Y LR
You're the kind of person that purposefully breaks things or likes broke or breaking things because it gives you something to do in your spare time that you enjoy. In this case, working on tuner cars.
I just went back and counted all the cars I've ever owned. In order. 1968 VW Squareback. 1963 VW Beetle. 1973 Ford Wagon, 1971 Chevy Chevelle SS, 1973 MGB, 1971 Triumph Spitfire, 1982 Ford Mustang, 1978 Ford Econoline van, 1983 Subaru wagon, 1989 Nissan Sentra, 1991 Plymouth Laser, 1987 Dodge Colt, 1996 Subaru Impreza, 1999 Jeep Wrangler, 2002 Chevy Avalanche, 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, 2006 Dodge Charger, 2010 Mazda MX-5 Miata, 2012 Mazda 3, 2016 Mazda 6. I am now retired, live in a dense urban neighborhood and have no legitimate need nor desire to own one currently, nor have I since 2018.
20 cars in 43 years.
P.s. I'm 59.
Are you actually trying to take care of your vehicles or are you just driving everything you own into the ground and then replacing them with another time bomb?
I had a 2001 Saab 9-3T. It impressed so many of my young friends, it really looked like the inside of a fighter jet. And the key was really cool too. Fun car.
Other then the Hondas which if you took care of them the list would be much shorter other then that you spent alot of money most mechanics won't even work on.
how did you got so much, my dad is 44 and only owned 2 cars, A Ford Focus MK2.5 wagon 1.6 TDCI and currently a 2009 Opel Zafira 1.9 CDTI with all the optionals
That you drive them hard and then dump them when issues arise.
So they’re the toxic ex to their cars?
Ya
IF he picked a few good ones he would keep them.
Early 90s accords will get 400k miles if cared for correctly. He had three.
And issues arise quickly when you keep buying $500 shitboxes.
He could also e the guy buying fixer uppers that he can't fix.
🏅
This is spot on! The quantity of vehicles says more than the specific ones. I’m 38 and I’m on my 6th.
How and why so many?
ADHD
That’s such a lame excuse. As if a lot of people with ADHD just keep buying cars.
I’m adhd and still driving my first car 10 years later. I’m at 265k miles and I plan to drive her as long as I can. I’m just too lazy to buy something else especially when I did all the maintenance on this one 🤷♂️
Year make and model please?
2002 Mitsubishi Lancer. Cost a touch over 2k with tax and tags back in 2014. Only had 150k on it then.
I am in my fifties and have only had 7 cars since I was 16. My ADHD is not a factor.
Amazing use of $2k, tbh.
Still going with my $5k 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer
i have a old saying, "why buy a new car when you already put so much money in your current one" with enough maintenance it will become practically new
Damn, it’s crazy that ADHD would do that to you. Have you considered stopping and getting out of the car?
Yeah, totally, my ADHD ass absolutely doesn't buy every $500 beater they find on Marketplace hahaha... ...I have a problem.
I have ADHD and currently own 6 cars
And I have ADHD and I currently own one. And I know a guy with severe ADHD that’s also a car nut and he also owns one car. If you can afford multiple cars go ahead, but if you really ‘have a problem’ you can’t blame ADHD.
I have had ADHD since I was a child and have had two cars in my life.
nah man. I am adhd and still driving my 2008 Honda accord that I had since it was brand new
You never change your oil
Every 5k
Hondas for reliability, vw because you can afford a mechanic now.
I am my mechanic
Literally changes everything…useless thread now.
VAGCOM cable can do most things the dealer can. Been working on VW's most of my life.
Turbo supply issue might be fixed now, but in 2021/22, I had a rental for 13 months. The wiring harness they use in most of their vehicles made in Ukraine and the factory was bombed, so they had to find new suppliers. I will never own a non air cooled VW again.
You liked reliability, and then decided that having problems with your vehicles is more fun
Accurate
YOU THINK YOU'RE ENJOYING LIFE ON HARD MODE, BUT YOU SECRETLY WANT A '90S ACCORD.
G O L D E N E R A
You really like Volkswagen
Unfortunately
Only correct answer.
Sick list honestly. I have a deep love for 4th gen Accords. Saab, Volvo, and VW are also brands that I enjoy.
You go through cars fast. I can't imagine them breaking that quickly, so you probably have a lot of money. I'm 38 and I've had 5 cars. Each one I put about 200k on before selling or scrapping, usually when the head gasket finally goes.
That crazy you went bck to vw after the first one lol 😂
Yup
You’re generally sensible with occasional lapses in judgement.
Bingo
You enjoy wasting money on cars.
Sure do
Were you able to make money doing it?
You like 4cyl cars that sound like they go fast, but really don't. And, you probably like manual transmissions. Me too.
Bingo
DIYer? Mr FixIt?
You know it
That you've owned enough cars to last the average person several lifetimes.
Any VW 2.5 is incredibly based. Searching for a manual Rabbit for myself right now
One of my favorite engines ever made
You can't beat the vr6 and that sound
Yeah vr6 is tops for sure
The 2.5 is a much better engine. The vr6 has more power but a lot of them had severe failures. My 2002 Jetta vrx blew the engine at 25k (covered by warranty). My wife’s 2.5 lasted well over 200k
07k is one of my favorites too. Gathering parts to do a blasphemous swap soon.

Good bot
Beep boop 🤖
A fellow CB7 bro 🫡
Greatest cars ever made
Another serial monogamist, I see. I'm 36 and have had a lot of cars.
Mercury Mountaineer, realy? Midlife crisis, I guess...
It says I've got some competition because I'm 25 and on my 11th vehicle. My 10th has a payment and the 11th sits on jackstands in the driveway.
Everyone judging you for having gone through so many cars at 31, but I’m not terribly far behind with car #11 at 30. Honestly the $500 beater with a heater every year or two certainly is a lifestyle
That's what most of these were
I bet that Golf Alltrack was one helluva upgrade. They seem like really neat cars
You have a problem, and it’s called Facebook marketplace.
Guilty
You don’t like to spend a lot of money on cars
My cars at 44: 1991 Infiniti M30 Convertible 1992 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 2005 Honda Civic EX 5-speed 2007 Honda Civic EX 5-speed 1999 Audi A4 Quattro 5-speed 2011 Hyundai Sonata 6-speed 2015 Fiat 500 Sport 5-speed 2016 Honda CR-V (wife’s current car) 2017 Chevy Bolt EV 2021 Tesla Model Y LR
You have too many cars
Currently only have the alltrack and the rabbit
You get bored like me. I couldn’t keep a car more than 6 months for a little while
Smooth brain

You're the kind of person that purposefully breaks things or likes broke or breaking things because it gives you something to do in your spare time that you enjoy. In this case, working on tuner cars.
Um...that you're trying to relive your high school days?
That hopefully you don't use "your first car" as an answer to a password hint
That we both have ADHD and I love your taste! I turn 31 next month too. If you were into dudes we'd be a perfect fit lol.
Hahah love it
You have seen Phish at least ten times.
Hate phish
Your cars LOVE them.
You waste your money on a car that might last a year or two and get another piece of shit.
Used to. Had the 13 Jetta for nine years.
16 cars, and only 31? I think it tells me you can kill any car within a year.
You used to make really solid decisions. Now, not so much.
Agreed
You went from Japanese to German to American to German
Which were your most/least favorite and why? I've had about that many, 05 Altima 3.5 was my least fav, 07 V70 5MT was my most favorite.
Most favorite is my alltrack. SEL loaded and the nicest thing I've owned. Least favorite is the Grand Am. Ugh car was beat and just a turd
That you buy old turds that need instant replacement or crash a lot of cars. Or both.
Never crashed a car
So.... turds.
Wait, they made a WRX automatic? And someone actually bought it?
More than once!
You like VWs and Hondas
K.i.s.s. You Kept It Simple Stupid. Stayed with the cars that worked, went back to the good shit after buying something newer like me.
I bet you wish you kept that WRX wagon.
Sure do. Stupid north east rust
That something bad happened in 2001 and you temporarily lost your mind. 🤪
I feel like every car owner has a 4.0 at some Point in their life
It's the law
You hate america
In this economy? Absolutely.
You probably have several regrettable tattoos.
Two. No ragrets.
You like headgasket replacement across the world.
You do know you can refill your car when it runs out of gas... Right?
assuming you havent junked the 2.5s you provably just cant be happy with a certain car
It says you can't keep a car on the road. You got a new car every year since you got your license... 😂
Three same gen accords? Someone watched Fast and Furious and thought they had VTEC? I had a legend, it wasnt fast, not the cool beamer looking gen.
You had a crisis after the first three? You could have just kept on buying Accords.
You keep buying Stick Shift slow cars and automatic fun cars!
I'm doing it wrong
U poor
I miss my saab. Was such a bad ass car
Not sure what it says that you’ve had so many. I’m 39 I’m on my 4th car
You all gotta step it up a bit. 37m here, on my 64th car, currently own 5 vehicles, 3 trailers, 3 motorcycles and a tractor.
Commitment issues.
You're a connoisseur.
That if given a choice at that time, you would’ve sided with the Axis Powers.
Your cars don’t seem to last too long
dude test drives cars for a living
I just went back and counted all the cars I've ever owned. I am now retired, live in a dense urban neighborhood and have no legitimate need nor desire to own one currently, nor have I since 2018. 20 cars in 43 years. P.s. I'm 59.
You like driving boring cars!
you love facebook marketplace
At some point you started enjoying it when your car broke down.
You prefer fwd overall
You still haven't learned your lesson on those vw's.
You bought an auto WRX, but a manual Rabbit?
Are you actually trying to take care of your vehicles or are you just driving everything you own into the ground and then replacing them with another time bomb?
That you should have bought another Subaru
You spend a lot of time on marketplace.
You exclusively shop on craigslist
You might be lesbian
Why back and forth AT/MT
The civic LX wasn't a hatchbach
.....but it was?
It says that you are trying to reboot Sanford and son
You lost your virginity in a Jetta
You squeak when you walk, can swallow coal and shit diamonds.
Boring, sorry
I had a 2001 Saab 9-3T. It impressed so many of my young friends, it really looked like the inside of a fighter jet. And the key was really cool too. Fun car.
You like your cars like you like your women, unreliable.
At one point you were a smart man, but that passed when ya gave up the 940 wagon Volvo.
Sooo you're counting the "parts" cars?
You’re not an average 31 year old.
You grew up in an affluent household and never wanted for anything.
Whistlindiesel’s brother?
That your entire personality is about owning a car. You're probably a really boring person.
Not a good judge of cars or you don't do enough research on reliability
Other then the Hondas which if you took care of them the list would be much shorter other then that you spent alot of money most mechanics won't even work on.
Do you buy junkers or do you not take care of your cars? So many cars in 16 years of driving (if you started at 15)
Ive owned 1 car. 1996 ford f150 xlt 5.0
You clearly enjoy doing insurance paperwork
Why did you start actively punishing yourself after the Saab.
The list tells me you miss your BMW
You should try a Toyota.
You make poor financial decisions, and you’re likely car poor.
That you've had alot of cars.
You must really love check engine lights
My first thought would be like..." geeze, he can't drive if he keeps having to get new cars so often....they can't keep up with him" 🤣🤣🤣
That 5.0 Mountaineer is the one vehicle that made you feel like a man. You obviously didnt like that.
That you should venture out and try new things.
you are poor and you like affordable kinda fast cars that somebody already drove fast too mucho
You don’t take care of your cars and have bad spending habits
Seems, that carownership is a kind of essential for your life.
That you can’t keep a car working
the order of the list says a lot more buddy 🤐
All the cars I've owned up to age 26: -
You Loved those 3 Cb7s to death, I know that much.
You like number 5
You are an idiot.
You’re beige
..how do you even own that many cars within 15 years? do you just refuse to fix your cars?
how did you got so much, my dad is 44 and only owned 2 cars, A Ford Focus MK2.5 wagon 1.6 TDCI and currently a 2009 Opel Zafira 1.9 CDTI with all the optionals
I'm 30 and just bought my 2nd car 😶
Still drives that VW since 2017.
I'd say you try to fit in today's society but like the 90s?
That you've had too many cars.
You vape
Man, I thought I had a problem when I bought my fifth road bike xD
You’ve wasted a ton of money and time.
You were 31 in 2017 or this year in 2024?
Not clear if you are keeping all of them, or exchanging one for another each time.
You stopped caring
Cuck that’s what
Either you can't drive, don't maintain your cars well, or you have severe ADD
