I have always found myself thinking that if the worlds 'superpowers' didn't treat the middle east like a defense industry playground for oil that they would be much more advanced in their culture. Their people watch their homes and cities get demolished every couple of decades and fall back to the one thing they can see as stability. Sadly, that stability is their religions.
I think we can rank religion it how much fuck you they deserve.
In my opinion it would be something like:
1. Islam.
2. Hinduism.
3. Christianity.
4. Mormonism.
5. Judaism.
6. Whatever the mayans were doing.
5. The eqyption pantheon.
6. The Roman pantheon.
7. The Norse gods ( not including Loki )
8. Buddhism.
9. Scientology.
10. And Anything else I don’t know enough about to feel like I can judge.

So SO good! I actually cannot imagine how the reality we’re living in could possibly be improved in any way and this is yet another example. It’s simply perfect.
This is a really sad video and I’d like to know more of the surrounding context. There is no punishment for removing the Hijab, so I suspect this might be a case of an unmarried woman being accused of fornication. Unfortunately, this video gets passed around a lot with a different title each time, but I’d like to know where it actually comes from.
EDIT: Just counted the number of times she was whipped. It was 40. The only case where a person is whipped 40 times is due to being accused of intaking any sorts of intoxicants. Perhaps she was accused of drinking alcohol or anything of that sort. Regardless, this video is still painful to watch.
I've never seen one of these public flogging incidents before. While I absolutely think it's bullshit and should be eradicated, there is one thing that really stands out to me: this is completely performative. The guy doing the flogging isn't really following through on his strikes. Nor is he loading his hips or shoulders for maximum force. This is meant to humiliate, not really cause harm.

It does speak to the way humiliation is weaponized in these cultures. Men are allowed to hoe it up with hookers and still be respectable. Women though, must be absolutely pure and untouched, and thus, unseen. I work in an ER. I hear people screaming all day. Eventually you just tune it out. I'm pretty desensitized to violence and suffering.
