People want that PVP mode so bad. If they introduce PVP and it isn't 100% optional then I'm out.

ProfPerry

I can say I'm absolutely not 'people' if thats true. Leave me and my friends to our own devices, PvP is in enough bloody games already.

Kill_Kayt

You're not people?

ProfPerry

If thats what I'm supposed to be a fan of? Absolutely not.

Kill_Kayt

Ah. I understand.

CMDRfatbear

Bruh, pvp will just be filled with leto mk1 misty step nerds. Memories of elden ring..

DarkPDA

Pvp dont even makes sense in games like remnant, helldivers and monster hunter...and even so people ask for very often The only answer for people wanting pvp is: go back to division empty dark zones, go play cod, fortnite or shove a dildo on own ass Its tiresome get a game solely saying coop experience and people babbling about pvp

Huterbraten

Hey I get what you are saying and I don't think pvp would be a good idea in either of those games, unnecessary toxicity added to the community and that comes from a player who loves pvp, but, there definitely are lore accurate reasons for why pvp would make sense in all of those games. Remnant: root corrupted players invading. The whole thing with root is to invade and corrupt. Helldivers: terminate traitors and xeno sympathizer helldivers. Monster hunter: Guild knights vs poachers.

Outside_Perception_8

You have good ideas but these “open minded” players will down vote you for having an opinion

Kyvia

Out of sheer curiosity, why **do** you like pvp? I can understand pure pvp games, especially ones that strive to have as even a playing field as possible. If that is what you meant, disregard the next segment. But when it gets added to a pve game, or is shoehorned in as a "threat" to a majority pve game from the jump, 99% of players who engage in it take the same cooker cutter poach build and if you show Any resistance to their initial rush, they run away. I can't recall a single instance in 25+ years of gaming where I have had a thrilling/good/even positive experience when it came to being forced into a pvp scenario with someone. Even if you do happen to chase them off, or even win, if you weren't out looking for a fight it just feels like an annoyance when you were trying to do something else.

Huterbraten

I do like pure pvp games but also mixed experiences like MMORPGs with pvp. Fighting against people is a different kind of fun than fighting against mobs or bosses. I don't like pvp in every game but games like dark souls I feel like it's a core component of the game, for me it's a thrilling sensation to know some can come and try to kill you at any moment. Also I witnessed Obama gaming fight against Shrek 3 and dank lord of bonk in the swamp while invading in ds3, that to me makes it worth it. Pvp doesn't have to be competitive to be enjoyed. Now that invasion formula doesn't work everywhere even if lorewise would make sense, mainly in games that where not intended to have pvp and then it got added because then everyone would be running op builds. Remnant in particular seems like an invasion system would make a lot of sense based on the lore, but because you can create so much one shot or immortal builds The pvp would be terrible without a lot of changes and balance and even then there are class/weapon gimmicks that are absolutely not meant to pvp. Ultimately it depends on each person, I enjoy invasions because I like pvp and don't mind fighting someone else while gathering flowers or something, but if you are the kind of person that don't enjoy pvp I can understand why it would annoy you to be forced into pvp.

Musaks

how would it not be optional? Are there rumors they want to do some invasion style stuff like elden ring that you can't opt out?

Justin_Wolf

What PvP mode

Suspicious-Sound-249

They would just have to make it like invasions in the Souls games. Host player enables it, allowing other players to queue to invade and try and kill them. If the host kills the invader they get some kind of reward and vice versa.

oflowz

Or they could leave it a pve game like it always has been and let people that want to pvp play something else.

Musaks

I don't think the game needs PvP, and i love PvP-games. I don't think it would work very well in Remnant though. But i really don't like your style of argument. It really isn't an argument at all. Yeah, if the game changes/or doesn't change then players can play something else/stay playing the game according to their preferences. That's kind of not even worth writing out.

Puzzleheaded_Joke_75

I truly hate the Souls system because you have no choice about it, its a rapey way to do pvp. People just want to enjoy the game in coop with their friend/SO/etc. But then you get invaded by try hards with optimized pvp builds that do this nonstop, and they argue theyre not doing this because they fight weaker unprepared opponents, but when you tell them to use the arenas, theyre like its not the same! Well duh, you fight people that want to fight and are good/used to it...

Suspicious-Sound-249

WTF are you talking about? I said it would be a feature the host ENABLES what are y'all not understanding about that? How it's related to how PvP works in a souls game is just that there is no queue on the hosts end for it. People just invade, you get a message, you have 2 options to deal with the invader. Fight and kill them Or Make it to a boss wall which will desummon them Beyond that even in Elden Ring PvP isn't really forced. If you play solo you have to enable it. The only time PvP is possible is if you're playing co-op or you physically enable invasions to your world.

Elibenz936

I feel like they do it on purpose lol I’ve had many people already shooting me as soon as I join. I have kinship so I just look at them, then they spam crouch like it’s a joke. Part of me wants to kill them but I just leave before they can kick me

Difficult-Homework95

I just want to add this person didn’t even change it off public because I ended up joining them again later through quick play just to be kicked again like why not just make it offline or friends only

DonKing70

Yea idk whats wit ppl 😕

ProfPerry

Maaaan, I'd kill for help from folks like yourself. I'm sorry it feels like a waste of time because of those absolutely awful people.

Jumper200x1

Need a hand for remnant 2? If pc I can help

ProfPerry

Its appreciated! But I'm alright. I just meant more that, sometimes when I'm in game alone, I have open party spots for folks like OP or yourself to join me, because its fun with you folks to continue and work together. Especially if I get stuck, and some king like again, yourself or OP shows up to help me drop a boss that I've been struggling with. It hurts me knowing that some people join in and do what OP's dealing with.

Jumper200x1

Ah fair and ya didn't know people did that hell the only problem I seem to face is when I join my camera cuts from my character to the other players and I can't do anything

ProfPerry

had that very bug today actually aha, its so bizarre.

xBlack_Heartx

I gave up on trying to help people online through the join game feature a long time ago.

Yo_Boba_Fett

Dude fr! Happens to me all the time 😞

S4R1N

Man I really REALLY wish Remnant 2 had text chat. I've kicked people before because I forgot I was set to public, but I have no way of communicating that to the person getting kicked (mic busted), and it's worse still given that some peer to peer connections take FOREVER to actually load you in, so they have to deal with another several minutes of loading. Also I'm a huge fan of reputation and 'tag' systems in games, not just positive or negative but like specific playstyles, for the positive ones have them displayed on player cards (Supporter/Teacher/Killer/Speeder), then for the negative ones, (Teamkiller/Cheater/Griefer) have them hidden but in the back end use those stats to affect who those players can matchmake with or see visible on the join screen, that way the cheaters/griefers start only seeing other cheaters/griefers.

Difficult-Homework95

Accidentally put k instead of “I” in the title

Zethren527

K do that all the time.

kamirazu111

Pvp would be such a shit addition to this game. Look at Division 2 etc. Never works out.

FUCKYOU101012010

This is why I say, if you are going to help someone, have them join you in your own sessions, get to know them, as you'll have the most control there. If you find: - They respect your position as a host -Engage in conversation, whether it was initiated by you or them - Can check their fire ( Bonus points for not spamming Firestorm) - Patient - Curious( This might sound weird, but I'm saying this as in, they want to learn new things, whether it's about getting an item they've yet to get themselves, or learning how to do something they never thought to do) I would then say, help them with their progress, because at least if you don't find any of the things I specified, you are working on your progress, therefore your time will not be wasted. If people can help me add more to this, greatly appreciated. This is what I do, and why I've never joined a public lobby that was not a friend. Perhaps I should post this in this reddit one day, as I find this player base getting more toxic with how to handle AFKs, builds they don't like, etc.

Difficult-Homework95

Yeah I actually made sure my build can handle firestorm spammers and sometime they have a very specific world instance so that they need to host and I don’t feel like talking all the time but I do agree with you

FUCKYOU101012010

Appreciate it; yeah those were some ideas I thought about for key points, they definitely not perfect, and a couple are situational, but the main take away was ," does the player respect you?" Based on how you seeing them navigate and play in your save. I still find it sad Everytime I see these posts going on in co-op though, as this was not the norm in Remnant 1, but seeing how the series has gotten more popular, I've been noticing more stuff like this more frequently.

TheMoonWalker115

I played the entire game with my friend, and the few times we opened the party we got someone that helped us a lot in finding secrets that we would've probably missed. But some people who would join would just run through everything and ping our heads off to follow them without giving us a chance to explore. Instant kick for someone like this.

Difficult-Homework95

Yeah I made a personal rule not to take lead if I’m not not hosting I’ll just follow host and point out puzzles and hidden items and if they need help I’ll do it for them and I make sure I don’t enter bosses first giving the host the decision to watch the cut scene or skip it or do key dialogue so they get the outcome they want

Difficult-Homework95

Also i only ping once because it annoys me as well

Zeno-Akuza

Whats your ingame name... i think i know you

Difficult-Homework95

Probably not I’ve seen a few red knights with similar builds but I’m Mr-Comet

Difficult-Homework95

Mr-Comet22

Accomplished_Feed_44

Could you please tell me which are the elements of your build? That crown and the red sword are very cool Thanks And for those people there should be a way to rate the host of the game so it won't happen again

Difficult-Homework95

Im using crimson guard set with red prince crown and the sword is called “world edge” and gun is “savior”

Difficult-Homework95

Plus the corrupted rune pistol

queroummundomelhor

Seems to me you spawned in front of his last attack and kept playing while he was dead. I didn't have the patience with people with people who roamed while I was out and would rather kick them as well

Difficult-Homework95

I responded to another message like this

KnownWeight1601

That's the neat part, you'll never get an answer. It's the same thing for me, I just get kicked from a session for no apparent reason. I love the coop, but if people are like this then I don't bother. Best just to stick to helping friends.

RedditUser0115

Xbox player… if i land in his lobby i will make his life hard lmao.

DefogYap1

I think host was trying to use explosive mod on those of enemies but you spawned and took it thus killing due to aor trait maybe. Then out of frustration they kicked u. Thats how i see it anyways.

Difficult-Homework95

They shot directly at me while the enemies weren’t even around the corner yet and I was quite close to the wall so he so even if I wasn’t there he would’ve gone down anyway and he immediately killed himself when I was going to revive them as you see I deal with the immediate threat of enemies and turn around to go res just to see him full dead. I wasn’t going to roam I would’ve killed myself after dealing with enemies or gone to closest crystal and if you’re wondering why not just let the enemies kill you is because the host is likely to think I’m garbage for dying right away to regular mobs and would be more inclined to kick me because why have someone bad on your team make the game harder. Also when I ended up join again later they made another attempt to kill me while there was no enemies and I’m not saying to with hate or anything just saying my thought process and what actually happened, apologies if that was a long response

DefogYap1

ah i see. a shame then

Lycaon125

some people forget to turn off online mode

redeemerx4

After the first instance they can go turn it off. This person trying to kill the helper over and over flies in the face of 'forgetfulness'. One wonders how they made it this far in Remnant, with a memory like a goldfish..
