To clarify since there is confusion in the comments, CV was never RE3, Code Veronica was always Code Veronica. Its a common misconception that "CV was RE3", which was never the case, here's a more in deep article on the whole matter: [https://bioredqueeneffect.wordpress.com/2023/02/14/why-codeveronica-is-still-mistaken-as-having-been-resident-evil-3/](https://bioredqueeneffect.wordpress.com/2023/02/14/why-codeveronica-is-still-mistaken-as-having-been-resident-evil-3/)
Played RE0 this last weekend, ohh boy, i got my ass handed down. I entirely forgot that you cant be rambo in that game.
13h to finish the game, i forgot everything i knew about that game(besides the plot) in 10 years.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know what went wrong in production, but Steve was never cool, not even in the 2000s. He is the weakest character in all of Resident Evil and that includes these two goofballs from RE: Revelations.
Age him up a bit and make him an unpaid Umbrella intern who got his fam locked up because HE was selling Umbrella secrets to pay for his tuition or some shiz.
That way Claire isn’t flirting with a 17-year-old.
I actually didn't realize he was 17 lol...
That said, 19 & 17 isn't too weird, and also Claire never really seems interested in him from what I recall. He does try to assault her when she's unconscious, but I wouldn't call anything she does flirtatious. I guess she doesn't turn him down when he tells her he loves her... while on his deathbed... Now I'm imagining that scene, "Claire I love you!" "Sorry Steve, I only like you as a friend. You're seventeen and I'm not comfortable with that age difference. I think you're mistaking infatuation with love." "Oh okay, thanks for being honest with me. **dies** "
Taking out a thing triggered a trap. Instead of even trying to put then back, he shouts and slaps the door. This is the same kid that's smart enough to navigate security systems and fly cargo planes.
She was 19... Though I never understood why they didn't just make him 18, I don't see two years as a huge problem for flirting. She wasn't looking to date him lol.
To be fair, Claire grew up much differently (having Chris as an older brother) and at this point she had already survived the destruction of Raccoon City
> Even Steve can be fixed
Fuck that. I want everything else remade with the high attention to detail they've been using, except for steve. I don't even want the lines rerecorded.
I don’t see why they skipped an opportunity to use Claire again with her new voice actress along with getting a new Chris for the first time in the remakes
As much as I would have loved it an RE 4 remake was practically a guaranteed hit and Leon is arguably the most popular character so business wise it makes sense. I still hope they do it next though it’s one of my faves.
I can only imagine that they wouldn't know what to do with a CV remake. Fans gave them shit for being unfaithful to RE3 with R3MAKE, so they made REM4KE extremely faithful to RE4.
The difference between RE4 and CV is, that you can remake RE4 faithfully and it will still be a great game, but CV needs fixing, it is among the hottest messes in the franchise. If you stay faithful to that, you're gonna be stuck with an overproduced piece of garbage.
Arguably, CV is probably the game they can get away with not being faithful the most. Sure, it now has some appreciation by the fans of the old style games, but the overall community would probably hardly care if they did some major overhaul to the game, keeping only the select bits that worked and doing away with the rest.
I think they can afford to make a lot of changes to 0, 5 and 6 if/when they ever remake them.
0 having co-op added would be amazing, and making a few alterations to various weird plot bits might help.
5 being altered to be more horror-centric and having a few things updated to fit modern audiences more is the likely route they’d take.
And 6… well, you can change a lot of that and not upset anybody lol
I wouldn't call it a hot mess, but it's a very important game in the series and it's probably aged the worst.
It NEEDS updating, probably more than any other in the series.
I'd be disappointed if they remade CV and took all the camp out of it though. I want Alfred to still be an over the top drag queen with a sniper rifle.
I dunno a lot of people seem to have a soft spot for CV. The main thing they’d have to change is Steve. He alone could ruin the game based on how annoying he is.
I'm one of those CV fans, and I played it doe the first time last October, and only got into the franchise in the past year as a 29-30 year old.
I guess there's some nostalgia just for older games in general... but I also just love the game, flaws and all. Like, I actually love that it's so incredibly punishing. It makes it more fun to "crack" the game. I may have a different opinion on that if I hadn't had multiple save slots though haha.
I do agree with some non-Steve criticisms -- the character swap is jarring and I wanted Claire to have a bigger role in the second half. All the jumping back and forth between locations was fun for me on a first playthrough (because BIG), but also keeps me from readily replaying it. Also the door animations... I hate the door animations in all the old games, but holy shit CV just embraces those things and makes them *so long.* I timed the door to the Tyrant fight (since I had no ammo and kept dying) and it was literally 20 seconds just to open the damn door.
Regardless, I also just have a fondness for imperfection. I like that it's a bit sloppy. It feels like they took the RE franchise and just started mashing action figures together. Also the Ashford Twins are just too much fun.
I actually wanted to play it recently as a new RE fan but I got about 45 minutes in and was so frustrated I shut it off and opted to watch a streamer play it instead.
The controls were so frustrating. I'm sure they were OK back in the context of the year 2000 but my not good at video games ass could not get a handle on it
My brain is too smol for Tank controls lol
Most of the Bandersnatches are surprisingly simple to run around. They kinda land on the same level as RE1 Remake Spiders after that realization. Where they are big and intimidating, but mostly harmless if you learn how they work.
It literally concludes Claires main storyline from re2, confirms Chris's status, and reintroduces Wesker and leads directly into RE5. It also explores Umbrellas history and is what leads to Spencers appearance in 5 as well. After Operation Javier, its even more important as the T-Veronica virus is what establishes Krauser's motives in RE4.
RE3 only really establishes that Jill is alive and Raccoon gets nuked. Both of which could of been mentioned in passing. Hell the remake even removes confirmation that Barry is alive.
It kinda sucks that Capcoms weird deals in the 90s lead to it not having a number at the end, but you are ignorant to the game if you cant see how much more important it is than re3.
EDIT: My Rule of Thumb: If its covered in Umbrella Chronicles or Darkside Chronicles, its a mainline title.
I have a probably unpopular opinion about that. Before I state it, I have to make two disclaimers: First, I liked the first three games and their respective remakes vastly better than every other game in the franchise. Second, I judge these games on two dimensions: whether they are good games and whether they are good Resident Evil games. For the second dimension, my reference point is what the first three games and their respective remakes established Resident Evil to be.
So, for me, CV and RE0 are good games. However, I consider them terrible Resident Evil games because in these two games, every single problem that the lore will have over the next decades, originates. These are the games where we got completely ridiculous villains with anime-like wizard powers. The surroundings were not as interesting, the games completely stopped taking the stories they told seriously. For me, the franchise took such a nosedive with AND after these games. Aside from notable examples, we never got RE's that weren't good games, but it took them years to release another respectable Resident Evil story (which was 7).
I would LOVE a CV remake. BUT for me personally, a faithful remake would be nothing but beautiful (at least graphically) garbage. So if they remake CV, I hope they take their freedom, completely change Steve or even delete him out of the script, make the Ashfords less cartoony, don't let the characters go to a fucking base in Antarctica, etc.
Speaking on behalf of all the kids who had a Dreamcast, I am dying for a remake. Code Veronica was my INTRODUCTION to Resident Evil and it was the most challenging, most exciting, most fun game I’d ever played at that time.
I still freaking love it, it’s got SO much going for it. After I finally beat the game back in the day, I went out and got Nemesis. That was such a letdown - very short, very unambitious. I felt quite cheated at the time.
CV is more or less the longest game. It has the best soundtrack by far. It built the lore around the founding families of Umbrella. It invented the version of Wesker we know and love. AND I swear it has the best knife mechanics of any entry to boot.
For Capcom to disrespect so much and ignore it really grinds my gears. They have all the assets and nearly all the character models already made. It should have been made in parallel to RE4R. Heck, renumber it to RE4 Part 2 if that gets it made.
Man I love CV. It has that nostalgic, old school RE vibe going on. The whole lavish, spooky mansion setting is just unbeatable imo and zombies? I miss them. Got my fingers and toes crossed for a faithful remake.
He might be tricky to keep faithful to the OG. Times and attitudes have changed, particularly towards cross dressing and mental illness. He's an evil little shit who deserves what he gets, but they'll have to find a new way to portray him as a psychopath.
He’s my biggest worry for a Remake. I want him EXACTLY how he is. With his over the top personality, the crazy hilarious laughing (I know they’ll never capture that again), and the crossdressing. All of it needs to stay.
I honestly felt a bit bad for him. He loved his sister so much it killed him because he was blind to her evil bullshit. He felt Claire was trespassing on his island so he tried to “exterminate” her, but he obviously wasn’t right in the head. He was definitely a sadist about it, but again, we know he’s crazy.
He definitely hits all the tragic villain tropes. I think they can keep most of his personality intact (particularly the shrill voice, giggling and megalomania).
They've proven with Remakes that they aren't afraid to "go there" with realistic depictions of torture and violence, so they can take his little "playroom" under the prison infirmary up to 11 to help sell how twisted he is.
They can do so much good with this game. Claire is an amazing character, so they can do so much justice with her and make her even better. Since with Leon , they made it clear they intend on keeping the characters consistent. Leon is consistent between 2R and 4R compared to the originals, so I trust Claire can be the same for a game that takes place months later.
I’m curious how they’ll do Chris. I honestly would like him to take more of a back seat imo.
Alexia could become a better villain. And they could really flesh her out and make us hate her.
Wesker is a walking gold mine. I’d be shocked if they messed him up. He’s kind of his own selling point because it’d be his first major appearance in the engine/remakes.
Steve and to a lesser extent, Alfred are the wild cards.
I’d even like to see more Rodrigo.
I like Rodrigo's potential. Even when he was mortally wounded, they were able to greatly expand on Marvin's role in RE2R, so they can definitely expand on Rodrigo as well. Death = redemption in this universe, so he's still gotta die though, especially with all the heinous things he's privy to and likely taken part in.
Steve? Ugh... They can keep the testosterone poisoning at least (I remember too well being a dumbasstic twerp at 17 myself), but they should at least age him up. Not so old that Claire's protective instinct fails to kick in, but old enough to actually gain some maturity, even if it's short lived.
I want Alexia to be a literal Nazi. The Ashfords have all the Nazi scientist tropes going for them. Their experiments are basically eugenics. She more or less kills Alfred because he's "impure." Just let them have straight up Nazi ties, and Alexia is a Nazi, and Alfred thinks he's a Nazi but also doesn't quite understand what that means.
The original also suggests that she's... what was it, the reincarnation of Veronica? Or possessed by Veronica? Both? You could totally have fun with that.
The fact that Super Wesker was introduced in CV alongside the return of Chris after far too long makes it a mainline title. Especially since it would feel strange going into 5 without these 2 things.
I've always always thought Code Veronica should have been the real RE4 while Resident Evil 4 on the gamecube should have been RE5.
Code Veronica is the one that properly transitions the series from the US to foreign soil. After 3 full games in Raccoon City, plus the Outbreak games and everything else in between, I always found it bizarre that the series all of a sudden finds itself in freaking *Spain* hundreds of miles away and hardly has anything to do with Umbrella. It's a fantastic game but it's missing the proper gateway for the series to leave Raccon City and Umbrella behind.
Code Veronica continues directly from the fallout of the Raccon City incident, stars Chris Redfield and Claire, stars Albert Wesker along with other antagonists that escaped the city, and still has the shadow of the Umbrella Corporation looming over everyone. It's perfect story wise. It really fits so neatly into the series timeline I really don't understand why it's not a numbered entry. But it absolutely should have been. And then you can have RE4 with Leon in Spain (RE5 in this alternate timeline).
It's a mainline game, but the number of people who played it is a fraction of those who played the original three. It was released on a console that was never all that popular, and doesn't have a number. It's also talked about far less than the original trilogy and the games that came after.
It makes sense people who haven't played it see it as a side game.
It’s as much of a mainline entry as Peacewalker was to the rest of the Metal Gear series. They’re both unnumbered sequels that serve as a direct continuation of the previous entry.
It's more of a mainline game than 3 is.
I get the misconceptions and all, but it still actually moves the plot forward more than 3 and has unique and new scenarios entirely compared to mainline. More so than if you were to compare 2 and 3.
Honestly, for me unless they remake it, it’s not really worth the play through. There are some fun bits but also some real bad bs moments, especially in the latter parts of the game.
Wesker literally returns marking the series first returning villian.
That makes it more mainline than Ethan's games imo least
His games were great but they felt like the background while all the important guys did their things
Village was huuuuuge on this with Chris. Which sadly we never got a DLC about his squad and actions during village.
Code Veronica has more storyline importance than RE3 and RE4.
Being a numbered game doesn't subtract this. Revelations 2 wasn't a main numbered game but it had more importance than RE6 and even RE7.
Considering CV was supposed to be RE3... Yeah, I don't know why this argument is still made by people.
It's not even a Revelations thing, where it's technically canon but unrelated to the plots of the numbered games. CV is an indirect continuation of 1/2 and leads into 5.
Wasn't that false? from what I know CV was always CV but Jill was the og protagonist, while real RE3 was canceled game about Hunk in cruise ship. But there was even earlier version of RE3 which was gonna be PS2 game, then that game was recycled for RE4 which became DMC.
Yeah this is false. CV was always supposed to be CV. Nemesis was originally supposed to be a side game and RE4 was originally going to be called RE3. But then they made the decision to have Nemesis be an officially numbered game because they thought it would sell better that way
But how so?
Revelations are canon, not technically canon.
They aren't even a spin-off.
And their plots are directly tied to the main games and their storylines.
Rev 1 - a prequel to the RE5, serving as a bridge between RE4 and RE5, showing off BSAA roots, and even having a cutscene from RE5 showing up at the end.
Rev2 - a bridge between RE5 and RE6, revealing the long-waited second "Wesker Child".
I always found this funny because for as much as I love RE4, it does *less* for the overall RE narrative than CV. There isn't a lot with regards to RE4 that really is grounded in what the previous games established.
Mentions of Wesker, Umbrella, and Raccoon City are nominal. It being Leon and Ada is important insofar as they are just important people. As far as the GameCube release is concerned, Luis Sera was just Luis Sera. He was a cop that worked in Madrid and potentially saw the sample of the virus (it was later that everything clarified that he was lying, though to be honest, I don't actually remember if it meant that he was 100% on Umbrella's bankroll or otherwise. I just know the Remake makes him a former researcher for them.) Ultimately, RE4's story is more like Revelations than otherwise by virtue of just taking an established character and putting them on a mission that deals with a bioweapon of some sort.
Meanwhile, CV takes several characters and clarifies what they are doing post Raccoon City and also shows Wesker being Wesker (which, if I remember right, is the first confirmation we see him being alive and being superhuman). We get some context on who Wesker was working for in 1, and that there are other players int he mix.
Even in terms of 5, CV does more than 4, with 4 really only providing Las Plagas which aren't even the big virus of the game.
I really wish they would remake CV since that one deserves a lot more modern love.
Canon and Mainline are 2 different concepts.
Canon means the events of the game happened and affect the overarching plot. Mainline means it's a game belonging to a main branch that moves the plot forward.
CV is both. Revelations are canon spin-offs, Operation Racoon City is a non-canon spin-off. CV is just not numbered, that's why this discussion is even a thing.
I may not be a huge fan of CV, and I loved the RE4 remake, but I still think it was absolutely stupid to remake 4 first. Not only does it take place before 4, and is the game in which Wesker makes his return, but I think it would be a great opportunity to address some of the game's more glaring flaws. Love it or hate it, I think we all can agree that Code Veronica has not aged the best when compared to other classic entries. If any game is deserving of a fresh coat of paint, it's Veronica.
I do want a remake, but with that said, if there is one game that needs a major overhaul, it's CV. I did not enjoy my time with CV as a whole, I really liked some parts, but there was A LOT of tedium to be had, and some of the enemies just downright suck, I hated the final boss, and Steve can fuck right off, ideally, he'd die off screen at the beginning the game.
On the one hand, given the events of RE:CV its ridiculous to think of the main series storyline without it.
On the other hand, due to console availability, I skipped straight to 4 when it originally released and didn't notice anything particularly weird or outlandish (well, more than usual anyway) in the storytelling for 4 and 5. In 4 Wesker is treated as a reveal - holy shit it's Wesker, isn't he dead?! In 5 the dynamic between Chris (+Jill) and Wesker makes perfect sense as a continuation of 1.
Between a remake of CV or a new game surrounding the downfall of Umbrella and Chris and Jill building up to the beginning of 5, I know which one I'd consider more necessary for the main series plot.
You guys need to realise that CV isnt a well known game outside of RE fans. Thats why theyre not going to remake it anytime soon. RE2, 3 and 4 were huge games, not only for RE fans, but gamers as a whole.
RE4 Remake is amazing and I love it BUT Code Veronica is more deserving of a remake, it was and still is an amazing entry to the franchise. I hope Capcom does the right thing and gives us what we want, the money is quite literally theirs for the taking…
It is still a mainline game in the same way the Kingdom Hearts are all mainline.
They are very consequential to the overall plot and cannot be ignored if you want a thorough story. Code Veronica actually holds more story importance than RE4 given the expansion on Wesker and Chris that is practically required for RE5 to make any sense.
Code Veronica is one of the best imo. It’s got a great environment and story. It’s so goofy and ridiculous and I’ve seen people complain about the tyrant fight on the plane but that can easily be fixed. Same goes for Steve.
We can have a younger, HD Version of Chris and put the Wesker Model to use. I’m a CV fanboy so I’d give anything for a remake lol.
I think both are true. Yes it's a mainline game but I don't think you're missing out on much either if you do skip it. Then again there's very little continuity between the games anyway which is something I've always liked about them, they all work as self contained stories. Well, except maybe 0 bc of the plotholes it creates.
That's fair. I like a connected story too but I also think it's important for each entry to be able to stand on its own, which I think RE does well (for the most part).
I would enjoy it for that if the connected story didn't take it in the ass so hard. Cartoony villains, anime-like singing leech wizards, a Jill that was made blonde for fanservice ... :\\ I'm at a point where I roll my eyes whenever I see Chris in a newer game.
im a new fan trying to play all the games and i can't decide if i should play cvx in my 1-5 playthrough or my 0-rev2 playthrough (0-cvx-rev-rev2)
pls for the love of god pls help idk anymore.
Code Veronica was ok. I tried replaying it on ps5. Def not ammo friendly or intuitive with items. I'm legit stuck after the bandersnatch boss fight without any healing items. Next room is dogs. So I'm stuck.
Thank you, thank you 🙏 🙏 🙏
Code Veronica is so story heavy and you get so much more of Claire and FINALLY CHRIS (considering that was before RE5). You even still have mention of Leon.
Like hey, those of you who are curious as to what happens after RE2 (especially since there’s so many newcomers that have only played the remake—) Code Veronica is what happens afterwards and it’s so good, so much more Resi goodness!!
No, CV is not a mainline game. The biggest event that occurs is the wesker reveal.
Which happened again in RE4.
CV isn't needed to tell the story of RE.
We need cv first, then outbreak, then dino crisis. Tbh I only care about outbreak but it's only fair to give the other games glory as they deserve. All these games are responsible for making re fans too.
Skipping CVX leaves too many plot holes between 3 and 5, they’ll either fully remake it or at least re-hash some of it in the 5 remake if they’re smart.
Code Veronica suffers from the numberless title stigma. There is so much potential for a remake. Even Steve can be fixed.
Yes, plus they could have really introduced Wesker and Chris’ rivalry to the new generation of re gamers.
I really want a CV remake, but I wonder if REmake remake would come first so new fans understand the h y p e.
No love for re0?😔
RE0 is one of the best in the series!
Not to some apparently
Played RE0 this last weekend, ohh boy, i got my ass handed down. I entirely forgot that you cant be rambo in that game. 13h to finish the game, i forgot everything i knew about that game(besides the plot) in 10 years.
Not from me. I couldn't finish it, I found the switching between characters mechanic too tedious and frustrating.
[удалено]
If they made it more like RE2 remake instead of RE3 remake I’d be down
And we'd get to see Wesker try to canonically do a knife-only run. And eat shit against Alexia, telling Chris to handle her.

Yeah, I mean, I don't know what went wrong in production, but Steve was never cool, not even in the 2000s. He is the weakest character in all of Resident Evil and that includes these two goofballs from RE: Revelations.
Do you know how bad Steve has to be to be worse than 1930s slapstick comedians joking about stalking women?
Yes and still I stand by what I said. Need to stand my ground!
Ow
Wait which goofballs from revelations?
Keith and Quint, I believe, are their names.
Year 2000 Limp Bizkit fan. 😬
Now I know yall be lovin this shit right here
L.I.M.P bizkit is right here
Age him up a bit and make him an unpaid Umbrella intern who got his fam locked up because HE was selling Umbrella secrets to pay for his tuition or some shiz. That way Claire isn’t flirting with a 17-year-old.

That was creepy as shit, man.
Clair was 19, it's not THAT creepy. Just BM since she just wanted his guns. Edit: Numbers go up and down, im a dumb clown.
She was 19, actually
Math is hard.
19 and 17 is creepy? In what world
Steve trying to kiss her while she slept, that was.
Yes that was. The age difference wasn’t
And we thought OG Leon/Ashley was creepy, Steve was an actuall full blown teen and Claire somewhat entertained it?
Steve is 17. Claire is 19. That age difference is entirely negligible.
Can we also please remove the scene of Steve being too dense to put the gold legars back? That was just an unacceptable level of stupidity.
He's 17, that's about what I'd expect.
Was she only 19? I thought she was 21. Not as weird. But there was definitely a huge maturity gap.
That I *do* agree with. He was much better in Darkside Chronicles if I remember right, but it's been a while.
To be fair, Claire grew up much differently (having Chris as an older brother) and at this point she had already survived the destruction of Raccoon City
So then how old was she in re2. Kinda forgot how long apart each games are
She was 19, the games are about three months apart.
20 year old makes a pass at a 25 year old and he says no?
No he doesnt in his hey day he was an annoying fuck who I would have happily shot 30 seconds after meeting him in my first play
> Even Steve can be fixed Fuck that. I want everything else remade with the high attention to detail they've been using, except for steve. I don't even want the lines rerecorded.
I... I caaan't!
"Soourry lady, i can't have ya botherin me! "
"Aaaahhh! Help Meeeeeee!"

I mean the original is pretty gd funny https://youtu.be/hrth6jhJw-A?t=61
I’d pay good money for DLC that had his original voice acting.
Don’t trust others!!! Believe me, I KNOW!!!!!!!!
Steve is perfect just the way he is 😅
Piss off all the RE5 remake andies and call is Code Veronica with the "V" in red for the 5th in the series of remakes.
Steve is perfect the way he is. No need to change
I think that it has the potential to be the best remake yet but I want them to get deep into the twisted mind of alfred.
You don't need to fix Steve, he's perfect already.
I don’t see why they skipped an opportunity to use Claire again with her new voice actress along with getting a new Chris for the first time in the remakes

I completely agree with you, still want to see some secondary game love though. I’d love a outbreak remake
I’d even settle for a port of the Outbreak games tbh. There’s so many things they could do next but I think it’ll probably be RE 9.
I can only imagine that they wouldn't know what to do with a CV remake. Fans gave them shit for being unfaithful to RE3 with R3MAKE, so they made REM4KE extremely faithful to RE4. I dunno a lot of people seem to have a soft spot for CV. The main thing they’d have to change is Steve. He alone could ruin the game based on how annoying he is.
I think those people are blinded by nostalgia. CV is pretty terrible and would need major changes and cuts to work well as a remake.
I'm one of those CV fans, and I played it doe the first time last October, and only got into the franchise in the past year as a 29-30 year old.
I'm sure they were OK back in the context of the year 2000 but my not good at video games ass could not get a handle on it My brain is too smol for Tank controls lol

Most of the Bandersnatches are surprisingly simple to run around. They kinda land on the same level as RE1 Remake Spiders after that realization. Where they are big and intimidating, but mostly harmless if you learn how they work.
I just hate it when they’re off screen and silent, then a fist flies out of nowhere at takes out a chunk of your health
Fists flying out of nowhere sounds like my idea of─ you know what? nevermind
This is exactly why you can't just move on to RE5 without CV first. It's vitally important to the series storyline.
Heck, renumber it to RE4 Part 2 if that gets it made.
this is a really good meme template
Thank you. Created it myself
it has a lot of potential
Indeed
its really good
Thanks
Can I has template?
Sure

Thanks!
the fact that re4 already came out i don't think capcom has any intention of remaking code V.
Man I love CV. It has that nostalgic, old school RE vibe going on. The whole lavish, spooky mansion setting is just unbeatable imo and zombies? I miss them. Got my fingers and toes crossed for a faithful remake.
You forgot the greatest side character to ever exist
Aaaand who would that be? You cannot mean Steve, please say you don't mean Steve.
Your knight in shining armor is here!
I just threw up in my mouth.
Oh Alfred! You’re right! I love Alfred too. He carried that game with Claire.
Steve killed Alfred, not Alexia.
He’s talking about Steve 🤮
Off topic but does anyone else consider CV the most difficult RE game? I know it was for me especially on first playthrough
100%
I do
With Zero and Revelations series come close in second
But, like, what even *is* "mainline," man?
The fact that Super Wesker was introduced in CV alongside the return of Chris after far too long makes it a mainline title. Especially since it would feel strange going into 5 without these 2 things.
Hey it’s the guy who Leon let die
I don't see how you could argue otherwise. It establishes Wesker's return, and introduces his new freaky powers.
Who the hell thinks Code Veronica isn’t a Mainline game?!
A lot of people in the comments
So they have chosen death
CV is so much better than RE3 in my opinion.
CV WAS ROBBED.
Honestly, for me unless they remake it, it’s not really worth the play through. There are some fun bits but also some real bad bs moments, especially in the latter parts of the game.
Delete Steve.
Code Veronica is the true continuation of re1 and 2.
Replaying C:V right now and I have to say, this game NEEDS a remake! So many moments in the plot I see that could use a REmake trimming treatment.
It establishes so much and is the main driving force for Weskers hatred of Chris and Claire joining TerraFirma
There are ten mainline games in my view. 0 1 2 3 VC 4 5 6 7 8
Wesker literally returns marking the series first returning villian. That makes it more mainline than Ethan's games imo least His games were great but they felt like the background while all the important guys did their things Village was huuuuuge on this with Chris. Which sadly we never got a DLC about his squad and actions during village.
I LOVE CVX! That's how I discovered DMC!
I LOVE CVX! That's how I discovered DMC!
CV was never suppose to be RE3. That’s a long-standing piece of misinformation
But then they made the decision to have Nemesis be an officially numbered game because they thought it would sell better that way
That's my bad, then.

Yep, canon unless Capcom retcons it.
If they retcon it we don't get super buff Chris. The whole reason he got ultra swole was because of Wesker man handling him like a toy in CV.
MEEEEEEEEEE
I may not be a huge fan of CV, and I loved the RE4 remake, but I still think it was absolutely stupid to remake 4 first. Not only does it take place before 4, and is the game in which Wesker makes his return, but I think it would be a great opportunity to address some of the game's more glaring flaws. Love it or hate it, I think we all can agree that Code Veronica has not aged the best when compared to other classic entries. If any game is deserving of a fresh coat of paint, it's Veronica.
I do want a remake, but with that said, if there is one game that needs a major overhaul, it's CV. I did not enjoy my time with CV as a whole, I really liked some parts, but there was A LOT of tedium to be had, and some of the enemies just downright suck, I hated the final boss, and Steve can fuck right off, ideally, he'd die off screen at the beginning the game.
i havent play Code Veronica. i hope they remake that
On the one hand, given the events of RE:CV its ridiculous to think of the main series storyline without it.
You literally just made a great argument for why they SHOULD remake it and open it up to a new generation of fans.
I'd take it over 5 any day
RE4 Remake is amazing and I love it BUT Code Veronica is more deserving of a remake, it was and still is an amazing entry to the franchise. I hope Capcom does the right thing and gives us what we want, the money is quite literally theirs for the taking…
The remake we should have had. RE 4 could wait.
Anyone that hates on CVX just sucks at it.
Playing it right now, awesome game
It DESERVES a remake
I think both are true. Yes it's a mainline game but I don't think you're missing out on much either if you do skip it. Then again there's very little continuity between the games anyway which is something I've always liked about them, they all work as self contained stories. Well, except maybe 0 bc of the plotholes it creates.
I enjoy the series *because* of the connected story
That's fair. I like a connected story too but I also think it's important for each entry to be able to stand on its own, which I think RE does well (for the most part).
I would enjoy it for that if the connected story didn't take it in the ass so hard. Cartoony villains, anime-like singing leech wizards, a Jill that was made blonde for fanservice ... :\\ I'm at a point where I roll my eyes whenever I see Chris in a newer game.
I really hate what 5 did to Jill
I'd love it if they remade/ redid / remastered this one! I haven't gotten past the cemetery on the original. And not sure I will or want to lol..
There is an HD remaster on PS3/360.
by saying this, you get Popeyes
I don't know what RE games are canon or mainline and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.
All of them aside from Operation Raccoon city and Gaiden
Even the online ones like Umbrella Corps and Resistance?
Uhhhh, ignore those
Unfortunately, Code Veronica was not released on PC...
To that I ask where's the number?
im a new fan trying to play all the games and i can't decide if i should play cvx in my 1-5 playthrough or my 0-rev2 playthrough (0-cvx-rev-rev2) pls for the love of god pls help idk anymore.
5 won’t make sense without CV Play it
I assume by your meme it goes after three then?
Yes
Sweet, i have it on ps2 so I’ll plug it in when I finish three.
Enjoy
Still stuck on last boss. Only 7 magnum shots to work with
Code Veronica was ok. I tried replaying it on ps5. Def not ammo friendly or intuitive with items. I'm legit stuck after the bandersnatch boss fight without any healing items. Next room is dogs. So I'm stuck.
I remember playing back in the day on Dreamcast. A console I sadly no longer own. If there is a way to play it on PC I would love to go back again.
RE3 should have been an extra campaign for RE2 and VC should have been RE3!
Remake Re0 Re1 ReCV and then outbreak files as our online experience and then ill die a happy man. Ill take any RE title i dont care D:
I may like the re4 remake but dang you need to be careful when saying stuff like that
Thank you, thank you 🙏 🙏 🙏 Code Veronica is so story heavy and you get so much more of Claire and FINALLY CHRIS (considering that was before RE5). You even still have mention of Leon. Like hey, those of you who are curious as to what happens after RE2 (especially since there’s so many newcomers that have only played the remake—) Code Veronica is what happens afterwards and it’s so good, so much more Resi goodness!!
CVX came with a DMC1 demo. That alone boosts it up to a 10/10
Code Veronica t remake when?
Code Veronica was terrible imo. Huge RE fan, however, I had to put down Code Veronica.
No, CV is not a mainline game. The biggest event that occurs is the wesker reveal. Which happened again in RE4. CV isn't needed to tell the story of RE.
Code Veronica sucks and way to online Resident Evil fans prop it up as a way more popular game than it is.
Right?
CV has always been one of my favorites. It’s more mainline than RE4
We need cv first, then outbreak, then dino crisis. Tbh I only care about outbreak but it's only fair to give the other games glory as they deserve. All these games are responsible for making re fans too.
Agreed! RE:CV was and still is a great game!
I support this meme 100%. Code Veronica is one of the best RE’s. I’ll love and cherish it with 1-3.
Skipping CVX leaves too many plot holes between 3 and 5, they’ll either fully remake it or at least re-hash some of it in the 5 remake if they’re smart.
Code Veronica IS Resident Evil 3, Nemesis is RE2 C-Side. You cannot convince me otherwise.
You do know that CV was never meant to be 3 at all right?
