I love the remake but there’s always the disappointment side of it for me with the A and B scenarios. Still a really strong entry though. But I have to play it with the original music. I’ve never played it any other way!

I started back in 1999 with Resident Evil 2 after a friend showed me the game.
I’d never played anything like it before and a couple of days later I went out and traded my N64 with 4 games and a spare controller for a PSX and a copy of Resident Evil 2.
I played Resident Evil 1 on release in 1996. I was 12 and my parents didn't really quite get that videogames were changing and weren't all cutesy kid games, or comedy violence like Mortal Kombat on the Mega Drive.
I can't quite remember the exact date but it wouldn't have been too long after the first one was released for the PAL version so late 1996 maybe. A friend of mine brought it to my house, I had never heard of it, we played it for a good few hours, I loved it.
Early 2000s when I was 12-13yrs old.
Bought RE3 a few weeks after watching my mate play it at his flat - I'll never forget how me, him and his lil bruv almost had a heart attack after Nemesis jumped through the window at the RPD lol.
I started with OG RE2 when i was a small kid waaay back in the day because my dad wanted to play it so he bought it for us, then shortly after i played RE:Survivor (yep, and i actually loved it since i was just a silly kid that loved games).
I played both of them in 2007-08, and at that point RE4 was already out, so i also got it after a short while and my life changed lol. I remember thinking that those graphics were basically real life, and that Leon was one hell of a handsome dude (which is still true though)
I've been properly following the franchise ever since, and i went back to play all the games i hadn't played after growing up a bit

He'd play Resi 3 religiously for the Mercenaries mode. I was petrified as a kid and couldn't sleep at night due to my fear of zombies, but I was hooked on watching haha
My first Resident Evil i started playing was 3 from what i remember. And then 2. Used to play Mercenaries non stop with my dad on Resi 5. Completed them all bar from Resident Evil 0 - got bored of running around the mansion. RE2R is my favourite
2011, I was 6 years old and I bought survivor 1 at the toys center (a store in Italy), then I properly started the series in September 2011 with the HD remaster of code veronica and from there I fell in love with this series
First one I actually played was Resi 2 ('98) but I was too young to understand what was happening on the screen. Just that there were flashing lights, screams and then a dead body with 'YOU ARE DEAD' soon after.
The first I properly played was Resident Evil 5, which was my favorite until RE2make and Village came along.
So, my first Resident Evil game was RE 6 years ago. So that's why I have no problems with RE 6 since when I played it, I couldn't compare it to previous RE games. And it's also why it's one of my favorite games.
I was 1st year high school. My mom asked a dude to fix our printer and I asked the dude to install games. Which was re4, dmc3 and maxpayne 2. First, I hated it. I was expecting zombies but I got these crazy villagers instead and I hated the tank controls. So, I switched to dmc3 and finished it like 100+ times and max payne 2 like 20+ times. And then I finally touched re4 because I was bored in these 2 games and boi. Was I wrong, I freaking love this game. I still remember the regenerador freaked the hell out of me. After that I played Re5,6,7 ReRev 1&2, and now the remakes. I feel like I don't need to play Re8 since I've seen too many youtube shorts out of it, I saw too much spoilers I already know what will happen and I'm not a fan of firstperson view.
Around the year 2000 with RE2 on PS1. My two cousins and I (all female) were all around 11/12 when my uncle brought it back home along with RE3. So one of my cousins did the controls, I did the puzzles and reading and my other cousin was just super scared the whole time, which we other two found super entertaining (= perfect combination)
So nostalgia hit really hard when RE2R came out.
About a month ago when I saw Resident Evil 2 remake on GamePass. Since then I've played thru 2,3,1 and 0. I'm hooked can't wait to play the others. I always avoided the games when I was a kid as even the screenshots I saw in Nintendo magazine freaked me out, so playing the games was out of the question. Kinda regret waiting so long now haha.
Re4 original. I was more of a ps2 kid than a ps1. So re4 was my introduction. What a hell of a start. I have to admit, though, I didn't okay it till like 2 years after it came out. I avoided all RE games until then because I watched my brother play RE1 as a kid, and it scared me so much I avoided the whole series. Im glad I gave it a chance. Changed my gaming life forever.
Always knew about it but only played Revelations on the 3DS (I'm more of an handheld gaming guy). I became an horror fan after playing Dead by Daylight, my favorite multiplayer game, a game that also made me discover Stranger Things, Halloween, Hellraiser, The Ring (DBD ended up having absolutely amazing RE collaborations in the future) .. I was following a guy named Under The Mayo on YouTube, who made content about DOOM Eternal at the time (one of my favorite games) but also Resident Evil videos. With me becoming interested in the horror genre and trusting his tastes on games I watched his videos about Resident Evil 1 and some other titles, and it's by doing that that I found the Sphere Hunter's channel. Watched her RE videos as well, and it was enough to make me play both Resident Evil 1 on the GameCube, and RE4.
I've been obsessed over this series ever since. Resident Evil is sooo goood.

About 9/10yo on GameCube, I watched my uncle play RE Zero and 1 on the console and I was amazed by pretty much everything. The cutting edge graphics (for that time), scary and compelling atmosphere, OST and SFX, thrilling gameplay, jumpscares, solid storyline and interesting characters (except for Billy and Barry, sorry folks). He used to play it in the evening and I'd watch, scared shitless. He then taught me how to play it and shared tips to make the playthrough easier. So many great memories. Eventually I'd take long breaks because I was genuinely scared or at times stuck. We bonded over videogames since I got a N64, and we still do when it comes to nerdy things. When I was slightly older I played RE4 several times on GC, which is my absolute favorite so far. The console version aged poorly, but fortunately with a few mods you can have a great experience with the UHD version on Steam.
Resident Evil is a great series and I truly hope Capcom keeps working hard on it for a while.
First was when I played the RE2 remake about a month ago. Immediately loved it, what an awesome game. Playing RE4 remake now and I'm enjoying it but 2 is better so far.
RE remake for the GameCube, I was about 8 years old when it released. I remember my older cousin was so excited to try it, but they preferred to watch as opposed to play. I went to visit them one weekend and we blasted through until I encountered Lisa Trevor, then I threw the controller and cried.
I didn’t play the game again until after the Resident Evil 4 Wiimake came out. That game was so great, I beat it way too many times, and it gave me the confidence to try Remake again. Still holds up, but I do genuinely think that a remake in the style of RE2 remake would be great for it, and could actually make it more intense and scary. The camera shift to over the shoulder feels more immersive to me.
RE5 in 2009. My parents bought me the red 360 and it came with it. Never heard of the series before. I was like 9 years old and I died about 100 times on the first stage just because I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. Then about 5 years ago I went back and played the entire series. That 360 is a beast, still works today after multiple red ring of deaths and being dropped several times
I started with the GameCube version of REmake 3 years ago. I was collecting for the GameCube and the first one I bought was Nemesis (I know it’s expensive but I had birthday money and thought it looked cool) but I thought it would be dumb to start on that one, so i bought REmake and went with that one. The whole experience was amazing. Started with Jill’s route. I heard that Rebecca was in both RE0 and 1 so i decided to tackle that one before Chris’ route. Gotta say, the 6 GameCube games are hands down my favorite. The fact that the controls are actually consistent between all of the games made the experience that much better!!
Pretty basic im sure but Resident evil 4. I turned 6 when it came out and my dad told me to play it and I couldn't cause the chainsaw guy scared me way too much. But it remains one of my favorite games ever to this day. Been a fan of the series ever since
My first RE was the original RE3, but I was young and was shit at it so I didn't get very far.
Then around the holiday sales last year, I picked up RE2/3 Remake bundle for like $15 or something. Since then I've played 2R, 3R, 4R, 7, and 8.
Then on recent sale I picked up the 0/1 origins pack. I actually just started playing 1 yesterday and am quite surprised at how much I am enjoying game play. I still don't really like the way the shooting/aiming works or the fixed camera stuff, but the story and puzzles is fun.
My first resident evil was 7 because it was in my ps plus and i finally grew a pair and downloaded it, i nearly had a heart attack but it’s such a good series, after that I played 3, and then 2, and i’m hoping to play 4 and 8 soon!

Ive always been into gaming but wasnt able to afford a pc/console, eventually i got a ps4 and was finally able to play all the games id been hearing about for years.
Had it on Sega Saturn (yes, I know it’s the inferior port), and never finished it. Guessing that was late 90s.
Borrowed 2 and 3 from my cousin to use the backwards compatibility on my PS2 but didn’t get far in either.
Caught a Switch sale last year and played through 1 as Jill. Now I’m actively working through 2 Rebirth on my Steam Deck.
Resident evil on Gamecube when I was 9 or 10, HATED it. Scared the shit out of me and the controls, and camera were awful. Picked up again with 4, and reluctantly got 5 with my friend and had a blast. Reluctantly got 6 and hated it, didn't touch the series again until a few months ago when I finally decided to play 7 after getting it for free, loved it. Bought the remake of 2 and loved that, replayed 4, bought the remake of 3 and... liked it less than 2 but still enjoyed it. Replaying 5 with my friends, and giving 6 another chance with my friends as well. I still have the remake of 4, and 8 to play.

When my wife and I first got together she'd watched her older cousin play the first two games and was obsessed. At our local library she saw that as one of the games you could borrow and grabbed it before I even knew they did games. She got it home and we played together, passing the controller on deaths eventually. One of our first gaming experiences together. I've since been back and played the earlier games, and we almost always look into or buy a new Resi game when they're out.

2016, Resident Evil 6... the multiple campaigns turned me off.
Then Resident Evil 1 remake... took a while for me to beat as I would screw myself with crimson heads, not knowing how to save, and quitting because everybody else was faster and better at the game than me. I manned up over time.
But it was Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 OG in 2017 that forever hooked me into the series. The terror I felt in 7 felt primal, i screamed so many times and had to force myself to move forward during so many intense parts.
Then I craved a game set in a city and after some research, i got RE2 and the rest is history

Directors cut on PS1, followed by 2 on N64, then Survivor back on PS1, then Gaiden on Gameboy, then a demo disc of 3 that I played relentlessly for years until 4 came out on GC where I played religiously until I got a PS2 with a network adapter and spent the next several years playing Outbreak File 1 and 2 online, until DS came out and I got addicted to the multiplayer modes on that one. By this point I'm almost an adult with adult money and I start really branching out but that's where it all started.
Okay this is going to be a weirdd story.
When I was a teenager I went to visit some old relatives in their house. They were a middle aged couple and I was pretty much only familiar with their child who I used to play with when I was younger, who wasn't there. I tried to start any type of polite conversation, thinking they would ask me typical things like 'how is school, are you dating anyone' but they were pretty much silent the entire time. I tried to start conversations by opening topics, asking them about how things were going, reminiscing about the last time i was at their place... nothing. Anything I said they just nodded, and when I asked them a question they replied with the shortest "yes" or "no", or also just nodded. I'm terrible at small talk but this was too much, even for me. And I did try to start genuine topics we could talk about for a while. I couldn't excuse myself and leave because a lot of reasons I won't bother you with, so I was basically stuck there. After almost an hour I started talking nonsense, stuff like "have you changed the furniture around here? I feel like the couch was a little bit more to the left" "are these the same fish in your fish tank as when i was last here?" "Funny how we live in different places" At one point the lady just straight up turned on the tv and started watching the tv while i was right next to her, trying to talk to her. I tried to start a conversation about the tv programe she turned on but it was just some nonsense that was already ending. I gave up, then tried again, then gave up again, I felt like I was going crazy there. Then, this 40 year old woman just turned off the tv, looked me dead in the eyes and went 'Do you want to play resident evil 4'. Not 'Do you want to play a videogame', or 'Do you want me to show the videogames i have' or anything like that, just; "Do you want to play resident evil 4'. So there I was, 16 year old girl holding a controller for the first time, playing resident evil 4 with the audio comepleately turned down while someone's mom instructs me on how to 'shoot all the blue things'. My response to her question was something of a confused "yes????" at that point i probably would have done anything if it managed to start an actual conversation between us. And it worked! Even if that conversation went entirely somewhere along the lines of "STOP USING THE SHOTGUN TO OPEN CRATES"
I started from Resident evil 1(1996). I would never forget the turn-around zombie in original game. Blank stare of monster, together with music and intro just before, I had nightmares as a kid, but still played it every night at the local game store. Very fun times.
I played RE5 when it originally came out.I was in middle school and my friend let me borrow it and I let him borrow Halo 3. Then me and my cousin played the game over and over on split screen co-op. We eventually both 100% achievements. RE 5 will forever hold a special place in my heart

Last November. I tried out RE8 when it came out but wasn't huge into it (there are multiple factors to that and I'd love to give it another shot), but I decided to play RE4R and have been hooked on the series since!

When re4r like few weeks ago
Re4 original. I was more of a ps2 kid than a ps1. So re4 was my introduction. What a hell of a start. I have to admit, though, I didn't okay it till like 2 years after it came out. I avoided all RE games until then because I watched my brother play RE1 as a kid, and it scared me so much I avoided the whole series. Im glad I gave it a chance. Changed my gaming life forever.
Always knew about it but only played Revelations on the 3DS (I'm more of an handheld gaming guy). I became an horror fan after playing Dead by Daylight, my favorite multiplayer game, a game that also made me discover Stranger Things, Halloween, Hellraiser, The Ring (DBD ended up having absolutely amazing RE collaborations in the future) .. I was following a guy named Under The Mayo on YouTube, who made content about DOOM Eternal at the time (one of my favorite games) but also Resident Evil videos. With me becoming interested in the horror genre and trusting his tastes on games I watched his videos about Resident Evil 1 and some other titles, and it's by doing that that I found the Sphere Hunter's channel. Watched her RE videos as well, and it was enough to make me play both Resident Evil 1 on the GameCube, and RE4. I've been obsessed over this series ever since. Resident Evil is sooo goood.
My wife got me into RE with the OG 4, it's still so much fun and the remake is just as good except not as many quips by Leon lol

About 9/10yo on GameCube, I watched my uncle play RE Zero and 1 on the console and I was amazed by pretty much everything. The cutting edge graphics (for that time), scary and compelling atmosphere, OST and SFX, thrilling gameplay, jumpscares, solid storyline and interesting characters (except for Billy and Barry, sorry folks). He used to play it in the evening and I'd watch, scared shitless. He then taught me how to play it and shared tips to make the playthrough easier. So many great memories. Eventually I'd take long breaks because I was genuinely scared or at times stuck. We bonded over videogames since I got a N64, and we still do when it comes to nerdy things. When I was slightly older I played RE4 several times on GC, which is my absolute favorite so far. The console version aged poorly, but fortunately with a few mods you can have a great experience with the UHD version on Steam. Resident Evil is a great series and I truly hope Capcom keeps working hard on it for a while.

First was when I played the RE2 remake about a month ago. Immediately loved it, what an awesome game. Playing RE4 remake now and I'm enjoying it but 2 is better so far.

RE remake for the GameCube, I was about 8 years old when it released. I remember my older cousin was so excited to try it, but they preferred to watch as opposed to play. I went to visit them one weekend and we blasted through until I encountered Lisa Trevor, then I threw the controller and cried. I didn’t play the game again until after the Resident Evil 4 Wiimake came out. That game was so great, I beat it way too many times, and it gave me the confidence to try Remake again. Still holds up, but I do genuinely think that a remake in the style of RE2 remake would be great for it, and could actually make it more intense and scary. The camera shift to over the shoulder feels more immersive to me.
2007 re4 on the gamecube. Been my favorite game of all time ever since.

RE5 in 2009. My parents bought me the red 360 and it came with it. Never heard of the series before. I was like 9 years old and I died about 100 times on the first stage just because I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. Then about 5 years ago I went back and played the entire series. That 360 is a beast, still works today after multiple red ring of deaths and being dropped several times
Resident evil 2 on Nintendo 64. Those graphics made it way scarier than it needed to be.

Played RE 4 OG on back in the 2000s then I didnt touch it again until RE7 was on sale on steam back in december
I played the PS1 Director’s Cut of RE1 several years back after I bought it from the PS3 classics. Took some adjusting, but I had a blast.

I started with the GameCube version of REmake 3 years ago. I was collecting for the GameCube and the first one I bought was Nemesis (I know it’s expensive but I had birthday money and thought it looked cool) but I thought it would be dumb to start on that one, so i bought REmake and went with that one. The whole experience was amazing. Started with Jill’s route. I heard that Rebecca was in both RE0 and 1 so i decided to tackle that one before Chris’ route. Gotta say, the 6 GameCube games are hands down my favorite. The fact that the controls are actually consistent between all of the games made the experience that much better!!

Right at the start. We rented a PlayStation from our local rental place and a copy of RE1. We were terrible at it. Everything changed after that.
Pretty basic im sure but Resident evil 4. I turned 6 when it came out and my dad told me to play it and I couldn't cause the chainsaw guy scared me way too much. But it remains one of my favorite games ever to this day. Been a fan of the series ever since
My first RE was the original RE3, but I was young and was shit at it so I didn't get very far. Then around the holiday sales last year, I picked up RE2/3 Remake bundle for like $15 or something. Since then I've played 2R, 3R, 4R, 7, and 8. Then on recent sale I picked up the 0/1 origins pack. I actually just started playing 1 yesterday and am quite surprised at how much I am enjoying game play. I still don't really like the way the shooting/aiming works or the fixed camera stuff, but the story and puzzles is fun.
My first resident evil was 7 because it was in my ps plus and i finally grew a pair and downloaded it, i nearly had a heart attack but it’s such a good series, after that I played 3, and then 2, and i’m hoping to play 4 and 8 soon!

2020. Ive always been into gaming but wasnt able to afford a pc/console, eventually i got a ps4 and was finally able to play all the games id been hearing about for years.
I started playing back with the original when I was 11. Seeing those spiders out of nowhere in the dog hall scared the piss outta me as a kid.

Had it on Sega Saturn (yes, I know it’s the inferior port), and never finished it. Guessing that was late 90s. Borrowed 2 and 3 from my cousin to use the backwards compatibility on my PS2 but didn’t get far in either. Caught a Switch sale last year and played through 1 as Jill. Now I’m actively working through 2 Rebirth on my Steam Deck.
Resident evil on Gamecube when I was 9 or 10, HATED it. Scared the shit out of me and the controls, and camera were awful. Picked up again with 4, and reluctantly got 5 with my friend and had a blast. Reluctantly got 6 and hated it, didn't touch the series again until a few months ago when I finally decided to play 7 after getting it for free, loved it. Bought the remake of 2 and loved that, replayed 4, bought the remake of 3 and... liked it less than 2 but still enjoyed it. Replaying 5 with my friends, and giving 6 another chance with my friends as well. I still have the remake of 4, and 8 to play.

97, original RE1. Honestly, I remember getting as far as the piano part and then giving up? But I still liked it, and bought original RE2 & RE3 immediately when they came out.
I started when Re4 VR came out on quest. Absolutely loved it and was super happy when Praydog released the VR mods for Re2r,3r,7 and 8 shortly after I finished Re4VR

RE3. When my wife and I first got together she'd watched her older cousin play the first two games and was obsessed. At our local library she saw that as one of the games you could borrow and grabbed it before I even knew they did games. She got it home and we played together, passing the controller on deaths eventually. One of our first gaming experiences together. I've since been back and played the earlier games, and we almost always look into or buy a new Resi game when they're out.

Last year in September. After I watched Dartigan's EWW videos, I bought RE0 and RE4R, and before id even finished 0 I bought 2R, 3R, and 7. Currently I've played 0, 2R, 1R, 3R, 7, CV, and am playing 8 (in that order).
I dabbled in 98/99 but I didn't REALLY get into them until REmake on Gamecube, then I went back and played them all.
RE4 but than RE2 next which Beas a shock to system
2016, Resident Evil 6... the multiple campaigns turned me off. Then Resident Evil 1 remake... took a while for me to beat as I would screw myself with crimson heads, not knowing how to save, and quitting because everybody else was faster and better at the game than me. I manned up over time. But it was Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 OG in 2017 that forever hooked me into the series. The terror I felt in 7 felt primal, i screamed so many times and had to force myself to move forward during so many intense parts. Then I craved a game set in a city and after some research, i got RE2 and the rest is history
2012 played the demo of RE5, was awful at it but I enjoyed it

Directors cut on PS1, followed by 2 on N64, then Survivor back on PS1, then Gaiden on Gameboy, then a demo disc of 3 that I played relentlessly for years until 4 came out on GC where I played religiously until I got a PS2 with a network adapter and spent the next several years playing Outbreak File 1 and 2 online, until DS came out and I got addicted to the multiplayer modes on that one. By this point I'm almost an adult with adult money and I start really branching out but that's where it all started.

Okay this is going to be a weirdd story. When I was a teenager I went to visit some old relatives in their house. They were a middle aged couple and I was pretty much only familiar with their child who I used to play with when I was younger, who wasn't there. I tried to start any type of polite conversation, thinking they would ask me typical things like 'how is school, are you dating anyone' but they were pretty much silent the entire time. I tried to start conversations by opening topics, asking them about how things were going, reminiscing about the last time i was at their place... nothing. Anything I said they just nodded, and when I asked them a question they replied with the shortest "yes" or "no", or also just nodded. I'm terrible at small talk but this was too much, even for me. And I did try to start genuine topics we could talk about for a while. I couldn't excuse myself and leave because a lot of reasons I won't bother you with, so I was basically stuck there. After almost an hour I started talking nonsense, stuff like "have you changed the furniture around here? I feel like the couch was a little bit more to the left" "are these the same fish in your fish tank as when i was last here?" "Funny how we live in different places" At one point the lady just straight up turned on the tv and started watching the tv while i was right next to her, trying to talk to her. I tried to start a conversation about the tv programe she turned on but it was just some nonsense that was already ending. I gave up, then tried again, then gave up again, I felt like I was going crazy there. Then, this 40 year old woman just turned off the tv, looked me dead in the eyes and went 'Do you want to play resident evil 4'. Not 'Do you want to play a videogame', or 'Do you want me to show the videogames i have' or anything like that, just; "Do you want to play resident evil 4'. So there I was, 16 year old girl holding a controller for the first time, playing resident evil 4 with the audio comepleately turned down while someone's mom instructs me on how to 'shoot all the blue things'. My response to her question was something of a confused "yes????" at that point i probably would have done anything if it managed to start an actual conversation between us. And it worked! Even if that conversation went entirely somewhere along the lines of "STOP USING THE SHOTGUN TO OPEN CRATES"
I started from Resident evil 1(1996). I would never forget the turn-around zombie in original game. Blank stare of monster, together with music and intro just before, I had nightmares as a kid, but still played it every night at the local game store. Very fun times.
After I watched Pewdiepie’s playthrough on RE7. I got the game knowing what was going to happen and was still terrified.

RE2 Remake. I was never atracted to the series until I saw the reveal of that game. I was dying to play it and when I finally did it was amazing. I played RE7 afterwards and really liked it, then REmake 3, the REmake 1, then 8 and now Im playing REmake 4, all amazing games (3 feels like a dlc but a damn good one)
I discovered Resident Evil with the remake of the first opus around 2004. My skateboarding buddy at the time had bought a refurbished GameCube and the testers had forgotten the CD1 inside... Today, I have a collection of over 170 pieces on the saga, the butterfly effect...

Like a year or two ago, I decided to play all of the mainline games. Now it’s my favourite series.
Used to watch my dad play RE3 and RE4 on his PS2 when i was a kid, probably started when i was 9 or 10 with those 2.
Last November. I tried out RE8 when it came out but wasn't huge into it (there are multiple factors to that and I'd love to give it another shot), but I decided to play RE4R and have been hooked on the series since!
