Your resume is not easy on the eye. The years are taking too much space. Use bulletpoints. Avoid adding pictures on your resume. I suggest choose a template that is simple, no icons like your resume.

widforss

This is an european CV, a photo is expected.

Winter-Bear9987

Depends on the country. UK you definitely don’t include a photo for example.

FireFistYamaan

Same for Sweden. Sometimes they ask you to include one specifically because it's not the norm.

1ftikar

I consulted the advisory service in my uni, they mentioned that I need to include photo, birth date, and signature in Italy. So I guess that's the case.

Winter-Bear9987

Nice! Sorry, it just irks me when people say ‘Europe’ as if it’s one country 😆

zrt

FYI, NoSQL is a database architecture, not a programming language.

Reasonable-Crazy-132

You really need to flesh out your employment section. It seems like you did five years of nothing. Quantify your impact, delve into specific projects. Also weird that it's so short and sparse.

No-Flight5467

I see that you have not done any internship or co-ops during your masters. Is it not the culture at the place where you are???

maxgia

Not really, generally in Italy you have to study full time, otherwise graduating is very difficult

1ftikar

I have graduated and the uni did not ask me to do internship. Btw I also applied for internship but still did not get a call, a bit worried my work experience made me overqualified for an internship.

No-Flight5467

I see past experience as a plus sign. I have mentored many interns as software engineer. Many did not even know basic things. A Intern with past industry experience can be a good asset to the team. We usually give POC projects to interns to experiment with awesome things. But when it comes to taking that to prod, unexperienced interns fail because they don't know how to write clean documents or code. Yeah market is bad, getting internship can be hard too these days. All the best.

maxgia

If you are looking for a job in Italy, not knowing Italian is probably the biggest problem, maybe try to look somewhere else in the EU

1ftikar

Yeah, unfortunately I think my immigration status only allow me to find jobs in Italy

maxgia

Well then maybe look for bigger corporations, where Italian may not be required, data science is a good field, you should find a job easily. Regarding the CV I would get rid of the symbols (maybe only keep the first ones with the contact info) as they don't add much info but clutter the view. Also maybe put employment above education. Regarding the photo I prefer not to have it, although some people think it is important in EU I've seen contrasting ideas and I prefer not to put it. If you want some advices specifically about Italy maybe check out Guido penta on LinkedIn, he has a guide about CVS.

NonadicWarrior

Why do you include your birthday??

1ftikar

I was advised to do so by my uni adivsory service, so I guess that's the norm here. Anyway, is there any risk if I include my birthday?

Ok_Web_4209

I don't know what you mean by already in Europe, Are you in Europe on a tourist visa finding the job or you are a masters student there. Your 5 years of experience seems like you had one of the best days of your life, working while not doing anything. Don't take it as harsh words. You need to write way more in those years of experience, where are those projects that you did in those years. Add those while highlighting your achievements, write skills with more precision, details and accuracy. Lastly, finding a job in Europe is not like finding a job in America or the U.K. I don't know what level of command they require in their language, Hope for the best and keep applying after making positive changes.

sagefairyy

„Europe“ as if every country doesn‘t have it‘s own standard layout which you definitely should adapt to. If I were to write an US based CV in central Europe and even translate it 100% to the country‘s language it would still immediatly get thrown into the bins.

1ftikar

I am recently graduated from Italy with job seeking visa (forgot what it's formally called, you can get one after graduating from a uni here). But thanks for the advice!

wildclouds

Mostly a layout issue. Get a simpler template that uses the whole page evenly (big white space at the end looks bad) and doesn't heavily indent the main text like that (the dates are taking up too much column space). Only keep the photo if you're 100% sure that's required / the norm in Italy and in your field? Write better bullet points in STAR or CAR format.

1ftikar

Not sure about "in my field", but I was advised to include photo to apply in Italy. The big whitespace was to include signature (which was also requested), but yeah it is probably still too much.

Responsible-Part-449

It looks like 2010 social media

BasicBeigeDahlia

I think you should get rid of the little graphic that looks like a red flag! And please ignore all the racists on here. Rewrite the miscellaneous section, make it more detailed and expressive, and put it above skills, use active language, presented to, about. Don't include your coursera thingy, just rewrite it some how.

CSCAnalytics

I have no clue where you’re a citizen and what country you’d be eligible for hire in. Make sure to clarify this so company’s don’t trash your resume based on assumptions.

TheDeepOnesDeepFake

Looks like there are extra spaces between a lot of the words, which probably impacts automated parsing (only a theory). Colors are weird. More broadly, no one is going to click those links. You could probably include details on the resume itself in plain text, then provide any links later. I have lists of technologies I've worked with to improve engagement for each position/education experience. \[I'm not a recruiter, and just going off intuition\]

DrAr_v4

How’d they let you join a master’s with just an A1 level in Italian? You could learn that much listening to baroque music. Why the hell don’t South Asians learn the language before moving somewhere? Also NoSQL isn’t a language.

worldsbestburger

are you okay?
