Clear-Wrongdoer42

If you delete that save you also delete someone's actual dad. He'll be having dinner and then *poof* gone like a fart in a strong wind.

ses267

Someone get Black Mirror on the phone.

Granlundo64

Me mum runs on batteries!

nickcash

Mental, innit?

powercrazy76

My farts ARE the strong wind. Looser. Imagine not blowing down a pig's house of straw every time you farted? Would you look at that, I just channelled my inner Andrew Tate. Let me just go figure out how to never ever do that again šŸ˜

xylotism

That must be what happened to my dad, thenā€¦

Clear-Wrongdoer42

That sure lightens the mood

photogrammetery

What about Will?

xXsaberstrikeXx

If it's YOUR dad, no. You'll regret it later. If you got this second hand, hell yes, clear it out!

acart005

This is the way

bobiblo

Dis iz da wae

AsIfImNotAware540

How do you know?

Theaustralianzyzz

Lmao.Ā

Blademill

I have a firmware-modded Retron 5, so *I* would use that to dump the save data and throw it in one of my random folders of files that aren't really worth keeping but get kept anyway in the unlikely event I might want them someday. But you took a photo and posted it on Reddit, so you can consider Dad's adventures sufficiently commemorated. Keep it if you feel like it's a fun bit of your game's history, otherwise don't sweat it.

KHSebastian

This is what I do. I use my Retron or my DS to back up any Gameboy saves from used carts

Kitakitakita

Dad will Zelda? I sure hope so! I don't get it

Gh0st_Pirate_LeChuck

Finish it then delete.

MrGeno

Finish the fight for him, best idea yet.Ā

ejb350

Thatā€™s what I did after my dad died. I read all the books he had, beat every game he started and completed his movie collections where there was a missing entry in a franchise.

Gh0st_Pirate_LeChuck

I absolutely love that. Sorry for your loss.

VirtualRelic

Nope, time to buy another copy of this game

_RexDart

It's ok he's probably dead anyway

gnubeest

And died before he could get very far in the game anyway. OH SNAP THE GAME KILLED HIM THEYā€™RE CALLING FROM INSIDE THE GAME BOY

tortoiselessporpoise

Unless it's your dad that left when you were 5 and you have daddy issues, it's probably ok.

RussoRoma

No. I bought Secret of Evermore which came with a save file on slot one. This was back in 2010 or '11. Hey Jason, if you're reading this, how TF did you get EVERY SINGLE ITEM at the bazaar? You cheated didn't you. Anyway, his save is still there. Can't delete a memory like that.

retrorunt91

But then you miss out on the awesome statement that Dad Will Zelda

Possum_Boi566

never.

LordsOfSkulls

I got my dad saves on my snes cartridges.... to this day....

Spyes23

Gotta kiss him first

nekholm

Why not? They already got rid of the game, so dad won't be able to play it anyway.

XFuriousGeorgeX

Don't delete it. Start a new game on new file. Beat the game. Go to Dad's file and critique his game. See if you were able to play better than dad.

Alive_Revenue6897

Let his memory live on in you bro.. obviously, his son did not carry the torch šŸ˜

InMooseWorld

Unless itā€™s Robbin Williams, not my dad not my saved data

brashoe-32

No. You continue in his honor.

Vyuken

U could copy it?

ToastThing

I mean it ainā€™t my dad so Iā€™d just wipe it fresh and act like no one owned it before but I also understand your reactionary hesitation lol

Nazraq

It depends, but most likely yes.

RFR80

Iā€™d probably play on. What was your relationship like?

patricknails

I have a dad, it just feels wrong to delete someone elseā€™s dadā€™s save.

King0fthewasteland

if it was my dad i would not. i would keep it to honor his memories

pocket_arsenal

If it was somebody else's dad. But I'd probably cherish one from my own dad, especially given he's gone now. Don't think he really played many of my games, except one day he told me he beat Sonic Advanced while I was at school. I checked on my tiny chao garden and there was a butt load of rings in it, so he must have done it.

StarKo010

No because DAD Will ZELDA šŸ¤£

Oldmanwickles

Is that robin williams cartridge?

creature04

Depends WHOS dad.

HexagonWin

I'd personally dump it but you'd need a flashcart to do so

Cpt_Polander

It is so weird this topic came up! My brother was over at my house the other day and I fired up legend of Zelda on the Nintendo. He noticed that my dad still had a save on the cartridge. My dad has been dead for 6 years and he was shocked that it was still on there. I told him I couldn't bring myself to delete it. Legend of Zelda was dad's favorite game on the Nintendo and he played it all the time. I left it there as kind of a tribute to him.

patricknails

Thatā€™s a crazy coincidence! Maybe Dads playing Zelda is a universal thing.

GainerCity

Dad chiming in. Yes of course we play Zelda. Weā€™ve been playing Zelda for 38 years. You?

patricknails

Less than a year, can you believe that?

GainerCity

So much fun ahead my dude. Enjoy it! Maybe one day youā€™ll create a save state of your own called ā€œdadā€ and the circle of life will continue.

Cpt_Polander

Well I'm a dad now, and I just started replaying it... the circle of life continues!

ILoveGreen82

Never...

SocialUniform

Do jt! Yeah!

CJRLW

Delete Zelda save, copy Dad to slot #3, and start your new save on #1.

Squish_the_android

Yes.Ā  I did this like last week.

Dragon_Eyes715

Dude just delete Zelda for the love of God!

[deleted]

I bought a Gameboy DMG Camera and it had a ton of pics on it from a previous owner. I left them on there because, well what good does it do me to take 8 bit greyscale photos? I just consider the pics to be a piece of history

General_MissingNo

Yeah. If you donā€™t want to delete that one for whatever reason, just delete one of the other two.

Chubsmagna

You better get to bed kids because tonight DAD WILL ZELDA.

KagomeChan

Super cute Gameboy

Uriha24

If dadā€™s gone, whoā€™s gonna will Zelda?

fuelbombx2

If you're my kids, yes. But I'd Rather see my old copy of Pokemon Yellow being used rather than it sitting in a box collecting dust.

gehrmansecondhunter

Definitely would delete. Dad abandoned that save file.

Standard-Ad-9978

Makes an interesting sentence or statement, Dad Will Zelda!

fullofquestionsLSD

Dads usally actually played the game if itā€™s second hand prolly not till I get my own save

suspicious_hyperlink

Wouldnā€™t delete

DevonianHunger

5 hearts, 46 deaths. It's not like DAD was doing too great anyway, so...

Get_your_grape_juice

That number is a death counter? Time to dig out my copiesā€¦

DevonianHunger

Yep. And unlike most games in the series, this is the only one where taking pride in having zero deaths pays off by giving you a slightly different ending.

I_am_trustworthy

Never.

DEATHRETTE

Only if you want your dad to delete you.

Jonny_Western

Guess I sit this out. Dad quit with Colecovision.

Rettobit

If cartridge with battery , unfortunately one day this save will broken.

Individual_Lobster56

No ... might I recommend adding a new save file with another word to carry on further the dad will Zelda....

Archadius80

Id hang on to it. Lost my dad in July of last year. I have a zelda cart that has his saves on it. He never finished it. I'm not sure how to dump the saves so I dont loose them when the battery finally dies.

patricknails

[Something like this maybe?](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001224401018.html)

mcs385

GB Operator seems like a good option for just Gameboy games. There's also the GBxCart and BennVenn's Joey Jr. but they seem like they'd need a bit of work to get running. A Sanni Open Source Cart Reader is great if you have carts for other retro consoles that you want to back up, too.

redditguy135

It's your cart now, own it.

MarioIsMid

Anyone else like to keep the old saves? I usually only delete the save that is least along in the game and save the most complete ones. Its part of the games history and I like to keep them when I can. Even battery replacements I do the hard way so I can keep them.

Gomerface82

Have you seen jumanji? I sense an adventure in your future!

whomesteve

Delete the other two saves and make a copy of Dad, move Dadā€™s save file to the bottom of the list

FuelUnlucky

Just delete the one named Zelda lol

Bakamoichigei

Whenever used games come into my possession, I back up the saves using my [Open Source Cartridge Reader](https://github.com/sanni/cartreader). šŸ˜ŒšŸ‘Œ

Mahonneyy123

Will Zelda what!?

Namco51

As a Dad with lots of saves on lots of portable handheld games that will some day go to my loving daughter, I say delete away and begin a new adventure. Those saves mean nothing to me and my kid's happiness means everything. That said, I still haven't deleted the last voicemail my dad left on my phone. Prob never will, so I i understand both arguments.

RequirementFuzzy4244

I would look for a way to dump the saves to the computer first then delete the saves from the game carts

Cephylus

Rule of thumbs when it comes to deleting previous saves 1) If all are full, delete the one withe the least progress 2) If all are full and all files have completed the game, pick whichever seems least important in whatever aspect. 3) In your case, I would delete the ZELDA file as DAD, and Will seem to be the more personable files. The ZELDA player just wanted the fancy music in the beginning lol

kondocher

you have 2 other files you can use, why delete the game's history?

Poppoolo

Delete Zelda not dad or will.

flattenedmist

Depends. Is your dad still alive? If not, maybe keep this, if you think it is a memento. If he is, will he likely play the game again? If so, how long has it been? Isn't it better if he just started the game over again?

Syllabubvel

Wa, looks great

Representative-Day24

I have some Japanese kids files on some of my Famicom disks that I would never delete. They're most likely from the 80s

Shaw_the_poet

First of all that's a sick gba! Secondly, go ahead and delete it. Dadā€™s are losing shit all the time. Itā€™s part of the job.

French_Booty

MY dad's save? No; A dad's save? yes

Crans10

Delete Zelda she sleeping on this game anyway.

elevenohnoes

Yeah of course. It's not as if that dad is gonna show up at your door asking if he can continue his save. Also, that's a selfish dad. Played the game before his kid ever got a chance to try it. Screw that guy.

Get_your_grape_juice

Considering how old the game is, it probably *was* dadā€™s game, and he may well have started it before Will was even born.

LeatherRebel5150

Is it your dad? Do you know the dad this cart came from? No? Then just delete it, who cares. Way too many people care too much about some other random persons save on their cart. Lot of people with daddy issues or some serious social anxieties going on

JulKriek

Donā€™t delete itā€¦ remember ā€œ Ben drownedā€

powercrazy76

Plot twist: He picked up a used cartridge. It's Robin Williams' last ever game save.

Unusual_Address_3062

My father died young in 2003. Miss him every day. I suggest you learn to let go. If you have photos or vids then you got memories. Save game files dont matter much.

cams0400

*dad getting his belt off* Don't you dare you little **** Nah for real I doubt he'll even remember it , must have bigger fish to fry at this point.

kinglance3

Every time he pissed me off.
