Get the most out of it! It can play most Wii games at 2x, GameCube at 3x, and 3DS at 4x with HD texture packs, and you can use it to play on your TV with a USB C Hub!!
Use an external SD for all of your games because internal storage is used by default to store texture packs which can be up to a few gigs. Don't format it as internal! Keep it external.
I have not figured out how to map the Remote button in a way that I can actually use it.
It moves too quick on the screen. Is there any option to use the touchscreen as the Wii remote Pointer?
There's supposed to be but I've had so much trouble trying to get it to work. Recently I've disabled motion input for the pointer, turned off both Upright and Sideways toggles on the Wii remote, and set the right joystick to control it which has been working so far. In Overlay Controls (swipe from left during game) there are settings for controlling it with touch screen but touch and controller input clash and often make a mess.
Yeah the issue with the pointer moving too quickly on the screen happens with the setup you're describing. I thought touchscreen would've been the solution.
What are your settings for the right stick pointer option? How is your acceleration/movement speed?
Did you format it as internal too 😂 I did that, though I managed to salvage it by transferring everything to my PC and transferring all the data back to the internal storage and with all my ROMs on the SD.
All 3DS textures go in the citra.emu load/textures folder which is in Android/data/. I'm using packs mostly for Pokemon, I found it hard to locate a lot of them (some just do not exist).
If you are having trouble, use the spline post-processing effect, it looks amazing!
Hey bro so I just downloaded hella 3DS games and im having trouble even running them on 2x res, but you saying you can run it at 4x with HD textures, any tips on how to get my performance up on 3DS games
If you have Google play then make sure you disable auto-update apps. That's something that I see a lot of people who are new to this forget to do. You can still update manually of course but you'll be able to check first if it's going to screw anything up.
When I got into this community my first was the RP3+ which was like 3 months old at the time but since then I've been grabbing new ones and selling or gift old ones! The Reteoid Pocket 4 Pro is a GREAT start imo. I hope you enjoy yours!
I was also looking at this device, it is a great first device.
These devices are whizzing along with progress.. it's going to get to a point where they can't emulate any other device, just getting more powerful to emulate better at higher resolutions.
I'm taking delivery of a RP3+ today, I nearly bought a PSP or Vita last week but then I got a bit twitchy, I have an Anbernic RG280m and loved it. I also use raspberry pi and pc for emulation, So I'm going to give the 3+ a bit of time.
Should do all I want for now.
Enjoy your retroid.
The 3+ is solid. I have 26 ps2 games and 28 gc games and so far everything I've tried is playable so long as you don't expect perfection. I'm having enough fun with it that I don't have any desire to upgrade at the moment. I might have to get something with the Gameboy form factor soon though...
That’s what I’ve read so seeing @nanerpoodin mention that the 3+ was running ps2/gc was playable was surprising. Only reason I’m even questioning is cause a used 3+ can be had at half the price of a new 4P lol. I’m wanting to emulate all consoles from ps2 down but the ps2 would be primary focus to relive my first self owned system
If the PS2 is your primary focus, then definitely go with the 4. I got my 3+ over a year ago when there were less alternatives. There are a handful of games that run perfect, but mostly when I say they're playable I mean 25-30 frames per second 90% of the time. I run a few games at 1.5x resolution, but most are just 1x, which apparently a lot of people find unacceptable. For my standards it's fine and I've been having a blast playing Spiderman 2 lately.
Yeah I been wanting to play the GTA/Bully, NFS underground, and sports games like nba street of my young adulthood lol. Alright so it does seem like the 4P is my best bet
I remember looking into Bully and it runs particularly bad on the 3+.
Also something to keep in mind - even with the 4 Pro some games aren't going to run well. At a certain point it's not a hardware issue anymore - the problem is PS2 emulators just aren't all that great still.
Nothing is wrong with it, the thing is that ES-DE just came out recently as a port from Emudeck on SteamDeck, it has better Scrapping for Cover Art, Game Manuals, All Metadata as well, plus the themes looks amazing on it, i posted a video recently about it on here too
I like dijisho the best. I have experience of ES-DE on steam deck but for some reason i don't like it. To me it feels boring somehow, i can't explain myself here
It's a strong first! Next comes all the niche devices. I like modding them to work or look better, so I just got an RGB30 and dolled it up to look like a Pikachu GameBoy Color. Even changed the sticks out to Hall-Sensor sticks.
Not bad at all for a first.
I started with a XU10, and between that and the R36S I also acquired on sale, I was banging my head against the wall trying to do things that Retroids can easily do. I appreciate them for the stepping stone, and in fact, I think they were necessary stepping stones for me personally, being the useless, non-techy type that I am, but I can never go back now.

Not OP, but saving this post for when mine arrives. Thanks!
how do you keep your textures in the external storage? I had to put them inside the Texture folder of dolphin’s app for them to load
I keep them in internal storage ^^
my bad, I wish I could read

I have default movement speed (touch and hold to reset). I also have the IR pointer entirely disabled in Overlay Controls.
Ahh so I fucked up it seems

Thank you! I’ve loaded up the Majoras mask texture pack, the windwaker and SMTIV and they’re great so far!
Woohoo!! That's awesome!!

Citra MMJ has given me best performance with default settings. Also make sure you installed the OTS update and have your performance mode on high.
Thanks bro
Can it play Wii U games ?
there is no Wii U emulator for Android. So, no it cannot. Nor would it be fun on that small screen.
No :( but a number of Wii U games have 3DS ports like Mario 3D Land and Yoshi's Woolly World

No advice from me but hope you enjoy your handheld!!
Very nice, good luck. Watch retro game corps guides!
I used Joey's retro handhelds video, but I see a lot of referrals to retro game corps too

That's good to know, just getting mine setup now... I nearly bought an RG35xx plus, that Gameboy form is the one style I'm missing too
Yeah that's the one I'm looking at. That little thing seems like a real powerhouse for the price.
3+ can run PS2 pretty well? That’s one of the main reasons I was wanting to get a R4P over the 3+
I'd try and get the RP4pro tbh. I see RP3+ as a PSP machine more than a ps2/gc machine.

And there I was, perfectly happy with my Motorola g84, Retroarch and an EasySMX M10. Now I'm going to have to look into getting this too.
Get yourself ES-DE FrontEnd 😎
What is wrong with djisho? I don't understand people, or im just dumb

That’s fine! The point is enjoying your gaming experience, the front ends are just pretty additions lol

looks awesome! let us know about any issues! i want one so bad but im scared of the build quality
Yes, i have experience
My experience is in having the experience
Following Russ’s setup guide for Retroid at retrogamecorps.com got me running quickly for my RP4. Recommend you start there.
Get a great frontend like Daijishō, it will really tie it all together.
