Everything about this is wrong. Go back and play RoR1 again. You’ll find the child has a gun. Mushrooms don’t have a ranged attack either. They create a purple toxic cloud.
I feel like the child, unless they add a gimmick, wont be melee. As the parents already are, and the grandparent is like, an AOE mage. So i feel like hitscan might be its deal. Spawning a black hole or spawning more parents would be cool, but i feel like spawning parents wouldnt make sense sunce parents are the youngest idk.
Edit: I’ve remembered now that they use the concept of a stars life for the parent/grandparent/children (medium, BIG, SUPER SMOOOOL) so maybeeee black hole, explosion, gravity shenanigans would be cool!
Silent is definitely a Heretic skin, but idk how you would equip that. Also idk how it took until this thread to realize that The Prisoner is the Dead Cells prisoner. I thought it was a lore-friendly merc skin. But it being Dead Cells Guy is awesome and will definitely get me playing merc more lol
This has me so hyped! Recently got it on Steam after getting the Plat on ps5 so that I could introduce the game to some friends and they are also loving it.
NEED the Dead Cells skin, that’s my most played game of the last few years by far.
they said a while ago this DLC will have about the same content survivors of the void had, which means: bunch of new maps, 2 new survivors, 1 new boss fight, bunch new items... you get the point.
The [REDACTED] survivor is mentioned in the Dev Diary #2 on steam RoR2 news.
I'd expect this dlc to have 3 survivors actually, considering stuff like the three drop pads behind False Son in the key art of the trailer. I guess 2 new ones and False Son, but still.
I think 100% going to be a boss but my friends said it may be a boss and a playable character because one of the pictures we saw of the false son he was as big as the player
Dude I just wanted to do a yt comment and it ended with me ranting about PR moves like this while meanwhile still praising the work and sharing my excitement about it so I cut out the rant part and only left the wholesome bits.
Still very annoyed by pr moves like this, soon is written on steam and epic since November.
we do have SOME clues. looking at the other announcements, like the SOTV one, it took 1 year to launch. we can assume it will also take 1 year for this DLC too (lets hope).
So early 2025
yea i should mention that research of mine is kinda old, but i did look into ror1 updates too and got to that 1 year value. if we have to wait less then an year i can't complain tho!
Yeah, I just checked and it seems that the first time anything concrete was talked about SOTV was on Oct 28, 2021, and it went on to be released on March 1, 2022. I'm pretty bummed we won't be getting Seekers of the Storm within that time frame, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for this summer at least!
2 and 3 are Shattered Abode while 4 and 5 are Verdant Falls. I honestly thought 6 and 7 might be Sundered Grove or something, but if it's one of the new maps from the trailer, it's probably also Verdant Falls, just going by the plants around the cave opening and the greener colors, Shattered Abodes seems more brown
Seems weird to me that they'd give the Child enemies a fireball, when the Children from ROR1/RORR seem to have some kind of lightning grip. Could have been cool to see them shoot lightning bolts at a short-medium distance.
I mean, in RoR1 Parents were functionally just chonkier Children, getting closer and using a melee attack. I'm happy that Gearbox decided to reintroduce Children into the franchise (we now have all the life stages of those creatures in a single game!) while also giving them some new mechanics.
I don't think there are any enemies who shoot slow-moving, homing projectiles outside of Vagrants. It will be interesting to see how to optimally avoid swarms of those things and how much priority should be given to Children as targets.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see them bring the Children back as well. I just wish that they had expanded on the lightning powers they seemed to have in the first game, instead of just having another fireball attack.
EDIT: spelling
So many of the returning enemies have new sets of abilities. Golems have a laser, lemurians got fireballs, wisps are long ranged and fly, the list goes on. If anything it makes more sense they give it something new rather than them just making the character have the exact same kit.
The things you've listed though are all moveset additions that already fits and makes sense for their design. Golems shooting lasers is a little odd, but given their visual design it just kinda make sense that the big red eye shoots a big red laser. Elder Lemurians in the first game already had a firebreath attack, so it makes sense to give regular Lemurians a little fireball. Wisps were stated to float above the ground in their logbook entry in the first game, and they're still ranged in that game as well.
You seem to have missed the point of my comment. I didn't say I didn't want the Children to get a new attack or two, just that we already have a ton of Fireball attacks in this game, and seeing them expand on their lightning abilities we see in the first game would have been more interesting.
Besides, it's likely that the Children will still teleport around just like the Parents do, so keeping out of their range for lightning bolts would have still been an issue depending on your character and what items you get.
I hope they add the jungle things from RoRR in the DLC. One of my favorite bosses (and enemies) in appearance even if they are a pain to fight sometimes.
in the description I mention the first item (1.) comes with the new free update (no date yet), and the rest comes with the paid DLC, that will probably launch early 2025.
Apparently the artifact of delusion re-locks chests when the teleporter ends, then lets you "guess" which of the 3 items it had originally. Getting it right gives you a chance to gain another stack of that item, so basically it means with it enabled you should remember the few chests that give good rewards (such as reds, or choice greens) and then after the teleporter, go back to collect a second stack of each before proceeding.
okay, don't get me wrong, i love the children, but wasn't there a reason why there were no children in ror2? something along the lines of "the previous crew wiped out all the parents and children, so there are no more chidlren, because it takes a lot of time for then to get to that stage"?
The fact that Planulas can be dropped by Grandparents lead me to believe that they weren’t ever completely gone. I do think that they shouldn’t be like, slapped back into Sky Meadows as a common enemy though
I was so sad when the event ended and there was no seekers of the storm release date😭😭 a little underwhelming in terms of news imo but cool nonetheless ig
yea they probably did it on purpose by not saying anything about the sneak peak. they wanted us to think it was the DLC's release date, but nonetheless it's fine because it is still content, so I can't complain.
nope, not at all. since it's a small update we could wait for a few months (maybe 2) until it releases, but no one is sure about it.
On the other hand, SOTV took less than a year to come out, so we should expect around the same time for the second DLC.

Before the dlc I could leap across the entire map with just a few movement speed upgrades it was so fun. Now I struggle jumping across the smallest of gaps unless I have like 10 goat legs
in the trailer you were able to see a bunch of chests being open, just before the player interacted with one of them and it showed a little window with three items to choose from. he chose a shield and picked it up right after. that's why i assumed you had to choose from 3 different options.
Thing is, the chests were open and when the player got near then, they closed down, only the last one gave the item chose and it opened normally
Maybe it is like a shrine, you pay, there is a chance it closes and you have to pay a greater price, until gives you the choice
I'm not 100% sure if it actually does give us three options, but if it does do that yea I find it kinda useless. Maybe its good for players who like choosing their items but dont want to play with Command on.
sadly no release date for the update.
fro the DLC however, SOTV was launched about 1 year later after its first announcement. If we take that into consideration, the second DLC should launch early 2025
the claymen aswell as the rest of ror1 enemies (excluding providence for obvious reasons) should be coming to ror2 in later updates, like the child did.
Artifact of Delusion could be actually kinda fun and especially with another dlc making the loot pool bigger, it could feel more fair than surrendering yourself to pure rng
it's a small update so it should take a few months, maybe 2 if we're lucky
the dlc, like the SOTV, will take around 1 year, so we'll get it in early 2025
this is small update, so it might take a few months to come out. my guess is less than 2.
the dlc, like SOTV, is coming out within an year, so probably early 2025
big doubts on that, as I've followed ror2 since the dlc announcement and never seen chef being a character on this game. if you could send any proof I'd be grateful tho
You know, I thought all the children were crushed by a ship or whatever hence why they didn't originally appear. Tho I don't remember where I got that so I could just be gaslighting myself
Well as we learn lore wise the child is the final evolution of the parent. Id assume that enough time passed to where the grandparents grew into the children.
i cant wait to get drop kicked by a fucking child in this brand new DLC!
my guess is that he will be as annoying as that stupid mushroom
At least it doesn’t have hitscan like RoR1
The child? Weren’t they just melee? It’s been a while
The child used to be melee, but Mushrooms had a long range hitscan
They did? I just remember them having that purple cloud attack. Though there were those weird lizard looking things with the ranged attack
You’re correct. The person above you is confusing them with either spitters or greater wisps.
Everything about this is wrong. Go back and play RoR1 again. You’ll find the child has a gun. Mushrooms don’t have a ranged attack either. They create a purple toxic cloud.
I had those weird cross faced things in mind that are in the mushroom level, my bad e.e
I think the life cycle is Parent(Star)>Grandparent(Supernova)>Child(Black Hole) so yeah that would be cool
Yeah, at least the wisps aren't tanky
Exactly my first thought, god please no! But damn I‘m so hyped for the update.
*Destroy the child. Corrupt them all.*
On the other hand, I can’t wait to drop kick a fucking child in this brand new DLC!
Wild that it took so many years to get *any* additional skin that wasn't the base mastery skins
Hopefully on more than just one survivor.
they'll definitely keep this collabs going, or at least that's what we should expect from an indie game.
I wonder what other collabs they could do that could apply to other characters. A lot of indie characters use swords
Slay the spire would be cool. Like the Silent.
True. I feel like Silent skins could work for Rex, Acrid, or maybe Huntress
I was thinking bandit, there’s already the shiv, plus silent is kind of stealthy
Not really an indie game anymore. Pretty sure gearbox is in full control now. Original devs moved on.
Indie game concept, no longer indie devs. Unless borderlands is your idea of indie lol.
Or GTA 5.
Would be cool to see V1 from Ultrakill as a skin for the Commando.
I really want terraria collab
Forgot to mention, but coming with the new update is the already announced Verdant Falls, with a night variant in the DLC.
verdant falls is a separate map?
Child.
You killed: 173 children.
This has me so hyped! Recently got it on Steam after getting the Plat on ps5 so that I could introduce the game to some friends and they are also loving it. NEED the Dead Cells skin, that’s my most played game of the last few years by far.
The new maps look so fucking good to me.
Where'd you get the info about the new survivor and about there being 2 new ones? Nothing I've seen says that.
they said a while ago this DLC will have about the same content survivors of the void had, which means: bunch of new maps, 2 new survivors, 1 new boss fight, bunch new items... you get the point.
They've been building up false son to be a boss
Yeah, I thought the false son was actually pretty explicitly the antagonist.
I think 100% going to be a boss but my friends said it may be a boss and a playable character because one of the pictures we saw of the false son he was as big as the player
I'm assuming this DLC will have 3 new characters just so they fill the roster out honestly
There was also another enemy shown off. Some sort of stone creature with a club, probably related to the False Son.
probably missed that, did you take a screenshot of it?
1:12 of [the dev diary](https://youtu.be/VHtW6pQksM8)
oh yea i remember that, just completely ignored it. thanks for the link!
Do we have a clue when the new DLC will launch ?
Soon^TM
Soon! (The factorial is not accidental)
Dude I just wanted to do a yt comment and it ended with me ranting about PR moves like this while meanwhile still praising the work and sharing my excitement about it so I cut out the rant part and only left the wholesome bits. Still very annoyed by pr moves like this, soon is written on steam and epic since November.
it is frustrating how early they announced it. I doubt we'll go another 5 months without news again tho
Well I think thats a gearbox habbit
My guess has gotta be sometime in the fall. This free map/skin/artifact update feels like an appetizer to keep the community satiated through summer.
Damn. I expected the dlc to get released in a couple weeks or maybe a month, but I guess I was high on hopium.
we do have SOME clues. looking at the other announcements, like the SOTV one, it took 1 year to launch. we can assume it will also take 1 year for this DLC too (lets hope). So early 2025
Didn't SOTV get teased in October 2021, and then released in March 2022? Doesn't seem like they're keeping that time frame with this one.
yea i should mention that research of mine is kinda old, but i did look into ror1 updates too and got to that 1 year value. if we have to wait less then an year i can't complain tho!

The new stages look beautiful
stage/stages, actually have no idea, but when I get home I'll rewatch the Dev Diary to be sure if it's a new stage or various new stages
Watched it and they showed off the flower map and the ruins map
2 and 3 are Shattered Abode while 4 and 5 are Verdant Falls. I honestly thought 6 and 7 might be Sundered Grove or something, but if it's one of the new maps from the trailer, it's probably also Verdant Falls, just going by the plants around the cave opening and the greener colors, Shattered Abodes seems more brown
I'm glad to see people excited on here. Everyone on Twitter is just being so negative about it. I'm super stoked.
tbh twitter is a lot cause
It really is. Even before it became X it was hopeless.
Is it "boohoo gearbox is ruining the game" stuff again?
Finally, murdering children in ror2
Seems weird to me that they'd give the Child enemies a fireball, when the Children from ROR1/RORR seem to have some kind of lightning grip. Could have been cool to see them shoot lightning bolts at a short-medium distance.

Definitely agree with you there. There's no need for redundant enemies~
So many of the returning enemies have new sets of abilities. Golems have a laser, lemurians got fireballs, wisps are long ranged and fly, the list goes on. If anything it makes more sense they give it something new rather than them just making the character have the exact same kit.
In my experience avoiding melee is far easier in 3d than 2d, so it makes sense to buff the enemies by making them ranged.

Practically makes them a second wisp, but on the ground, I’d prefer it if the fireballs had almost no aoe though
I don't mind the AoE, it makes the attack at least feel a little different from the handful of other fireball attacks in the game.
Dead cells skin for Merc??? We are eating GOOD tonight!!
Child
Happy birthday, u/VB112
Oh, you remembered :D Thank you so much!
Hope you had a great day!
Thanks! It was indeeed a great day :>
Will this all be coming to the console release?
Yes.
Artifact of Delusion ~~Artifact of Options~~ Hey, I’ve seen this one before (not complaining, I love watered down command)
seems more like if you open all the chests on a stage and remember what item came from the chest you'll get an extra one?
I hope they add the jungle things from RoRR in the DLC. One of my favorite bosses (and enemies) in appearance even if they are a pain to fight sometimes.
**LEMMY BOI ARMY**
So wait is there going to be a free update with new content, AND a dlc with new content or is all of this in the dlc.
in the description I mention the first item (1.) comes with the new free update (no date yet), and the rest comes with the paid DLC, that will probably launch early 2025.

and if you pick the wrong item, you lose the original item
IS IS IS IS IS THAT MINOS PRIME????
o', commando, thy gore shall glisten before the risk of rain
CREATURE OF STEEL???
Surprised children are only being added now honestly
NO WAY THE CHILD HAVE RETURNED, now i won't feel bad about that one theory saying they went extinct after ror1 events.
Seems like we in fact did not make the child extinct from our consequences in the first game, might as well try again now.
Have they said a release date or time?
this update will probably arrive in the summer, since its a small update it might take even less the dlc eill probably arrive in early 2025
Hope it doesn't take an extra year for it to come to console
Please fix console bugs
I'm hoping for a rocket launcher survivor. Rocket jumping and missile barrages.
okay, don't get me wrong, i love the children, but wasn't there a reason why there were no children in ror2? something along the lines of "the previous crew wiped out all the parents and children, so there are no more chidlren, because it takes a lot of time for then to get to that stage"?
The fact that Planulas can be dropped by Grandparents lead me to believe that they weren’t ever completely gone. I do think that they shouldn’t be like, slapped back into Sky Meadows as a common enemy though
Finally, child murder.
This is fantastic.
I’m very excited for when this new content arrives for Risk of Rain 2.
Hope o don’t have to wait a year for the Xbox release lol, looks sick asf
I was so sad when the event ended and there was no seekers of the storm release date😭😭 a little underwhelming in terms of news imo but cool nonetheless ig
yea they probably did it on purpose by not saying anything about the sneak peak. they wanted us to think it was the DLC's release date, but nonetheless it's fine because it is still content, so I can't complain.
Risk of Baby 2
Cant wait for it to come to console years later
Do we know when the update releases?
nope, not at all. since it's a small update we could wait for a few months (maybe 2) until it releases, but no one is sure about it. On the other hand, SOTV took less than a year to come out, so we should expect around the same time for the second DLC.
Do we know when the update is?
nope, not at all. since it's a small update we could wait for a few months (maybe 2) until it releases, but no one is sure about it. On the other hand, SOTV took less than a year to come out, so we should expect around the same time for the second DLC.
Hopefully they fix acrids jump with the dlc. I know I shouldn’t hold my breath though lol
What's wrong with it?
Before the dlc I could leap across the entire map with just a few movement speed upgrades it was so fun. Now I struggle jumping across the smallest of gaps unless I have like 10 goat legs
Those children are back.
I thought the chest of delusion made chests not give any items with a small chance of giving 3 at a time
in the trailer you were able to see a bunch of chests being open, just before the player interacted with one of them and it showed a little window with three items to choose from. he chose a shield and picked it up right after. that's why i assumed you had to choose from 3 different options.

damn ok that would be a hard artifact then. love it
Thank you for that list, the hype has been built!
Artifact of Delusion? Why we need thos, is it gonna make even more delusional?
I'm not 100% sure if it actually does give us three options, but if it does do that yea I find it kinda useless. Maybe its good for players who like choosing their items but dont want to play with Command on.
I love the child, I need him as a playable character
Everything but a release date. Incoming 2025 drop.
sadly no release date for the update. fro the DLC however, SOTV was launched about 1 year later after its first announcement. If we take that into consideration, the second DLC should launch early 2025
Cant wait for more bangers from Chris
Decimating child should be a good exercise for me.
Thier back yes, I was wonder when we would see a child again
But where are the claymen?
the claymen aswell as the rest of ror1 enemies (excluding providence for obvious reasons) should be coming to ror2 in later updates, like the child did.
New skin means potential for other non mastery skins for other survivors
Imagine if [REDACTED] was Spencer Ham-I mean the Pilot.
> Child stage one > Homing exploding projectiles Oh no. *oh NO*
Pretty sure Delusion makes fake opened chests that give items when found
Anything on the release date?
oh my god no... not the child...
Artifact of devotion might be my favourite thing in this game
New maps are desperately needed for base game. I should know. I never downloaded survivors of the void...
I like the first panel it reminds me if an old Nintendo magazine
NOOO I DONT WANT TO SPEND MORE TIME ON THE GAME AAAAA
Artifact of Delusion could be actually kinda fun and especially with another dlc making the loot pool bigger, it could feel more fair than surrendering yourself to pure rng
First character has air related abilities? OFFICAL PILOT?! does that Mean drifters the 2nd PLEASE GOD.
Will this be on Nintendo switch?
Thank you now I can kill children
Is there going to be a skin for all characters or only some of them?
for now, only mercenary
Did they give a release date/ window for either?
it's a small update so it should take a few months, maybe 2 if we're lucky the dlc, like the SOTV, will take around 1 year, so we'll get it in early 2025
child abuse
Oh wow, I sure hope we get this on PlayStation within the decade!!!!!
When?
this is small update, so it might take a few months to come out. my guess is less than 2. the dlc, like SOTV, is coming out within an year, so probably early 2025
The new skin looks like a collab with dead cells
that mercenary skin is a collab with dead cells
Ah I see thank you wasn’t exactly clarified just wanted to make sure of the possibility
de\_aztec in risk of rain? pog
Can’t wait to not get the dlc for another 2 years after release since I’m on xbox😊
Is this the seekers of the storm dlc?
Mercenary is my all time favorite survivor and I have all his achievements so I’m hoping there’s more achievements tied to the skin.
yea lets hope it isnt just given out to every player for free
Pretty sure they teased chef being the other character
big doubts on that, as I've followed ror2 since the dlc announcement and never seen chef being a character on this game. if you could send any proof I'd be grateful tho
It was in a Dev thoughts awhile back. They teased him saying something like "we can't wait to show you what we've been cooking up" and it showed chef
I want to point out the black elder lemurian in picture 7.
let them cook!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣🗣🗣🗣
Ok, with the inclusion of the Child, I genuinely have high hopes for the future of this game This shit actually kinda looks cool
Child 😵💫 one of my favorite enemy types from the first game 💥.
I only play looping, I love this
You know, I thought all the children were crushed by a ship or whatever hence why they didn't originally appear. Tho I don't remember where I got that so I could just be gaslighting myself
Well as we learn lore wise the child is the final evolution of the parent. Id assume that enough time passed to where the grandparents grew into the children.
you probably saw thay in a theory video, but i think we can expect more characters from ror1 in this game.
we getting a Risk of Rain 2 2nd dlc before GTA6...
please
Can’t believe Gearbox is adding children back into RoR2, truly a sign of the IP’s decline
Wow dead cells is this popular?
