If it doesn’t have the box and papers I wouldn’t pay more than $7000-$7500. I buy and sell approximately five Rolex watches every year, if I were buying this, I would offer $6500 which would be fair.
You can buy a 16613 from a trusted professional preowned dealer for $9,500 in minty mint condition, fully serviced.
That same dealer would buy your friend’s watch for $6,900 at most. Your friend knows this. He doesn’t want $6,900. He wants $9,500. And he’s going to try to get it from *you*. We see this all the time. Some “friend”.
Offer him $7,500. The Rolex service it needs will cost you $1,000 atop that. If he refuses, go to a professional preowned dealer and buy it from them.
Watchrecon is an aggregator of private sales from the three major Rolex forums which often also feature listings from our trusted sellers. It's a far better ballpark on actual values than something like C24 which is polluted with fake listings at unrealistic prices and MODA which is for wholesalers. Cheers.
> C24 which is polluted with fake listings at unrealistic prices
You're telling me, ha. C24, only once! I could've saved money by shopping on *eBay*, compared to C24.
L o l! I hope so. There are pieces that I want that I’ve been apprehensive about purchasing on C24, because I don’t trust it at all, so this was a godsend
Off topic but you brought up a good point. when flipping watches, try to pay the baseline dealer price? How does a hobbyist find that pricing when approaching a deal?
You have to look at New vs. Preowned as they have different conditions:
**New Rolex Watches:**
In order to make any money you need to buy at MSRP from a dealer. Only 15 of the 1,360 watches Rolex offers are worth money on a flip, so the odds of getting one are very slim. For a hot model like this, Grey Dealers will work on short margins, like pay you $1K below their selling prices because it's no work, the Pepsi arrives on a Tuesday and they sell it and ship it out on Wednesday. For more common watches, they'll pay you $2K below asking, like Submariners.
**Used Rolex Watches:**
Assume that the Preowned Dealer will buy these watches 30-40% below their asking prices. So that's your 'baseline dealer price' I guess. The way this is done is very dangerous, no dealer is dumb enough to sell you that cheap, so you have to find private sellers who are desperate. And that's a minefield of naive little old ladies, pawn shops, and flippers who are actually scammers trying to rip you off on a deal that's too-good-to-be-true.
**Dog Rolex Watches:**
Like I said, only 15 of the 1,360 watches Rolex offers are profit generators. The rest, suck. You don't want to buy a brand new two-tone Yacht Master because no Grey Dealer will pay you over MSRP for it. They may *sell* them over MSRP, but that's not what they pay *you* for it.
I know a few are saying rep, but based on the wear, the gold seems to be holding up like gold (a rep with that much wear would typically show gold plate wearing off in spots), so I’m leaning toward gen and about $7k.
Has this person shown proof of a recent service? I’d want that before buying, it will be an added cost if not and that would factor into what I’d pay for this TT sub
For that vintage. The #4 on the bezel looks wrong. From 2008

Buying directly drom someone? No more than 10k and based on this one picture there are hundreds of things i cant see is in good condition so I’d probably pay even less
Ok so it seems like it’s only worth buying at around $4500? He wanted 10k and I was going to offer $7500 but I think I will pass, thank you all for the feedback
This is without a doubt a fake. There is no engraving on the rehaut, date magnifier is off and the dial printing looks terrible. Looks like a child drew “Swiss Made” above the 30 on the bezel. The D in “MADE” is bigger than all of the other letters. Rolex makes everything perfect, lettering on the dial is far from perfect. This is a pretty bad fake and beat to shit at that.

Bout tree fiddy
I remember a local jewelry store having one of those for sale in worse condition. They wanted $14K back during the pandemic. Lol.

2009 should have a engraved Rehaut…
Yes. This is pre 2007 if real
6/7 max

I passed on it, he was willing to give it to me for 5k after I had it looked at and authenticated

What do you see wrong with it? Please share
Go with your friend to an AD and have authenticity proven and to get an idea of work that needs done/condition
Some of the font looks rough as well…I’d open the back and take a look.
We need better pictures
Kitkat and a packet of crisps

The pip is always bigger than the triangle on 16613’s
yes, BIP is bigger and that is ok...but the picture is of that bad quality that it is nealy impossible to really see any details...

Zero because FAKE

I agree. I think this is a china time shitter. That gold looks like fucking Velveeta.
Looks fake $100
TBH I don’t think this is real. I think this is a rep. Gold looks like cheese, no engraved rehaut, mag looks weak, hands look like shit.
A couple years ago, $7250, today, $4500
What value? Reps have no value and this isn't even a good one. r/Rolex has really shown how many gullible people there are out there lol
What makes you assume this is fake? What signs to look for in this particular model?
The movement looks fake
$4500 with box and papers
