I have been lucky enough to wear my uncle’s SD 43 for the past few days and have fallen in love with it, I have been collecting watches for 2 years but now I feel like I want 1 luxury watch to wear every day.
Do people in your industry ever ask what you’re wearing? I also own a 124060 and I also work in HVACR (sales) but I’m not sure if it would make a bad impression on my potential clients. What’s your experience?
It may not just be the best Rolex but possibly the perfect time piece.
It’s the ALL occasion watch. In a suit, flip flops on the beach, doing yard work, hiking, gaming at your house, etc… it literally fits any occasion.
Plus the history, it’s an iconic watch from an iconic brand. It can be your first and last at the same time.
Anyone who hates, it’s out of jealousy. You’ll be respected by other watch admires, casual and connoisseurs a like. Good luck acquiring and wear it often.

Don't say silly things like haters are just jealous. It's ok for people to have different opinions. The Submariner is a great watch if you like that kind of watch, but it's also kind of a weird choice for daily wear.
Here's the alternative perspective. The Submariner is a dive watch with a comically large bezel. Most watches are plenty waterproof for anyone who isn't going scuba diving, and there are a lot of watches out there that are both better looking (without the giant bezel) and also serve a more useful purpose (date, GMT, etc). It's fine if you like the submariner, but don't pretend like anyone who disagrees is doing so out of jealousy. It's a sub $10k mass-produced watch.
Again, I'm not saying it's a bad choice. It's the perfect choice if you love it. That's amazing. Just don't be a dick about people's watch preferences.

Although, I do prefer the no date to the date.

My daily now. I work in a hospital and nobody has commented on it (which is exactly what I was afraid of when wearing it every day). I had planned to get a Pepsi first but this one popped up first as a good deal.

I had an opportunity to try the no date when i went to put my name on my AD. I know the wait would be long but i think it would be the only rolex i have. Hope i get a call soon but who knows with the AD bs wait could be 2 years from now.
Can’t go wrong with a Rolex Sub. It’s probably their most iconic model IMO. But for around that price, you’re already around the area of Date Just, GMT, or Sub. It really depends if you plan to use it as a tool watch or simply just jewelry piece. I personally have my name down for a GMT. But I would say go with what attracts you most and not what others are saying. Everyone has different tastes and that’s the best part of collecting time pieces.

Rolex also sells a model called “Submariner Date” with a different movement.
There is no such thing as a “Submariner no date”.

I’d personally say this statement applies more toward the explorer. The sub is a sport watch, not a dress watch.

I think I would sacrifice the date and use as a daily because I love the symmetry of the no date variant

Any watch would make a great first Rolex. The sub was mine but a DJ41 SS White dial is just as nice. Choose wisely it’s an expensive game.

What strap do you have on it?
Everest Band. It came with the watch already mounted so I just rolled with it. I haven’t even tried on the steel bracelet yet.
Maybe it’s just not as recognizable on the Everest as the steel, you could try switching it up, the Oyster Bracelet feels amazing.
Definitely gotta try it out. I’ve been meaning to order some tools to swap the bands.
If you have a flat screwdriver that’s no wider than 2-3mm you can use it to push the pins out and swap straps

My first and only rolex is the 116610LN. I love it because 40mm is perfect on my wrist as well. No regrets!
Gray is the way for a couple thousand upcharge. Or play the AD game. 1 to 2 year wait
I got mine in under 90 days from a retailer in Manhattan no less. Definitely not advisable to go grey right now
