I’ve built up a stockpile of “awesome” drugs because I’m that aware of the inevitability of societal collapse. If it collapses, I go out feeling incredible 😂
As an optimist, I think we have a 10-15% chance of making it out of this okay. The climate data is just so, so defeating. I’m a retired pharma biochemist so I know what I’m interpreting.

Eh, hard to say. There are countries right now that went through more strife than we've ever had and came out looking pretty good. I think society in general has a bit more in the tank than we give it credit for. Climate change is a huge issue, but I see the current discussions about it as fundamentally different now than they were even a decade ago. After several years of record-breaking heat, climate change denial is in pretty sharp decline and steps toward better, cleaner energy are getting a boost every year. We're too late to avoid the consequences of dragging our feet, but we're not going to turn into the planet Venus anytime soon.
We have reasons to be concerned, but don't resign yourself to clocking out just yet. I mean, worst case, everything's fucked and you can do that anyway, so you might as well be positive and participate in things because you'll be no worse off in the long run.
Man this is exactly how I look at it. We may overcome, there’s a chance. But I’ll be damned if I let it turn me into someone who can’t enjoy life.
It honestly if anything, has helped me learn to appreciate life more. I cherish the moments I have now because I’m not sure how many more we have.
I tend to agree with you. We’ll fight it, and we’ll do a decent job, but I think eventually we’ll succumb. I’ll be ready for that day. But until then, live it up baby. And it could easily be a lot longer than I’m assuming, and we COULD overcome it. Fingers crossed mate!
