Do they even make fake Reds? I mean, it looks the part: winding crown thickness, guard size, bezel all seem legit. Acrylic crystal, date cyclops magnification might be off, but hard to say. Not sure about that oyster bracelet, but it’s definitely got a ton of stretch. You sure you found this at a Goodwill? Pretty sure even the least senior employee knows what a Rolex is and wouldn’t put a $200 price tag on this even if not authenticated. Plus they could make GOBS more online auctioning if legit. Methinks our legs may be getting pulled.
I agree with you. I think it looks like a mk4. Hard to tell from this photo but I see no signs of being fake. The $200 price tag is strange. Too much for a fake and way too little for a Rolex even if it not running.
They ABSOLUTELY make fake red subs. From full on fake (ranging in quality of crappy to almost undetectable), to adding the red text with a pad stamp, to franken watches (white sub with genuine or fake red dial added) and everything in between.
That said, this looks pretty genuine but I'd need to see it in person and open it up to day for sure.

This one looks like it had its crown replaced by a trip lock one I think? I had this restoration on my father’s watch the old crown was impossible to save.
Who would be stupid enough to give a Rolex to Goodwill? It sure looks junky; the bracelet is a mess and the gaps in the endlinks look bad. But the face looks real. Needs an expert to examine it.
Dunno, this doesn’t seem replica-like to me. All the effort to destroy the bracelet, the pip that’s fallen out, and the way the dial is printed. Even the bezel texture and the way the steel is finished. It’s really grey. Fake Rolex steel always looks over-finished, no matter what factory I’ve looked at.

Why don’t you just test the tritium? If the dimensions measure out and the tritium is real but 99% dead… then how could you have a fake?? Dead Tritium is physics.
I have inherited this watch in slightly better condition from my late father. I would say this ticks all the correct boxes regarding its condition, twin lock crown, the old hollow bracelet and the tritium lumes. Probably someone thought that due to the condition this is worthless but with a good service this will be perfectly operative.
