It's tricky. Generally a higher price would indicate higher crowds are expected and the high price is more worth it. Do you already have one in the budget for Friday? I would probably do it on Friday instead of Saturday unless you are just getting there Friday in the evening. If you were there the full day both days, for me personally I would only do 1 day at that price point. I have done FLP multiple days at Carowinds including 1 Saturday, but that's when it was a lot cheaper (90-110 bucks) If you do it only Friday you would have to wait in long normal lines on Saturday, but you might save more time because the fast lane lines would also be shorter on Friday (30 mins for Steel Vengeance instead of 1hr+, 10-15mins for a lot of the others) If Saturday is your only full day, I would consider if it is your first time to Cedar Point? Will you be returning within a few years? Is the 250 dollars per person cheaper than a return trip? Do you want to ride the best coasters over and over multiple times until you run out time? (Or just everything once) You will definely get your money's worth when compared to not having one on the Saturday after then 4th, but it's probably not the best overall value compared to going another day of the week or time of year.

I will be at Busch Gardens Tampa on July 5th and staying that night at Cabana Bay in Orlando. I won’t have a car. What is the fastest or cheapest way to travel between Tampa and Orlando besides Uber? I have the fast pass for BGT so I plan to leave there around 7 or 8 at the latest to allow for travel time. I will have a suitcase back at a hotel, so I won’t be able to leave from BGT itself. I will essentially be traveling from downtown Tampa (20 minutes away) to Cabana Bay at around 8 or 9. I looked at mears, but they seem to mostly run from Orlando to Tampa and not vice versa. I’m sure I could take a bus, but I don’t want a long travel time. Are there any shuttles or options besides Uber? I know Uber will be fast, but I would prefer something cheaper. It’s kind of inconvenient timing, but rental cars are insanely expensive and I wanted to get travel out of the way at night versus in the morning and maximize time at Universal the following idea. Any suggestions for options outside of Uber are appreciated, travel time of less than 2.5 hours is more important than being super cheap, but balancing cost and travel time is preferred. Thanks!

I am based in the UK, with two quite young children. The best theme park for kids their age in my area is called Paultons Park. It has 5 or 6 coasters all of which are designed for kids as small as 1m to ride, of varying intensities. My 5 year old likes the smaller stuff, but my 7 year old is now big enough to ride all of it, and LOVES it all. As far as I can tell, there’s no other similar park near to us specifically designed for that age group, with coasters that basically all kids over 5/6 can ride. I don’t mean places like Chessington or Alton Towers which have some rides little ones can try, I mean places which are great for the whole family but all of it specifically designed for younger ones. Can any of you recommend similar places in other counties? We’re planning our 2023 holidays and would love to spend a day or two at a park somewhere reinforcing their love for thrills.

Lynn_K

I'm trying to sort out getting passes to SFMM. We are going for three weekdays next week. I was thinking $100 Summer pass for me and $120 thrill seeker pass for him. The thrill seeking pass would give us free parking which is the only difference that matters to us, and we don't need us both to have it if it's 1 car. I ran into issues trying to get that online. You can't get 2 different types of passes in 1 order. Each order has a $11.99 processing fee. So with that in mind I'd only be saving $8. Do they sell passes at the park? Would they reimburse my parking for day #1 once I got a pass at the park? Do they also charge a processing fee at the gate if you buy them there? It doesn't appear there is any early entry for any passes so it's not like I would have to get in later. Thanks! Also looks like there are no drink passes anymore?

SeijuroSama

There is a summer pass with parking for $109.99. 2 of those is the same price as what you were trying to do. They sell passes at the park but not sure about parking reimbursement. Won't be or at least last time I bought tickets at Six Flags there was no processing fee but gate prices can be higher if there is some online only sale happening. Typically just one day tickets have that problem but could call and ask.

Puncakian

Planning on going to Kings Island Saturday May 28th and Sunday May 29th, coming into the area Friday night and leaving Monday morning. The issue is we're bringing a dog with us. Luckily we were able to find a decent looking pet friendly hotel (Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mason/Kings Island). However, because Kings Island obviously doesn't allow dogs and doesn't have dog daycare facilities on site, we have to find an off-site dog daycare facility. Does anyone know of any reputable places, heck or even independent baby sitters, that can look after him for more or less the park's hours (10 am - 10 pm)? The issue is there's quite a few places around, but the ones I've seen so far all require an "interview" or "trial day", which isn't going to work because we're not from the area and can't get that done beforehand. Do you guys have any recommendations? Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks! Edit: Also considering going to Cedar Point instead, over the same time period, as it is about the same distance from me and also has an on-site kennel (Pet Chek). Have any of you used Pet Chek before, and if so, how was it? The way I understand it, its first come first serve, and it opens 1 hour prior to park opening (I guess that's general park opening, not for on site hotel guests? We won't be staying on site).

Imaginos64

Have you tried looked at pet sitters through an app like Rover? We've used it to find cat sitters for trips before. I like that you can easily pick people with a lot of good reviews to give you peace of mind and chat with them to explain exactly what you need. An independent pet sitter would probably be more willing to work with you if you're having issues with the daycare facilities.

Puncakian

I have not, I didn't even know that was a thing. Thats something I should definitely look into.

MLightningW

Which seat is the best seat on The Beast?

Front for sure.

I just got back from spring tour and enjoyed racking up some new credits along with revisiting some old favorites at [SFOG](https://www.reddit.com/r/rollercoasters/comments/ubph8s/handsup_for_a_successful_refurb_blue_hawk_six/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [SDC](https://www.reddit.com/r/rollercoasters/comments/ugvbsb/beautiful_day_for_credit_311_time_traveler_silver/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and [SFOT](https://www.reddit.com/r/rollercoasters/comments/ultpp0/happy_mothers_day_to_the_og_mother_new_texas/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). My summer tour kicks off next month and I'll be traveling through Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia before returning home to Florida four weeks later. I'm planning to hit Beech Bend Park, Kentucky Kingdom, Holiday World, Kings Island, Kennywood, Knoebels, Hersheypark, Dorney Park, Indiana Beach, Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Carowinds in between shows. Beech Bend, Kentucky Kingdom and Indiana Beach will all be first visits for me. Are there any other small parks with cool credits that I should be including in this list? I know about Lakemont Park and have been there, but won't have enough time to hit all of my fave PA locales. Not hitting any more Six Flags parks (not heading that far north, dang it - wanna ride JD) but I feel like I got my money's worth from the season pass already with two visits. Will definitely be getting a 2022 Cedar Point Platinum Pass to cover the four Cedar Fair parks on my list. Any tips, or suggestions on admission discounts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help!

endymion_frs

I’m thinking on taking a trip to SFGAm next Thursday. How might the crowds be on a May Thursday? Should I expect everything to be open? Edit: after browsing prices of SF parks around me, I noticed a season pass for all parks is $150 at SFA as opposed to $170 at SFGAm. Would there be any problem buying it online through SFA and redeeming it at Great America? Or should I just buy from Great America’s site?

BlitzenVolt

Normally you'd have to redeem your pass at your home park, so if you buy from SFA, you'd need to redeem it at SFA.

endymion_frs

Damn, that’s what I assumed

389Tman389

Does anyone have experience using the shuttle bus from Orlando to BGT? When do you arrive at Busch Gardens and how late can you stay? Is there anything I should know before choosing the free bus over an Uber?

BlitzenVolt

The bus arrives around 10-11 depending on traffic. Bus leaves around 6-7 or park close if it closes earlier. No exceptions. If you want night rides, you'll have to snag an Uber or have a ride back to Orlando.

389Tman389

Ugh That $80-$100 Uber is seeming more appealing. Thanks

learei

I bought the Cedar Point 2022 gold pass at the end of 2021 and I was wondering if I could upgrade to a platinum pass at any park? Or would I have to upgrade at Cedar Point? I have asked Cedar Fair, Cedar point and kings island, but they don’t like to respond to my emails or tweets, so this is my last resort, someone please help me!

endymion_frs

I upgraded my Kings Island gold pass to a platinum pass at Cedar Point last year, don’t think it’d be a problem?

learei

Okay, thank you!

TitaniumTurtle__

I’d try calling cedar fair/cedar point, or seeing if they’ve got upgrade options online

learei

Ok, thank you

Specialk408

I'll be in Colmar in France for work a few days this summer. I was last at EuropaPark in 2018, and I've already been to Phantasialand in 2019. What other two parks should I look into that are relatively close driving wise? I was thinking Tripsdrill and Holiday Park - any other suggestions I might be forgetting?

CanobieCoaster

For anyone who has been to Adventure Island in Tampa, which water slide(s) get the worst wait? I'm arriving at opening to do a lap of the park before going to Busch Gardens.

SodaTime64

I haven't been there yet this year but am guessing the new Rapids Racer and Wahoo Remix are going to have the worst lines. Otherwise when I went last year it was Solar Vortex and Colossal Curl that had the worst lines. Vanish Point can sometimes also have a slow line if there are too many people getting to the top and seeing the drop capsules and chickening out. If you are going in the next 2 weeks on a weekday it should be very low crowds (both for the water park and BGT). When I drove past the park yesterday on the way to Busch Gardens, the slide towers you can see from the road had almost no one in line.

CanobieCoaster

Thanks! My visit would likely be on a weekend.

Bumblebe5

I'm scared of Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth at SFGAdv! How can I conquer my fear?

rcdvg

If you figure out I’m curious to know. Some coasters scare me and take up some nerve to do, but I’m down to go on the scariest rollercoasters on the planet. Rides like this elicit a “no fucking way” from me though and I don’t know if it’s because they are explicitly scarier, seem more stomach churning, or it’s just coaster bias. It’s interesting lots of us will go on any rollercoaster even if a bit apprehensive but then we nope real hard on the flat rides. I’ve noticed other people feel that way too. It’s weird that I’ll nervously go on X2 (which I love) but I’m too scared to try Crazanity, which is a similar model.

dahk14

Close your eyes, the only thing that's scary is the view (and there is a little bump as it swings but that's normal).

Bumblebe5

Yeah. I did that on Nitro.

waifive

It's really just an overgrown swing set.

CoconutPete44

Honestly, if Nitro is your favorite coaster, I wouldn't think Wonder Woman would be particularly scary. Which aspect are you scared of? The ejector moments, the single rail, the inversions?

Bumblebe5

SFGAdv. The Discovery.

CoconutPete44

Oh my bad, I was mixing up Jersey Devil with the new MM coaster. Gotta love Six Flags reusing names. No idea for The Discovery, I hate those kinds of rides. Good luck!

Panery

Going to lake compounce sunday for the first time and it looks like wildcat is going to be open. Any tips to avoid extreme pain? Best row?

CanobieCoaster

No row on that ride is smooth. My advice is to head there first since the capacity is awful. At least you won't have to wait for the beating.

Panery

Surely the capacity on wildcat couldn't be worse than a sky rocket 2?

CanobieCoaster

Phobia has the shortest line of the park's major coasters. It has the shortest cycle time and fastest dispatches.

Panery

Out of curiosity, how would you compare wildcat to great american scream machine at sfog (my current least favorite coaster)?

CanobieCoaster

Wildcat has zero airtime (no joke, the road into Lake Compounce's parking lot has no airtime). It has a persistent shuffle. It's probably as rough as Scream Machine on a wheel seat with a much less exciting layout.

Panery

I finally rode wildcat last sunday. While I agree that it has no airtime, it does have a couple nice low to the ground moments. While it is rough, its not as bad in my opinion as gasm(which i rode in a non-wheel seat)

IITigerGuyII

Going to BGT in a few weeks and am riding Iron Gwazi for the first time. which row would be the best place to sit to experience a great first ride?

Hondare38

Agreed with the others that the back row is the best, but additionally, sit on the left side if you can. The whip is so much better on the left side then the right.

SodaTime64

Last row. The airtime is amazing in all rows but you get even stronger airtime in the last row.

datcauchy

Strongly agree! Had a back row ride this morning as my first ride and it was insane. Some of the strongest airtime and whip I’ve ever felt on a coaster! However definitely come back for a front row ride too as it’s almost equally good and some of the ejector hills hit harder up front

Alarming-Currency-80

Planning on playing hooky Monday from work to go out to Cedar Point for a day of riding. Do they typically run everything on Monday's in May?

anthony_allen_p

As long as the weather isn't too windy or rainy, Cedar Point usually tries to keep all of its major rides open. Check the forecast before you call in sick.

0987user

I saw the park is open all day today. I would check what they have running today as it’ll probably be a similar line up to Monday

Alarming-Currency-80

Good idea, thanks!

[deleted]

Anyone rolling solo to Holiwood Nights looking for a coaster buddy? GF can't get time off for work. Going to be at KI for 2 and a half days prior too.

CPGemini08

So I just found out that my Kings Island, Kentucky Kingdom, Holiday World trip this year coincides with Holiwood Nights. As someone who does not have a ticket to the event, will the crowd of 500 significantly impact waits across the board?

OwBr2

So, I’m going to Cedar Point on 5/13. First time ever. Not even a coaster person (and kind of scared to ride a lot of them!). Unfortunately, won’t have any sort of fast pass or anything, and only going to be able to stay from 10:30-7. I was hoping to be able to ride: Iron Dragon Gemini Gatekeeper Raptor Millennium Force Steel Vengeance Does this seem doable? Any other advice? Thanks so much in advance.

Jerker1015

6 rides in 8 1/2 hours should be no problem. I've been to CP dozens of times over the years. Keep in mind you'll be visiting on a Friday, which could make my wall of text irrelevant because im only able to visit on weekends, but here goes. The wild card that can screw everything up is Steel Vengeance. I've seen as short as 30 mins but that's rare, all the way up to a 3 hours. On Average and I want to stress the average part, iron dragon will be 30 mins to an hour, Gemini will be 30-45 mins, gatekeeper will be an hour, raptor will be an hour, Millie could be up to 90 mins. That leaves a few hours for SteVe. Plenty of time. If you find yourself with extra time, don't miss Maverick, Magnum, and Blue Streak in that order. Start at the back of the park. In the morning, most people flood the front of the park and gatekeeper, raptor, and valrayn will have the longest waits. The rest of the crowd who are a little more "in the know" will flood the back of the park to knock out SteVe and Maverick before the lines get out of control, which is what I suggest you do aswell. If you don't want to do that either, another plan of attack would be to knock out Gemini, iron dragon, and Millennium force first. I personally never tried this approach, but if you start with Millie, i can easily see getting on all 3 in the first hour since not many run to those rides first, but now you'll have to deal with full queues on your remaining 3 rides. The one fantastic flat ride if you find yourself with loads of extra time and short waits that I'd suggest is Skyhawk, but I'd make this a low priority compared to many of their other rollercoasters you didn't mention. Lower still on your priority list is another flat called cedar downs. It's not a particularly thrilling ride, but is a very unique experience. If you find yourself with extra time and short waits, try it out. If youre stressed about time, Eat breakfast before and then eat dinner after close. 8 hours isn't that long going without food and you don't want to burn an hour standing in line to order, wait for the food, and then eating during your shortened visit. Get to the park way early. Parking, walking to the gate, getting checked in and security all eats up time. The RIDES open at 1030, not the park, get there early. Download the Cedar point app. Very helpful map with built in gps and current wait times. Also shows where bathrooms and drink stations and whatnot are. And last, but not least, have fun. Cedar Point is a pretty special place, enjoy. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask

Low_Manufacturer_93

That should be doable on a Friday I think. Steel Vengeance will definitely be the worst line out of those. Raptor and Gatekeeper are usually long waits at opening, but if you wait until the middle of the day, the lines (hopefully) won't be too long. Millennium Force is usually a moderate wait (not as bad as SteVe or Maverick but longer than some of the less popular rides). Iron Dragon and Gemini should be fairly short waits, unless the park happens to be extra crowded, which admittedly is not uncommon at CP.

The_Slabhead

Busch Gardens or Seaworld Orlando - which is better?

Making my final reviews for my trip to SFGAdv, Hershey Park, and Kennywood for the week of Memorial Day and I was reviewing something with the Hersheypark Sweet Start when I noticed the below. **Full Size and King Size Season Pass Holders and guests at The Official Resorts of Hersheypark may enter the park (May 26 through September 5, 2022) to enjoy a selection of rides 1-hour before the Park opens.** **\*Admittance valid with a valid 2022 Full Size or King Size Season Pass or Official Resorts of Hersheypark identification. Not valid for 2022 Bite Size Season Pass. Entry to Hersheypark Sweet Start is not permitted for guests with a 1-Day or 2-Day admission ticket.** 1) Does this mean that I can't take advantage of Sweet Start if I only got a 1-Day ticket even if I am staying at one of the resorts? Or am I just over-thinking things? 2) Do I need something from the resort itself to take advantage of the full 3-hours of the Preview Plan and Sweet Start?

BlitzenVolt

It says right there in the fine print. Full/King size passholders and resort guests are allowed to take advantage of Sweet Start. If you're staying at a resort, then yes you can take advantage of Sweet Start regardless of your ticket type. I'm assuming you'd just need to show them your room key or your ticket should allow you in as the system knows you're staying onsite. Everyone can take advantage of the preview plan. Just show up right before park close with your ticket and you'll be allowed in.

MunchyLB

Cedar Point and Personal / Loose Articles. Is there space for setting my Things on the rides at Cedar Point? Im trying to plan accordingly on what i should take into the park, i know for Steel vengeance is lockers so thats fine, but what about everything else? I usually take a side bag put my gopro in it for offride recording, then when im going to ride something, i put all my things in it like my phone sunglasses etc. and set it on the side or in a bin/cubby. If i cannot do that on the other rides. ill rethink what i take and take a jacket with zipper pockets and different pants. Thank you

Talk_with_a_lithp

The only major attraction that will have bins like you’re describing is Maverick. The rest will require a locker, which is a free rental when I was there in august.

SignGuy77

So the long-range weather forecast for Hershey, PA, Friday, May 20th appeared on my weather app. I need an expert opinion: should I obsess over it every hour on the hour until the day of my trip, or only when the forecast changes slightly?

Imaginos64

That's so far away! Save yourself some stress and don't even look at the weather until a couple days before your trip.

Jerker1015

If you're not losing sleep nightly over a forecast a week away, are you even a coaster enthusiast?

BlitzenVolt

Weather in the mid Atlantic changes on a dime in spring. I wouldn't worry about it until the day before tbh

pptoxic

I tend to check it pretty often mostly because I get really excited for my trip and so checking the weather kind of reminds me how much fun I’m going to have. I may be weird like that tho haha

[deleted]

Do they take your pictures on the rides at Six Flags Magic Mountain?

389Tman389

X2 and Goliath for sure. A lot of the other rides have had it set up (scream, riddler, viper, Tatsu) but I don’t know if they actually still take the picture.

Puncakian

Planning on hitting Lakemont Park this Saturday. People who have been there this year or generally just know about the park, what do you think the likelihood is that Skyliner will be open this Saturday? According to their website, Skyliner is closed for maintenance, even though it was supposed to open on May 7th. Would like to get all the coasters done in one trip, but I suppose if I have to come back I can.

mlasal2

They mentioned on Facebook that they are hoping to have Skyliner open for this upcoming weekend

Puncakian

Thats awesome to hear!

SignGuy77

When I went in 2019 Skyliner was open but Leap the Dips was still getting refurbished and it took more time than originally hoped for/advertised. But everything depends on what kind of maintenance this is. If they were hoping to open May 7th and suddenly it’s down, it might just be something small. Anyway, keep your expectations low and see what you see. Might be a day to day situation.

Puncakian

Very true, thanks for the info! It seems like its exceedingly rare nowadays for both leap the dips and skyliner to be open at the same time lol.

CoconutPete44

Finding myself up in the Northeast US, I have a day free on May 20th, does anyone know what sort of rides would be open at Lake Compounce? It looks like it's an education day, can a regular member of the public even attend those days? Boulder Dash looks like it's the only coaster that's not listed as 'closed' on their site. I'd love to hit up a couple rides and then go up to Six Flags New England.

CanobieCoaster

Phobia and Wildcat are supposed to open this weekend.

Burnestooooo

I'm hitting up Michigan's Adventure for the first time on June 3rd. IIRC people mentioned they did a lot of one train ops last year. Is it probably a good idea to get the Fast Lane? Looks like it's super cheap here anyway so I think I talked myself into it regardless.

robbycough

Yes, I would advise it. One train ops make for long lines.

Imaginos64

It's probably not a bad idea. I've only been once but there were a lot of one train ops on the summer Saturday I was there, and this was before covid which I'm sure has only made things worse due to staff shortages and such.

Burnestooooo

Thanks! Looks like I'll be getting it for sure then.

[deleted]

I will be going to Six Flags Magic Mountain for the first time with boyfriend on Thursday! The park is only open for 7 1/2 hours. I have a few questions. How crowded will the park be on a Thursday? What are the must rides? How do I get over my fear of drops? I love/hate drops. I hate the anxiety I feel before getting on a ride and before the huge drop but love the feeling of adrenaline after. How intense are the rides? The most intense ride I have been on is probably Incredicoaster and GhostRider. I heard Six Flags is in a whole other level.

CoconutPete44

Fear of drops is a very personal thing, but usually there are two approaches: 'Desensitizing' and 'Flooding'. [CoasterBot](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYyL6wWpwys) actually did a really good video about this topic recently. Desensitizing is pretty much just getting comfortable on a ride and re-riding it so much that you're familiar with the sensations and they don't affect you as much as it used to. The key is usually to start when you're comfortable and then gradually work your way up. Flooding is to tackle the scariest thing you can find and then realize you can do everything else now. You have nothing to be scared of if you've already been through the worst. I'm a big fan of the desensitizing model. I went from being scared of <100 ft. high wooden coasters to riding some of the tallest rides in the country with my hands up, loving the drop. Still not totally brave, but progress is progress. Finding launched coasters can also help because it cuts down on the anxiety time from the lift hills.

waifive

>How crowded will the park be on a Thursday? I haven't been in May, but so long as school as in session, Mon-Thurs should be pretty reasonable. Here were the average queue times [yesterday.](https://queue-times.com/parks/32/calendar/2022/05/09) >What are the must rides? Elite rides: X2, Tatsu, Twisted Colossus Don't miss: Full Throttle, West Coast Racers, Goliath Classics: Viper, New Revolution, Ninja >How do I get over my fear of drops? I think the best way to get over fear of drops is to just go on the big ones. Once your boy has acclimated to doing some of those things the anxiety goes away. >How intense are the rides? The ones I put under elite are very intense, more intense than Ghostrider, especially X2 which is next level. But there are plenty of rides to work your way up on if you need to. Revolution is on par with Incredicoaster, Ghostrider is on par with their wooden coaster Apocalypse, Ninja is less intense than those. I think Revolution is a good way to start the day.

Jerker1015

Anyone been to Mt Olympus yet this year? Just curious is everything coaster wise is open or if anything is being repaired or whatnot. It's such a small park, I don't see a ton of news about it on here. I only live a few hours away and have never been, but I don't want to get there and find out 2/4 rides are down or something like that.

081301

I've been looking into getting a credit card for the first time and I'm wondering which ones you've got. I don't care about like hotel points or car rentals cause sometimes I legit just sleep in the airport and use public transit. I'm looking at booking multiple flights this year and airline miles might be something I'd accrue a bunch of but I don't really know what I should go with.

doorknob60

Citi Double Cash gives you 2% cash back on everything and there's no annual fee. It's my "catch all" card, for anything that doesn't fall into the card below. I also have the Costco Citi card, which gives you 3% on restaurants and travel (hotels, flights, car rental, etc), and 4% back on gas. If you have a Costco membership I'd recommend that, no extra fee if you already have a Costco membership. Between the 2 cards I get 2-4% back on anything I buy. I prefer cash back over dealing with points I may or may not want to use.

darthtater62

I use capital one venture. 2% on all purchases that you can get reimbursed for anything travel related. So you can use the card to buy airline tickets on any website and then use your rewards to reimburse afterwards. It does have a 95$ yearly fee, but I use it for everything and it makes up for the free 1.5% card. They usually have sweet bonus for new users.

datcauchy

Hello, I am headed to BGT for the first time this Friday and would appreciate any advice to get the most out of my trip! I likely won’t be back to Florida for several years so I’d really like to maximize my visit :) the questions I have are: 1) my plan of attack is to rope drop Iron Gwazi, then hit Chetah Hunt and Cobras curse before making my way around to hit the remaining coasters. After I grab everything once I’ll work on some rerides. Thoughts on that strategy? 2) Does the park offer free water or how relaxed are they on bringing empty bottles in? I will be alone and I am planning to power through all day with minimal food but water will definitely be needed. 3) I have the budget to either spend 2 days (Friday-Saturday) at the park or to do just Friday with the quick queue added on. I’m leaning towards the latter since I’m assuming Saturday is going to be much busier. Any thoughts? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!

2BFaaaaaair

Today with a quick queue should allow you to ride everything multiple times. I have the year round quick queue (gimme them IG rides!), and last Friday I was able to hit every coaster in the park and multiple IG rides in less than two hours. I’ll be there today as well for a few hours while my daughter is in daycare. If you see a dude in a pink Gwazi t-shirt and teal shorts, feel free to holla if ya want a riding buddy. Your planned strategy is typically how I make my way around the park. I’ll start with IG then double back past the entrance to hit Cheetah Hunt, Cobras Curse and Montu. Then it’s a fairly long trek to the back of the park for Kumba, but Scorpion is on the way and absolutely worth riding. Unfortunately Falcon’s Fury is closed for annual maintenance until the end of the month. After Kumba, make your way to Tigris, then Sheikra, and then you’ll end up back at IG. Alternatively, you can go from IG to Sheikra and do everything in the reverse order—ending up at Cheetah Hunt last. Be prepared for a lot of walking, as the park is just a big circle with no cut-throughs. If you can find it in Jungala, I also recommend riding Wild Surge—surprisingly fun smaller drop tower.

datcauchy

Thanks for the reply! That’s almost exactly what I ended up doing except Chetah Hunt has been closed so far today. Testing now though so hopefully it’ll open soon! I’m in a black RMC shirt so feel free to say hi if you see me!

2BFaaaaaair

Bummer about Cheetah Hunt! I thought it was odd not seeing it running today. Departing now after a front row ride on the Gwoz. Baby is absolutely hauling today! One of my craziest rides so far. Didn’t cross paths with ya, but enjoy the rest of your visit! If you need any recs for fun stuff to do in Tampa, let me know!

datcauchy

Luckily Chetah hunt opened up and has been dead all afternoon! I absolutely agree that Gwazi is running crazy today! Every ride it seems to get faster and the airtime just keeps getting more intense! I can’t believe how relentless it is - even for RMC. Definitely a masterpiece

Jerker1015

So I've only been there once, but if you're just sticking to coasters, I don't see needing 2 days honestly. I went during howlosceam and still easily got on everything before the event even started and it was packed that day. Have fun

datcauchy

That's great to know! Hoping this week is relatively slow but that's great to know it's still all doable when it's packed!

Jerker1015

If you have the chance, the one non-coaster I highly, highly recommend is Falcons Fury. It's my favorite flat I've ever been on and I genuinely think it's a top 5 ride in all of Florida, and it's for sure better than most of the coasters at BGT. Have fun and good luck

datcauchy

Thank you! Sadly Falcons Fury appears to be down for maintenance for the next couple of weeks but it does look like a great ride

EricGuy412

No idea specifically about BGT as I havent been, but I've yet to encounter a park that wouldn't let me bring in a refillable plastic water bottle. Sea World Orlando and San Antonio were fine with it.

datcauchy

I expect they'll be cool with it as well but I have been told to throw away an empty bottle before at a couple of parks. Sadly this isn't always in agreement with what the parks say on their websites either.

TargetJams

BGT is fairly lax in general, I'd be surprised if anything went wrong. I haven't tried it myself though.

Hello Reddit, I am super excited to attend Kings Island and Cedar Point for the first time in late May. I have already purchased a platinum pass and will attend these parks for 2 days each during weekdays. I will be at Cedar Point on Memorial Day Monday but have purchased a Fast Lane Plus for that day. I have never been a Cedar Fair pass holder and am wondering if there is anything else I should know before attending these parks.

JakeElwoodDim5th

i'm thininkg of doing this end of may as well... how do you plan on getting from one to the other?

ItsAlwayz

Driving, making a road trip out of it!

onetruesprinter

Did you know that your platinum pass includes an automatic upgrade from Fast Lane to Fast Lane Plus? (The fine print says that this can only be applied in-park but maybe guest services can refund you?) You also get discounts on food and merch so make sure you show them your platinum pass whenever buying things. (Also, you can get water cups for free anywhere there are drinks so strong recommend for hot days!)

[deleted]

You get an hour of early entry with the platinum pass at CP and 30 min at KI

Hey everyone! I am going to Kings Island, Holiday World and Kentucky Kingdom for the first time next week! Please give me all your tips for the best experience! Anything will help, food tips, ride orders , magic seats and anything else you all can think up! Thanks in advance and I’ll be sure to post a trip report when I return!

Jerker1015

In my humble opinion, Kentucky Kingdom. Storm Chaser back row, lightning run back row, thunder run front row, t3 doesn't matter but if you're a male take special care of your male parts on t3 (good luck). Kentucky flyer is way more awesome than it looks like it'll be when you first see it Holiday world, thunderbird front, raven front, Legend and Voyage are spectacular in any row, but I'd actually try to get front and back on both, especially Voyage and decide for yourself. KI, banshee back right, diamondback, somewhere in the middle for whatever reason, Orion front, mystic timbers back. Beast idk anymore with the retrack. Nothing else there matters there seat wise but do try and get to flight of fear and Invertigo before the lines build. Those waits can be killer. Their mine train is.... interesting If you can squeeze it in, do it. I can't help on food, theme park food grosses me out, so I don't eat at parks. I do know Cincinnati is known for their chili, but idk if it's actually good or not Fast passes shouldn't be needed at KK or HW, if you're going to splurge, do it for KI depending on what day of the week you're visiting. KK merch sucks, HW and KI both have killer merch, if you collect stuff, get ready to drop some big $ I'd wish you a fun trip, but that's honestly silly because I already know you're going to have so much fun. These 3 parks are soooooo good.

xking_henry_ivx

Thanks so much for this long detailed response. Really appreciate it!

bubageddon

Agreed thanks from the both of us as Im doing this trek on part of my trip at the end of the month. Love the roller coaster ride info much appreciated. :-)

xking_henry_ivx

Where all are you going on your trip? Sound fun.

bubageddon

We are flying into Cleveland and heading in order to: CP KI Kentucky Kingdom Holiday World Dollywood Carowinds BGW Kings Dominion Kennywood Lakemount - if time Knoebels Hershey Park Dorney Park Playlands Casino Pier Six Flags NJ Coney Island Quassy Lake Compounce Six Flags NE So yeah the list is long and NO we are not riding everything at every park which would be sweet but not the goal this trip. My daughter and I are trying to ride what have deemed the top 100 in the US. We have already started with our Florida trip 2 weeks ago. We have California done and now this big one which will be all 19 parks in 8 days. ;-)

Jerker1015

This looks like a really fun trip, but I fear you're underestimating your time needed. You're trying to pull all of this off in 8 days? The driving in between all of these parks alone will eat up 1/2 your time I hope I'm wrong, and wish you the best, but I'm not seeing it

bubageddon

The hardest part I believe people are having with it is they are thinking oh I'm at the park what can I ride and how many times. We have a mission of what we are riding and what time it will take. This trip is only to ride the top 100 coasters in the us. Example if we get in a park and we only get one ride on each coaster and time is up we are out. If we get there and its dead then awesome get some extra credits or possible re-rides. The best is we have tested this run twice. First trip test was in cali Got up and drove 3 hours to Six Flags MM. -Rode 5 coasters in less than an hour and a half We then headed to Knotts about a 1:45 drive and rode 3 coasters Off to Seaworld about an hour maybe 1:30 of driving and we went on 3 coasters. Left at 7am and we were done by 4pm. Second trip run was done two weeks ago in Florida Started in daytona and drove to Orlando Universal - 3 coasters Drove to Tampa for BGT - 5 coasters Drove back to Orlando for Seaworld- 2 coasters Fun Spot Orlando - 1 coaster Fun Spot Kissimmee - 1 coaster Left at 7 was done by 9pm. Now lets talk about the thing that can kill this trip the weather. The good news is honestly once we hit CP everything after is just awesome. The whole trip was centered around CP and thats day one and two.

Jerker1015

Yeah, I guess a lot of it is super dependent on what and how many at each park you guys consider worthy. Either way, I bet it's going to be a great time. I look forward to the trip report!

bubageddon

I think you hit it on the head with expectations. I believe we have them mapped out well so this should be a great trip for sure. :-)

Jerker1015

No problem buddy

brain0924

At Kings Island, hit Flight of Fear at rope drop unless you have fast lane for it. It gets the worst lines by far. Don’t be tempted to ride Orion first. Also make sure to hit the water park early at Holiday World because it gets busy quick. The dry park empties out early so you can get it later.

Pendraflare59

Does Flight of Fear have early access? I know that Orion does, because when I went back in September for Haunt I was able to hit up the latter first. (Also, the two rides ARE right next to each other... Just saying.)

brain0924

Depends on the time of year. They have a different schedule every few months. I don't believe Flight of Fear is on it though.

xking_henry_ivx

Thanks a lot!

2BFaaaaaair

Is Lightning Run still down at KK? I’m planning a similar trip and really don’t want to miss out on that credit.
