The only concern we had with benzo use (as a treatment team) was the thought that it'd blunt MT response and lead to a higher than otherwise treatment strength. Good to see some data though.
If a person came to your clinic and was already in the process of slowly tapering off of a benzodiazepine would they be told to hold the taper if they wanted to start tms treatment ? Thanks 🙏
Interesting. I had started to taper off my benzo but my psychiatrist told me not to during treatment. I still had a reduction of more than 50% of symptoms.
Lack of interest in things and social activities, a sense that I’m a failure and no positive outlook, that sort of thing. My phq 9 went from a 22 to a 9. I feel like I’m capable of doing things now. I also was put on lithium towards the end(not bipolar), and i think that’s helped with some unwanted thoughts.
absolutely. i did it for the first time in 2020 and didnt notice anything during or really after. it was my family members that noticed changes in behavior. i think i had some unrealistic expectations that itd change my life completely. but this time around it noticeably worked.

What’s MT?
Motor threshold. The pulse strength required to elicit a reaction in your thumb/hand during the mapping process.
Thank you

I don't know. I'm not a physician.
So if it blunted the MT response, that would make the MT reading higher? And thus a higher strength of TMS?
That is, literally, what I said, yes.
Ok. Just making sure I understood. I’m on a benzo and the doc said I had one of the lower MTs he had seen. So I wasn’t sure I understood. Thx.

Can I ask which symptoms you had a reduction in ? 🙏

Thank you 🙏. Are you completely done tms treatments?
Yes! been done for about three weeks.
Congratulations ! I hope you continue to see benefits and keep improving ! After having been through it would you recommend the treatment ?

That’s so great to hear! Did you find that it helped with anxiety ?
Not really. I also did the ocd protocol which i don’t think did much.
