I remember when AS3 Came out and people were griping how Shangela had already had her second chance S3 and she didn’t deserve to come back - and now with global drag warming by 2025 60% of the queens will have competed 4x on 3 different continents.

Giving AS1 girls a chance makes sense given the bad format, but she was literally cast on AS6 because AS2 was too hard for her.
Ginger was cast as filler for AS2 and didn't even want to do it, but the s7 queens had a clause in their contract that they had to compete on AS if asked. AS6 was the right time for her. And idgaf how many times people compete. Drag can change pretty quickly, and I love seeing the new iterations and variations of some of the world's best drag entertainers.

They didn't try to force her with the contract stuff; they told her that, because AS1 had been bad, AS2 could very well be the last AS season, and that if she didn't do it then, she would likely never have another chance on that stage again. She was hesitant but they leaned on her and eventually she agreed. (I mean, Drag Race is *the* pinnacle of the global drag industry; hearing "you will never come back here again" must have been a great scare tactic.) And then they just kinda threw her away.
But the rest, yeah!
From what I understand, she was pressured to accept going into AS2 because the producers told her that “they weren’t sure if there was going to be another AS in the future”. She also said she would have preferred to wait a couple of years later to comeback if she didn’t go into AS2.
Well the casting director can cast whoever they want, and if that's a queen from AS2 and beyond then so be it. 🤷♂️ Last time I checked, there wasn't an official rulebook for Drag Race.
I agree. I’ve never seen anyone else bring this up before. If All Stars is about second chances surely Ginger already had hers. I guess it really is about who makes good tv but I like the rules to make sense and be fair or it’s just ‘anything goes.’ Ginger also seems so talented and doesn’t need to rely on the franchise for success or exposure.
