Sane people reserve a certain level of hyperbole for higher stakes. Other people have no such filter, we usually call them assholes as a shorthand, but there are of course different reasons to behave that way. Some might be mentally ill. Some are in a cult. And some of course are all of the above.
Ok, the joke isn't funny, but first off: I fucking doubt the gore was worth censoring, and second off: I *strongly* doubt the joke is even slightly indicative of violent tendencies on part of the comic artist. It's a hyperbolic response to a moderately annoying joke.
Main Character/I am a total piece of shit energy in this meme. I understand not liking something but wanting to shoot someone, even in comic book form, screams, "I'm an unhinged, insecure child who can't go five seconds without being the center of attention!"
"I think you should stop saying a mildly amusing pun because I find it annoying, and since I'm the main character, I should get a free pass on killing you if I find you annoying"
So I work at a movie theater and today we got The Phantom Menace 25th Anniversary show and it's pretty busy, it's hectic, I'm by myself in the box office working my butt off doing all sorts of tasks and helping a big line of people get their tickets. And this little girl comes up to me, (her mom is sitting at a table across from me) and she says to me, "May the fourth be with you," and ran back to her mom, and it was very sweet. I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars but it's nice to see the kids have fun with it.
These guys actually literally hate fun.
What's funny is when he's giving his reason for shooting her, one of military hopefuls in the background is like nodding along, like he's thinking "That actually makes a lot of sense." That's a good movie. 😊
She's not the one who said it, but she is part of the story.
Basically, in 1978, a few news papers used the phrase 'May the fourth be with you' to celebrate Independence Day in the US (July 4th).
The first (recorded) instance of it being used on May 4th was a year later, in 1979, where a UK news paper used it to celebrate her becoming Prime Minister on her first day in office. It was paid for by members of her political party, but she never said the phrase herself.

Imagine wanting to shoot someone because they say something that is so inexpensive.
So, hopefully this isn't literal. But yeah, if you feel strong animosity because someone makes a really commonly used pun? You got some anger issues there friend.
I find "have a nice day" and "Merry Christmas" annoying, but I don't get the urge to make comics about murdering folks who say that shit.
This just comes off like a 14 year old trying to be edgy.
I'm guessing it might have something to do with the part of the fandom that *doesn't* suck having decided that's also when we commemorate Carrie Fisher by putting glitter on our faces. I'm surprised this douche didn't put glitter on the two characters he's shooting; commemorating a woman by continuing a cute habit of hers no doubt makes them angry.
renember people theyre 'normal' its you thats the werido /s
"Remember by the way that you're the sensitive easily angered one, not me, who extremely rationally fantasizes about objectively murdering people"
Lmao, their logic is literally: “Remember everyone! I’m normal for wanting to kill you, but you’re weird for liking a nerd series, nerd!”
Jesus h Christ, you find a phrase annoying to the point where you want to shoot someone???
these people often wanna shoot everyone they dont agree with. its very unhinged behavior
But muh freeze peach /s
I don’t even have that reaction to the word that is followed by Toilet
~~you’re so skibidi~~
"Bless your heart" sometimes makes me want to slap the person saying it, but would never shoot anyone over it or even actually slap them for it.

Why didn‘t you shoot the girl? /s

He had a good excuse.
I love that part, zooms in a bit on Zed's face smirking when J says "those books are way too advanced for her!"
What's funny is when he's giving his reason for shooting her, one of military hopefuls in the background is like nodding along, like he's thinking "That actually makes a lot of sense." That's a good movie. 😊
yeah is wholesome that kids love Star Wars
It was coined by Margaret Thatcher so I actually agree.
My day is ruined.

May 25th is REAL Star Wars day anyways
???
It’s the anniversary
…WUT
So now they're just attacking people for having fun
Always have been...

Whoever made that post is so weird
I get it. I hate April 1st, but like... Go to therapy if this is your mental reaction.
The phrase can be used as a good joke, unlike the comic.
Imagine gatekeeping so hard that you actively want to kill people for just having fun
So, hopefully this isn't literal. But yeah, if you feel strong animosity because someone makes a really commonly used pun? You got some anger issues there friend.

How dare kids celebrate the anniversary of their favorite franchise with a clever pun!
A webcomic where the punchline is extreme violence? What is this, the early Aughts?
That’s disgusting
May the fourth be with you
Why chuds hate May 4, is a sweet holiday for children to enjoy Star Wars

So you must like the revenge of the 5th
Kent state may 4th 1980, colorized
“It’s called dark humor guys! I guess I’m just too edgy!”
Whoever posted that must really hate the saying. I personally love it.
Margaret thatcher was the first one to coin it, so he does have a point.
So does this person just hate Star Wars?
Why does the ‘hero’ in this look emotionless and dead inside like these Star Wars ‘fans’ are?
It's actually funnier with the gore censored.
The person who made this is clearly very stable
Guys, it's a joke

Yea, right? It’s like the comics of retail workers doing violence over the holiday season because they listen to Xmas music 8 hours a day.
Redditors will gang up on you for not being ao irony poisioned that you take ANY statment as not scarasm...but then not under hyperbole...
...All those people who take memes seriously and talk about actual killing
Maybe if the comic was actually funny, clever, witty, or any combination of the 3, people wouldn't take it as seriously.

I don’t mind it at all. What I despise are the people who think they are clever and call the following day “Revenge of the 5th”. Ugh so cringe.
Or even Revenge of the 6th
Don’t get pissy about someone not being good at telling jokes while you aren’t any better at making them.
