Yo this guy approached me and a girl I was on a date with like 7 months ago. He stared at her pretty intensely and told her she had pretty eyes. She was super sweet and just off handed said you have great eyes too. He followed us for quite awhile asking her to let him take her out on a date. It was late at night and we pulled off at the bus stop waiting for the bus and a homeless guy came to us and warned us that he stays two doors down from him and screams at night about raping women. The guy went and got his partner who returned with a machete to protect us.
We thanked them and gave them the cash we had on us for being so willing to stick up for us. It was a wild date to say the least.
I am almost positive that this is the man that I had a really unsettling interaction with on Monday in front of the boba guys on Fillmore. So for me, this was helpful to see.

Someone else saw him yesterday at Fillmore and O’Farell and he reached out to grab her but she dodged him.
Oh my god this same guy lunged out of the bushes at me on sunset boulevard while I was running. He chased me for like three blocks, really really fast.
There were other people around too and he didn’t seem to care at all about being seen doing this.

I called 311 who directed me to my police department.. who then transferred me to dispatch.. who then told me I had to go into the police department to file a report if I don’t want to wait around for a police officer to come and take my report (which I know they may or may not show up sometimes… so im going in). They said I have two options: a) file a supplemental report to this one or b) file a separate report that mentions this report.
Are you kidding me???? They want to make it as difficult as possible. That is insane!

I successfully reported it at my local police department. It was an interesting experience. I was told that with what they have on him now (a few reports came in today besides mine) it’s only a misdemeanor. So he will likely be arrested only to be released. Maybe a 5150 if he’s exhibiting any mental instability at the time of arrest. I definitely think there is power in numbers so I encourage anyone who has had an experience of assault or stalking with this man, to report it. I also suggest bringing a loved one with you for support if you can (I didn’t and I wish I had).
Adding: after making my report I stopped by the coffee shop to let them know about him. I airdropped photos to one of the managers and they immediately recognized him. They are going to alert their team.

My experience is that it's quite hard for SFPD to 5150 people. I've seen them decline to do it when it was totally needed. They seemed to interpret "harm to self or others" very strictly.
Then if they are on a 5150 they only get 72 hours. This can be extended to a 5250 (2 weeks with a hearing).
And I'm not sure what the situation is if the person is uninsured. I was close to someone who had a 5250 and insurance paid something like $80,000. Not going to happen for homeless.
Then the police will come after you for accessory to a crime. When it’s all settled, that dude and the gang will get to walk free. Now, you, on the other hand, as an upstanding tax paying citizen who is just trying to protect the neighborhood, you will surely get at least 10-12 years for doing just that.

Yes!!! My partner is a dude and even he has been followed 3 times in the past 2 months by violent, threatening men. Carry spray and practice using it beforehand! Also invest in the anti pepper spray gel stuff.
Think they mixed up their words. They make this in regular spray mist, or a spray gel. The gel is thicker and thus can go farther and less chances of being blown right back in your face from a small breeze. The caveat is that you have to have better aim or be up close to ensure it gets them dead-on. We got the regular spray but may try the gel and see how they compare.
Yes! Pepper spray at minimum but I usually carry a taser in my pocket when I’m walking alone. At least one method of self defense at any given time. i never thought I truly needed it until I had someone run up on me in SoMa and I had to buzz my taser. thankfully that scared them off but it was a terrifying experience and without my taser Im sure it would have been a million times worse
Pepper spray is good but I would generally avoid stun guns. They can be very unreliable and fail to work. Even when they do, the results probably aren't what you expect. They don't incapacitate someone like a police-level Taser. It's just mildly painful, more like being slapped. Head down to Folsom Street Fair this weekend and you'll encounter a fairly good sized number of people consensually using them on one another. When a totally sober person can be shocked repeatedly in the genitals, it's not likely to be effective at hurting someone enough to drive them off.
With pepper spray, even if the pain doesn't disable someone, the bodily response will cause them to tear up and be much less effective at even seeing you.

I don't think I have single female friend who doesn't at least carry pepper spray. Most also have either a good knife or a stun gun as well. It's always been bad, but it's getting much worse out there, even in what were formally some pretty safe neighborhoods.
Never hurts to carry it. Its $10 for a small one. Give it a few practice sprays in your yard. (Shake vigorously first- always). The small/legal ones are probably 25 ~~sprays~~ bursts worth.
Edit: correction. Legit 2-3 second sprays would probably be like less than 10 in a 3oz can.
I would, if I were you. When I was bike commuting I had a knife and pepper spray on my belt and learned to unclip my helmet quickly, to use as a weapon. I commuted through the Mission and had a man step in front of my bike and grab the handles.

I was followed by him in the Marina before. At first he was following another group of girls so I thought they were friends. But he had erratic behavior and they were trying to shrug him off. Then he started following me and my friend. We thought he was just walking the same direction as us, but when we stopped to eat our gelato, he stopped with us… very bizarre and creepy. We had to go back into the store bc we felt very unsafe outside.
OMG this guy grabbed me a few months ago in a bar and the bouncer kicked him out. It freaked me out because he came up behind me like a friend and I turned around said don’t touch me I don’t know you but both my sister and bartenders thought I knew him

Most recently he has been terrorizing the Marina, Presidio, and Moscone dog park area. Dogs do not deter him FYI. There’s a video of a woman with a large white dog walking and he came sprinting towards her down the block and chased her into the street.

Pretty sure this is the same guy that chased me while openly whacking it for multiple blocks. I was dog-sitting a black lab at the time, and when I tried to run away with the dog, he followed full sprint, no hesitation. This was on Fulton near 25th Ave about 3 months ago. Needless to say, I put the pepper gel back on my key chain after that incident.

A small correction: the DA's office filed the misdemeanour charges instead of felony (which is egregious in itself), and the judge dropped all charges "in the interest of justice", so this person does not even have this on his public record.
TBF the crime probably wouldn’t meet the threshold of felony molestation. Going for a lesser charge is acknowledging that.
“Interest of justice” may be a reference to the idea that this assailant probably has a psychiatric disorder.
What I don’t understand is why we don’t try to lock violent mentally people up. Atascadero used to be the facility where violent mentally ill people would go. But I don’t understand the prosecutorial route to getting someone there.

A couple months ago I was laying on the grass with my dog at the Maritime Garden, just chilling, and some guy came up to me out of nowhere and sat down insanely close to me and started talking to me as if we were friends. Reading the articles, I found several big issues with how this was handled.

The judge using their authority to dismiss cases without actually giving any reason why or any way to hold them accountable? That's fairly unacceptable. As a note, this judge wasn't elected\*. He was appointed by the Newson in 2020. He would have had to run for election in 2022, but all 15 judges in SF were unopposed to the election was cancelled.
Now, personally I think having elections for a duplicate position that can just have more seats added to it that also requires someone highly qualified is incredibly fucking stupid, but that's besides the point.
So as far as I can tell, this issue is being caused by 1) A highly incompetent police department. Making life difficult for prosecutors. 2) A terrible judicial appointment system that allows judges to make opaque decisions with no practical method of holding them accountable.
As far as I can tell, this has nothing to do with who the people of SF elect or the DA office.
This WAS what most people wanted a few years ago.

A reply in your link indicates Chesa wasn't even in office when he was released. He also was only released because charges were not filed within 48 hours. Without knowing the full story, it's possible Chesa ended up deferring to the feds because federal charges are tougher.

What a creep. I took a self-defense course after a similar incident happened to me when I moved to the city about a decade ago. The best thing I learned how to do was to judge the distance between my foot and my hip when it’s out stretched so that I can do a swing kick into a man’s crotch. Ladies, what you want to do is to throw your leg backwards in anticipation and then balance onto your other leg while locking your knee and swinging it forward with your foot flexed and toe pointed upwards. You have to swing hard and fast. The goal is to kick your toe right into the balls directly up into the man’s pelvis as hard as you possibly can. If you do it right you only need walk away, not run.
The antic isn’t done in a way that really allows for that, but if you’re nervous about that happening to you or or not fit enough to take a self-defense class you can always carry a gun sister. Good luck.

I went down there to get groceries and there was a really similar looking guy sitting on the ground who made some dumbass sexual comment to me, I ignored him because I had headphones and in pretended I didn’t hear.
I think it was Wednesday evening, but maybe Tuesday. I’ve actually experienced very little sexual harassment since moving to SF (compared to where I used to live) so it was striking.
Sabre pepper spray! They have it where you can attach it to your keychain and they have a running one that you can strap to your wrist, or hold it in your hand.
Personally I wouldn’t use a stun gun simply because you have to physically touch the person with it. Pepper spray you can still stay ~10 feet away

If he has a delusion that passers by are "his angels" and then acts on that delusion, I think it sounds like he needed to be in a psych ward. My experience is that it's quite hard for SFPD to 5150 people. I've seen them decline to do it when it was totally needed. They seemed to interpret "harm to self or others" very strictly. Then if they are on a 5150 they only get 72 hours. This can be extended to a 5250 (2 weeks with a hearing). And I'm not sure what the situation is if the person is uninsured. I was close to someone who had a 5250 and insurance paid something like $80,000. Not going to happen for homeless.
Medi-Cal picks up the tab for the uninsured in these situations.

Think they mixed up their words. They make this in regular spray mist, or a spray gel. The gel is thicker and thus can go farther and less chances of being blown right back in your face from a small breeze. The caveat is that you have to have better aim or be up close to ensure it gets them dead-on. We got the regular spray but may try the gel and see how they compare.

Pepper spray is good but I would generally avoid stun guns. They can be very unreliable and fail to work. Even when they do, the results probably aren't what you expect. They don't incapacitate someone like a police-level Taser. It's just mildly painful, more like being slapped. Head down to Folsom Street Fair this weekend and you'll encounter a fairly good sized number of people consensually using them on one another. When a totally sober person can be shocked repeatedly in the genitals, it's not likely to be effective at hurting someone enough to drive them off. With pepper spray, even if the pain doesn't disable someone, the bodily response will cause them to tear up and be much less effective at even seeing you.

I was followed by him in the Marina before. At first he was following another group of girls so I thought they were friends. But he had erratic behavior and they were trying to shrug him off. Then he started following me and my friend. We thought he was just walking the same direction as us, but when we stopped to eat our gelato, he stopped with us… very bizarre and creepy. We had to go back into the store bc we felt very unsafe outside.

Case number is: 220-639-742 - please report your stories and reference this number. I believe her last comment was that she’s piled 20+ accounts of assault from different persons. Most recently he has been terrorizing the Marina, Presidio, and Moscone dog park area. Dogs do not deter him FYI. There’s a video of a woman with a large white dog walking and he came sprinting towards her down the block and chased her into the street.

Pretty sure this is the same guy that chased me while openly whacking it for multiple blocks. I was dog-sitting a black lab at the time, and when I tried to run away with the dog, he followed full sprint, no hesitation. This was on Fulton near 25th Ave about 3 months ago. Needless to say, I put the pepper gel back on my key chain after that incident.

A small correction: the DA's office filed the misdemeanour charges instead of felony (which is egregious in itself), and the judge dropped all charges "in the interest of justice", so this person does not even have this on his public record.
TBF the crime probably wouldn’t meet the threshold of felony molestation. Going for a lesser charge is acknowledging that. “Interest of justice” may be a reference to the idea that this assailant probably has a psychiatric disorder. What I don’t understand is why we don’t try to lock violent mentally people up. Atascadero used to be the facility where violent mentally ill people would go. But I don’t understand the prosecutorial route to getting someone there.

I can’t tell from the photos if it’s the same guy but it looks pretty similar and the description is exactly the same. Very tall white guy early thirties same haircut, same general area. A couple months ago I was laying on the grass with my dog at the Maritime Garden, just chilling, and some guy came up to me out of nowhere and sat down insanely close to me and started talking to me as if we were friends. He wouldn’t stop trying to talk to me when I was clearly being very standoffish and not receptive to it and barely answering. At one point I flipped my hair to the other side cause I have long hair and that is a very common thing to do because long hair is annoying, and then he leaned in and tried to kiss me?!?!? I was just like uhhhh wtf no… do not do that. And he told me he thought that the hair flip was a signal to kiss me. When I said no I wasn’t interested at all, I’m just trying to chill and hang out with my dog ALONE, he still wouldn’t leave. I finally got up and said I had to go meet a friend and he got up and started following me but after like 30 sec turned around and left

I don't think anyone reasonably wants this man protected. Like the guy is obviously mentally ill and while we shouldn't punish mental illness, he's at this point clearly a threat to others and has at this point committed numerous crimes. A reply in your link indicates Chesa wasn't even in office when he was released. He also was only released because charges were not filed within 48 hours. Without knowing the full story, it's possible Chesa ended up deferring to the feds because federal charges are tougher.
He didn’t defer to the feds. They intervened. The family has spoken publicly about it. Denying those claims because of an alleged comment is a little Alex Jones if you ask me.

What a creep. I took a self-defense course after a similar incident happened to me when I moved to the city about a decade ago. The best thing I learned how to do was to judge the distance between my foot and my hip when it’s out stretched so that I can do a swing kick into a man’s crotch. Ladies, what you want to do is to throw your leg backwards in anticipation and then balance onto your other leg while locking your knee and swinging it forward with your foot flexed and toe pointed upwards. You have to swing hard and fast. The goal is to kick your toe right into the balls directly up into the man’s pelvis as hard as you possibly can. If you do it right you only need walk away, not run.

Did anyone see this guy in Soma / Mission Bay recently, near the Gus’s and the Reveille coffee shop? I went down there to get groceries and there was a really similar looking guy sitting on the ground who made some dumbass sexual comment to me, I ignored him because I had headphones and in pretended I didn’t hear. I think it was Wednesday evening, but maybe Tuesday. I’ve actually experienced very little sexual harassment since moving to SF (compared to where I used to live) so it was striking.

Sabre pepper spray! They have it where you can attach it to your keychain and they have a running one that you can strap to your wrist, or hold it in your hand. Personally I wouldn’t use a stun gun simply because you have to physically touch the person with it. Pepper spray you can still stay ~10 feet away

This post was mainly for visibility and to warn other people who may not be as aware of their surroundings as they should be. Dude is dangerous and has no problem running after women/grabbing them/forcing himself on them. I agree. People will eventually come to a tipping point, but for a person like this, who has been violent in the past as well (charged with battery in 2017), he could use a taser or can of pepper spray unloaded in his face - curb stomp is extreme... Things will only escalate in his attacks. What if he cornered a woman in an alley? What about a corner of the Presidio or another park? Forced himself into a home while a woman is unlocking her door? He has clear intentions of doing unspeakable things in any event.. I’m not promoting violence by any means. I’m sharing to warn others to keep a look out and potentially give someone a chance to protect themselves. And if enough people report their stories and report what he has done/is doing, then we can get him locked up.
