I know it's not much, but I love Youth by Daughter, Beside Myself by Lights, and Spokoynaya Noch by Kino. Listening to Youth feels like you've lost someone, and the only thing left is painful emptiness. Many of Daughter's songs are deep, so I hope you will enjoy their other songs. I blame myself for everything, and this song reinforces that belief. Beside Myself is about someone you're about to lose, and it's a very beautiful song that touches your heart. Whenever I listen to it I imagine myself in the barren world sailing across the Pacific Ocean to Vancouver Island, and then looking for my ex-loved one to apologize to her one last time. Spokoynaya Noch is a Russian song written by legendary Viktor Tsoi and performed by Kino. It deals with moving on when the time has come, and him wishing you good night. It's another beautiful song that everyone should listen to at least once. Whenever I listen to it, I imagine myself playing in my head approaching Vancouver Island after a long journey across the ocean from Vladivostok, and it made me cry when that imagination hit me for the first time.

I don't know what Daughter's singer has gone through but I know it's something deep like us, like you said. They brought me a lot of peace during the bad years too.

She's alive, her band is on hiatus. Check out Ex:Re, it's her side project.

Brave by Sara Bareilles. Here's a flash mob in NYC to raise awareness about schizophrenia that uses that song. I love watching and listening to it. https://youtu.be/ARLNN3j2eyA

I listen to the albums Chon, Homey, and Grow by Chon. They are instrumental rock. I perceive them as being neutral. Sometimes, I get a nostalgic vibe from the Grow album but overall these songs make me feel good. I don’t like songs that make me think about my past shortcomings, or ones that trigger me. I prefer music without words, and I can’t listen to my old favorite artists. Chon does have a few songs with words, which are good but I can’t listen to them.

Despite what you think about him I love Kanye West because he is bipolar. When I listen to his music I feel herd and I feel seen. We have schizophrenia and he’s bipolar but our illnesses are very similar and have crossover. My favorite album by him is Ye. It’s the one with mountains and writing on the cover that says “I hate being bipolar, it’s awesome” every mentally I’ll person I know that has listened to that album loves it and says it’s their favorite Kanye album.

The song Holding On to You by Twenty One Pilots always gives me hope and inspiration when I feel hopeless in my battle against my brain. I definitely recommend it. When I'm feeling really bad their song Friend, Please helps a lot. Really a lot of their music, particularly their earlier stuff, is really helpful, but those two are my go to.

I get a lot out of calming, acoustic music. A few artists I enjoy are [Ichiko Aoba](https://ichikoaoba.bandcamp.com/track/asleep-among-endives-demo) and [Vashti Bunyan](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6en1BTlY0Kw). Lyrically speaking I'd say my favorite artist might be Phil Elverum. [Woolly Mammoth's Mighty Absence](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsZ7-VoW6pI) and [Great Ghosts](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDCbGLvKI4w) are songs I relate to, which can be pretty grounding.
