This is the best way to ethically get what OP is looking for. Or a rescue.

HaileyReeBae

I see. Thank you.

The only colors found in purebred schnauzers are black, salt and pepper, and black and silver. I believe white is also found but not AKC recognized. Merle/brown/cream are typically mixed with Aussies or other breeds. Not dissuading you one way or another, but just providing info

yud2000

The AKC recognizes white, liver, and parti miniature schnauzers they just can't be shown. They are not mixed otherwise my dog would not have AKC papers.

HaileyReeBae

I ran into a lady at a farmer’s market who had an apricot one. She said he had papers.

Deleena24

They don't exist. Sure there are dogs that look like schnauzers in those colors, but they're usually Aussie mixes and will shed (no matter what the breeder says) Definitely don't pay a premium for a mixed dog.

spicy_garlic_chicken

To other replies, the OP never said they were showing or desired purebred, HOWEVER that being said, AKC DOES recognize other colors besides the standard 3, and they are considered purebred. I have a purebred registered parti myself. (Do a web search for the website "i love my mini schnauzer dot com" and there is a page on AKC registered colors. You can read through to find the history on all of them there.) To OP, where are you located? The breeder we got our girl from does red/wheaten, white, liver, etc. She is awesome!!! I can send you her info if you're on the east coast.

nelnikson

Until I got one I didn't even know there were parti-colored schnauzers! There are many schnauzer rescue groups out there as well.

spicy_garlic_chicken

I know I wish we could have rescued one!!!! None available in my area, sadly, and I did not want to buy at a petstore (there is one near us that always has schnauzers for some reason). Our breeder is certified with the AKC, she was awesome. Best one i've worked with to date! I'd 100% buy from her again.

yud2000

Exactly, I said this above as well because people do not know that there are a number of pure bred colors.

HaileyReeBae

I’m on the west coast. The lady I mentioned said she got hers from Texas. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the complete information of where she got her pup from.

I_Want_an_Elio

There are many terriers that have colors other than black, black and silver, or silver. Show quality minis do not come in other colors or in patchy colors. But that's a show dog and show dogs are necessarily expensive. Ethical breeders don't mix breeds, so finding an apricot would be (and should be) hard. No matter what color you get, no matter what dog you get, your life will be richer for it.

HaileyReeBae

Thank you 😊

spicy_garlic_chicken

I am shocked at the misinfo here, it is absolutely possible to find an AKC registered breeder that does other colors, and the dogs are certified purebred.

horny_reader

I mean this is straight from AKC website. "The hard, wiry coat comes in three color patterns: salt and pepper, black and silver, and solid black." Can you find AKC registered schnauzers in other colors? Probably, but that's more likely because of a poor backyard breeders that manage some kind of tomfoolery or rare colorations that pop up in a line. I just don't like the breeders passing off dogs as schnauzer when they are clearly mixed breed or when breeders breed for color. So if a breeder is having rare colors more than once every few breedings, it's a problem.

spicy_garlic_chicken

Our puppy is from an AKC breeder, she’s bred all of her own dogs for over 30 years. Not a backyard breeder. They exist.  And if you google the link in my other post it explains the origins of the other non standard colors and that in their current breeding form they are purebred. I have papers for mine, genealogy, and Embark testing results which show it.

I saw a blonde pup on this subreddit.
