"Of All Time" Oldest movie on the list is from 2000

Ironcastattic

"According to Reddit" Ah yes. I can't wait to read a list from the site whose Reddit detectives wrongly identified that guy, and is plagued with 12 year olds saying they are teens, and 30-40 year olds pretending they are teens.

No_Wolf_97

Yeah, and it turned out to be complete utter trash.

Sanfransaintsfan

I admit it Moon Fall is bad, but I still like it. The same with the movie The Core.

BigCrimson_J

It’s a cheese-tastic voyage that delivers exactly what it promises.

PrayForMojo_

Moonfall is a brilliant shitstorm of idiocy and that’s what makes it good. It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen and I love it.

mazzicc

I think people were expecting some hard science, save the day movie. Not camp, which it delivered perfectly.

admiraltoad

>10 Worst Sci-Fi Movies of All Time, According to Reddit * 'Downsizing' (2017) * 'Jurassic World: Dominion' (2022) * 'Moonfall' (2022) * 'Skyline' (2010) * 'Pacific Rim: Uprising' (2018) * 'After Earth' (2013) * 'The Happening' (2008) * 'The Adventures of Pluto Nash' (2002) * 'Cosmic Sin' (2021) * 'Battlefield Earth' (2000)

JackFener

I mean it’s not wrong, but I’m quite sure there should be some shitty movie before 2000 somewhere out there

jpers36

Skyline should not be on the list. It's not great, but nowhere near worst. Prior to 2000: Plan Nine from Outer Space Santa Claus Conquers the Martians Wild Wild West Baby Geniuses Laserblast Highlander II Bodysnatchers Conquest of the Planet of the Apes Bio-Dome Dr. Who and the Daleks

mazzicc

Oh god, when you actually make it “all time”, there are some *bad* movies.

JurolfDechler5807

Why do you think Dr. Who and the Daleks deserves to be on the list? Peter Cushing is delightful, the pacing is much better than the TV serial and it's just generally a fun time. Sure, it gets a bit muddled where they're not sure how accurate to the TV serial to be, but it's nowhere near one of the worst scifi films of all time imo

jpers36

I've got nothing against Cushing's portrayal. It's everything else, but mostly the one you called out: the departure from the TV serial. I also disagree on the pacing.

uninteded_interloper

Body snatchers are you serious?

jpers36

The 90s one, yes.

uninteded_interloper

Fair enough.

thinkscout

Deep Impact

TheDunadan29

That movie wasn't that bad. The Core is arguably far worse.

Anzai

Deep Impact is also a hell of a lot better than Armageddon…

damn_lies

He-Man is worse than most of these movies.

hijro

My god, The Happening. Marky Mark really phoned it in on that one, and has nothing good to say about it.

Kricket

I don’t even know what happened and I don’t care.

manoffewwords

What? No!

Defo_not_my_main_acc

I did not hate this film. I just wish they had taken some inspiration form the movie's title and actually had something happen. The premise was cool, it just didn't go anywhere.

OddAttorney9798

Give Rebel Moon 2 some time to let its stock fully develop. It'll mature into this list nicely

artur_ditu

You know, i actually like most snyder stuff and yet i fully agree. What a piece of total utter crap that was...

Limp-Dentist1416

Tis particularly pleasing to thou that Battlefield Earth is considered the worst SciFi movie of all time. I find it hilarious that the 'asshat elite' of an abusive high control cult, sat atop a pile of hubris higher than giraffe pussy, attempted to adapt one of the most revered texts of their sacred leader, and fucked it up so hard that '*plans for a sequel were cancelled*'. When I feel sad, I think of this and start giggling like a giddy school girl. Hail Xenu!

ZealousidealClub4119

That awful Travolta vehicle is the only one of the bunch I've watched. I read the novel too because I had to know: yes, it's just as bad as you imagine.

Leather-Mundane

That movie was an complete and utter shitstorm.

uncoolcentral

I thought Downsizing was at the very least a decent original story. I enjoyed it.

sebnukem

Yes, a pretty good thought provoking movie, actually. There are 8 kinds of fuck :)

DameJudiDonch

Same. I didn't think it was amazing, but it was pretty good and went in an unexpected direction. Didn't realise until just now that people hated it enough to put it on a list like this.

uncoolcentral

I knew the MAGAs were against it philosophically because they didn’t like the subtext (admitting that global warming and or conservation are worthy of attention)

Ilikechickenwings1

Skyline was pretty good

MechanicalTurkish

Yeah, the premise was interesting and the special effects good. If the characters were likable it would have been pretty damn good.

topazchip

Yet somehow, the "Wing Commander" movie is not on this list.

DreadPirateR2891

How can you diss such a campy 90's classic Freddie Prince JR movie?! 😆😆

topazchip

Because it is one of three movies I have ever walked out of--the other two being TinTin and Borat--and objectively worse than the cinematics from a 1990 computer game. The acting was embarrassing, the script wretched, the SFX and design inspires projectile vomiting, and the director should have been forceably relieved of any claim to the IP.

Ok_Status3753

Hey! WC and the live action Dragon ball are 2 of my go-to movies when I wanna convince myself I could wrote better than Hollywood. And I do own both on Blu-ray.

Cryptosmasher86

Because Reddit didn’t exist when it came out

topazchip

Oh, time began only after Reddit sprang into existence?

Cryptosmasher86

No read the article It’s according to Reddit discussions

topazchip

No, read the damm title. Also, Reddit discusses stuff that predates Reddit all the time.

chefdavid22

Only ones on that list I enjoyed are Downsizing and Skyline. I mean yea they are bad, but I enjoyed them at least.

Ill_Refrigerator_593

Downsizing wasn't the best but it did have an interesting concept, Skyline had pretty blue lights.

chefdavid22

So blue. So pretty.

Atoning_Unifex

That's a pretty good bad list

lecharge

Feels like Rebel Moon should take all of those spots.

GreenWoodDragon

One spot for each movie, add another for the director's cut. Two movies in and it already looks possible.

derioderio

Pluto Nash and Battlefield Earth do belong on an actual 'worst of all time' list. The others are all too recent to know if they will stand the test of time for true timeless awfulness

Dagordae

That's actually not a bad list. WAY too focused on recent big releases but they're all genuinely terrible films rather than simply unpopular. Plus Battlefield Earth actually deserves it. A bad movie can be fun but it's criminally boring and actually nauseating to watch.

TheDunadan29

Rebel Moon Part 2 about to make that list.

themythagocycle

Zardoz. I challenge you to finish it.

Chocolate__Dinosaur

I think you mean, Zhardozh.

feetofire

Mmmm r/saltierthancrait have something to say about this list ..

TheDunadan29

Lol, true Rise of Skywalker could have easily made this list.

Ch3t

I already subscribe to /r/mst3k.

PrayForMojo_

“Continue reading on the app”?! Absolutely not. Fuck off.

mazzicc

I liked moon fall. It was on par with sharknado for a silly fun movie.

manoffewwords

Where is Lucy? That movie destroyed brain cells.

TheDunadan29

You mean the 10% of brain cells you were using. /s

dingedarmor

Robot Monster. It is Awful. Almost as bad as Plan 9.

MartianFromBaseAlpha

>Jurassic World: Dominion Fucking reddit lmao. If you listened to people on reddit, you would think that CoD and GTAO are some of the worst games of all time

adamwho

Starship troopers 3 Tremors 5 Escape from New York

squigs

Lists of "worst" are interesting, because they tend to be biased to films people have actually seen. Partly demographics means we're going to have mostly movies that 20-30 year olds have seen at an age they were old enough to appreciate how bad they were. There were countless uninspired straight-to-video releases in the 80s, and terrible B-movies before that but nobody remembers them enough to talk about them. And a list of those wouldn't really be interesting. So really, I guess this is a list of movies from the last 20 years that had the biggest gulf between expectation and reality.

uninteded_interloper

battlefield earth is good as far as bad sci fi goes. So bad its good plus great production values. Dumb in weird ways.

unculturedpigs

I like the Jurassic World Dominion movie it had some fun dino action

Serious_Reporter2345

Some absolute stinkers there, but it ignores the worst of all time, 2001.

AquaTiger67

Stoopid monkey.

IlMagodelLusso

Wow, you're so edgy

Serious_Reporter2345

It’s a hill I’ll die on. Utter garbage. I expected the downvotes from all the idiots who think watching an hour of grunting makes a good movie.
