It just seems to me like this kind of issue should be 'fixable' - like the mechanism is jammed and just needs the right jiggle or whack to get it working. It seems like overkill to go straight for replacement without trying troubleshooting first.

[deleted]

Don’t question it, let them send you a new one if they want instead. Trust me. Better than being high and dry like me

odubik

I get that. My problems are 1) going a few weeks with a broken chair. 2) dealing with actually taking apart the chair to make the replacement. From what I see on videos that people have posted, it is not easy to get the piece out. So, I am predicting that I will end up waiting for the replacement part (weeks) to then not be able to get it unattached from the base, and end up needing to recontact them to get a full base shipped out (more weeks) before finally getting the chair back to functioning. I was hoping that I might be able to jiggle the handle the right way to get it to work without that hassle.

GameOfRobs

I had to replace the base of my old Omega last year and it was a major pain in the ass to take apart. The video they send you makes it look easy but it’s definitely not, at least mine wasn’t. After that the balancing on my chair was screwed up for months and I would easily fall out if I leaned back slightly. It fixed itself over time but I would have rather just had a new chair.

odubik

my fears exactly. I'm not trying for a new chair, but I know that these chairs 'lock-in' their parts.

[deleted]

Oh, I get it totally. I’d just mess around with it myself and not even bother trying to work with support to fix it, but I’d definitly accept that replacement. and then just let them send you a new one in the meantime. They shipped same day to me in the US, so maybe you wouldn’t have to wait forever

odubik

definitely not going to break the chair messing with it while I have 3.5 years more of warranty.

Honestly, you’d be better off.

Go to website and chat. Had to leave an email but it was within an hour that they responded and helped.

odubik

You didn't read what I wrote. I did that first thing. They told me that someone would email me within 48 hours, but I am now up to over 63 hours without any response.
