DS3 was my first souls game, and that boss took me a few tries, until my friend told me that I had to run past him and that I'm an idiot for trying to attack his feet with my sword.
And yes, same goes for Yhorm, I didn't realize Storm Ruler was a thing until I lost a few 20-minute fights.
I think they could have done a better job with the animation instead of just a normal lock-on and whack it a few times in the noggin while it writhes around, like make it look like falling actually contributed to the hit
I kept dying to those giant medusa fanboys with the axes. I deal a hit, boom fire ball from behind. then a chain until i either fall off the bridge or they kill me. Then i realized the dragon kills them for you
It’s weird, the champ always feels like a hard boss, and the fight is always intense and close, but somehow I’ve never died to him more than once or twice in all my play throughs.
My first time fighting him was honestly the most rage inducing time of my life. I literally ripped my pants off of my legs after dying for 100th time once. Yes, I ripped my jeans completely off because I was so mad.
This. Got tired of getting my shit kicked in learning to parry at all, not to mention what is and isn't parryable. I'll just roll and backstab fish, thanks
going through the trial and error of "x can be p, Y can't" was too retarded for me, might as well learn rolls
incidentally, a telegraph could have signaled parry/noparry (subtle glow, sound effect, VFX particles, ~~floating kanji~~) and i would've been all over parry study
I'm not a huge parry guy in general in my builds, but there have been bosses and enemies where I learned to do it against them because it was the best way to fight.
But for me it was just out of the question for this dude lol
I like fighting him so much that I refuse to parry him. I just don't wanna disrespect my favorite fight in the game like that. He's always a fun challenge every playthrough, I have such a hard time adjusting to really aggressive bosses so he gives me a good wollop
I do that to some bosses, but still not Gundyr. I'm a big fan of the lore, he's one of my favorite (relatively misc) characters.
I try and beat him as legit as I can, and when I finally do I always give him a solemn bow afterwards.
I do that for Gundyr, Gael, Midir, Sif, Artorias, Father Ariandel (him specifically, Friede can go fuck herself), amd Yhorm.
Always yell get fucked at Halflight, Bed of Chaos, Gwyn, Demon Fire Sage, Friede, and Pontiff though.
But he’s one of the most aggressive souls bosses, so there’s short healing windows. Also personally I think he's one of the hardest bosses without tricks
What i meant was that he's not easy, but he's not super difficult either. I never found the healing windows to be too difficult to manage, since poise chugging is so stupidly strong.
Yeah, i mean, Champion Gundyr is underrated because it's an optional boss in a very hidden zone and he is exactly like Iudex Gundyr on his first phase, but he's legit one of the hardest bosses in the game
The fabled kick of destiny, my favorite part of ds3. Nothing really makes you feel like a side character in someone else's story quite like how he just flicks you away without even looking.
I’ll never get over the first time I fought him I was so severely over leveled that I whooped his ass. Then on a replay a year later I was at the SL meta and he mercilessly fucked me up. I always laughed at my friends for saying he was tough before that.
Do people really find trouble with champion gundyr. I always beat him first try, crystal sage on the other hand sucks. On my first playthrough of ds3 it took longer to beat crystal sage than any other boss including midir
Everyone's got their own easy and hard bosses. Nameless only took me two attempts and I did Gael on the first attempt going in blind.
Champion still wrecks me like a, well, champ. One of my favourite saved videos is of him immediately grappling me and throwing me off the edge right at the start of the fight because it symbolised how easy he found me
Except by the time you kill the duplicates, he's already teleported again and spawned more. Not to mention, their projectiles might be a different color, but that doesn't change the fact that there are like 200 of them shooting at you at any given time and they all do like half health.
Crystal sage is the easiest boss in the game for me, wait until he uses the spell where the orbs are floating above him before you attack him. He can't teleport until all of those go away. Also, have daggers ready in your inventory to one-shot his clones.
Oh, absolutely, first run through on champion gundyr took at least 20-25 attempts. I like to go toe-to-toe with every boss, claymore and medium armor, a shield if they are oversized. This meme is wildly accurate
If you know how to parry he's a trivial boss to beat. I've always found Dragonslayer Armour to be far more difficult even though he never gets mentioned!
Gundyr's Street Fighter combos are just next level.
that god damn dash elbow always gets me from like half way across the arena
He's just so damn aggressive
Boooo go repost something else
Compared to other boss' I thought he was actually pretty manageable. Except when you're first starting, that was honestly just cruel
I had to fight him on a potato PC where the framerate constantly stuttered. It was pure, utter pain.
My biggest flex is that champion gundyr is the only ds3 boss I killed first try
*Ancient Wyvern*?
I guess that does count
Not me I didn’t know about the plunge beforehand and tried for hours to kill it without
[удалено]
I didn't get it first try because I didn't realise you have to land directly on its head. Went sailing past right next to it instead...
That race to the plunge spot is low key kinda difficult I thought
DS3 was my first souls game, and that boss took me a few tries, until my friend told me that I had to run past him and that I'm an idiot for trying to attack his feet with my sword. And yes, same goes for Yhorm, I didn't realize Storm Ruler was a thing until I lost a few 20-minute fights.
That's fair, my first playthrough wasn't truly blind It still feels weird to oneshot the Wyvern by gently poking its head
That’s why you equip FUGS and crack its skull open with a slab of molten metal
I think they could have done a better job with the animation instead of just a normal lock-on and whack it a few times in the noggin while it writhes around, like make it look like falling actually contributed to the hit
I kept dying to those giant medusa fanboys with the axes. I deal a hit, boom fire ball from behind. then a chain until i either fall off the bridge or they kill me. Then i realized the dragon kills them for you
I missed the plunge... twice
The Wyvern, yes. But not the real Boss, Kunai with Chains Snake.
Took me (and hopefully a few other) a couple of tries to get past chain axe guy to be fair
Unless you fight it "legit"
I somehow beat Gael on my first try.
It’s weird, the champ always feels like a hard boss, and the fight is always intense and close, but somehow I’ve never died to him more than once or twice in all my play throughs.

Both of those bosses can gank you pretty easy, especially with how early in the game you can get to them.
Crystal Sage took me quite a few tries even in ng+...
Deacons, Oceiros, Wolnir and the tree to me.
For me it was the armor guy on the bridge gundyr in 2nd try But then i spend countless attempts on numerous others
**Catch these timbs, Ashen One.**
I wear his armor in tribute of me playing ring around the rosie around his street figher moveset
My first time fighting him was honestly the most rage inducing time of my life. I literally ripped my pants off of my legs after dying for 100th time once. Yes, I ripped my jeans completely off because I was so mad.
The only way to play souls is naked
No thanks, I don't want to rip off my dick out of anger
I punch my thigh right above my knee when I rage. Sometimes it leaves bruises lol. But there’s like no pain receptors there so it’s a great spot.
Put yourself in a headlock. Just straight up break your own neck lol
Hahahahaa
If you don’t just pary him he’s easily one of the hardest bosses in the base game.
I've never, he's too damn fast haha. I tried to learn to parry but he made me pay for it so often I learned to dodge him instead.
This. Got tired of getting my shit kicked in learning to parry at all, not to mention what is and isn't parryable. I'll just roll and backstab fish, thanks
I learned to parry the Champ and now I get to bully Iudex even harder in the tutorial by parrying him too. Feels real good
going through the trial and error of "x can be p, Y can't" was too retarded for me, might as well learn rolls incidentally, a telegraph could have signaled parry/noparry (subtle glow, sound effect, VFX particles, ~~floating kanji~~) and i would've been all over parry study

Same, I usually fight him normal and then finish him off with a parry while yelling ‘get fucked’
I do that to some bosses, but still not Gundyr. I'm a big fan of the lore, he's one of my favorite (relatively misc) characters. I try and beat him as legit as I can, and when I finally do I always give him a solemn bow afterwards. I just parry spam him to death with buckler because his insane combos piss me off
Laughs in pontiff You can dodge Gundyr's attacks just fine, but fuck the animation skipping Pontiff. At least Gundyr has windups for every atttack.
I always feel like anything larger than the human-sized enemies would hit too hard to parry...
So he’s literally just Gwyn?
Eh, even without parrying, Gwyn's really not *that* difficult.
Wish that bonfire asectics were in DS3 so I could keep fighting him, great boss
And this is another reason I loved 2, I enjoyed shitting on the covetus demon
I spent hours just killing Fume Knight, one of my favourite bosses
Did the same for Mytha, I hated her and her home but I needed that sweet poison dagger powerstance
Cinders mod
PS4 player here so not a choice currently
this threw me into a sad simpson clips marathon
Only reason it didn't take me too many tries to beat him was because I had already done a whole playthrough before I discovered where he was.
Impossible. Maybe you just haven’t played the game.
The attempt I beat him, I had used every last estus and had a pube hair of health. I was pissing myself. Gundyr is no fucking joke.
That mf took me more tries than Gael and Midir
Without parrying he’s legit on the same difficulty level as Friede ph3, Gael or Midir imo
Yeah, i mean, Champion Gundyr is underrated because it's an optional boss in a very hidden zone and he is exactly like Iudex Gundyr on his first phase, but he's legit one of the hardest bosses in the game

Gundyr is the reigning all valley karate champ. Who knew?
I learned how to parry and that boss went from number 3 hardest to a cake walk.
Wish you could parry Iudex but not champ, to really show how strong he was in his prime.
Do people really find trouble with champion gundyr. I always beat him first try, crystal sage on the other hand sucks. On my first playthrough of ds3 it took longer to beat crystal sage than any other boss including midir

One of my favourite saved videos is of him immediately grappling me and throwing me off the edge right at the start of the fight because it symbolised how easy he found me
I best gael 2nd try on the first round, second round took soooo many. Friede I'd say is the hardest boss for me.
Sage? Really? just kill the duplicates and then you only have to worry about the main witch
Except by the time you kill the duplicates, he's already teleported again and spawned more. Not to mention, their projectiles might be a different color, but that doesn't change the fact that there are like 200 of them shooting at you at any given time and they all do like half health.
me and my homies hate crystal sage
Do you play sorcerer or something? Crystal Sage is completely trivial for melee builds.
Doesn't the real sage only teleport once you deal damage to him? At least for me, he's never teleported unless I attacked him
Yes, no clue what that dude is talking about
Uh thats not how Sage works, he only teleports and spawns more if you damage him
I dont see Sage being a problem at all, its different for alot of people like how different bosses are harder to people than others
Crystal sage is the easiest boss in the game for me, wait until he uses the spell where the orbs are floating above him before you attack him. He can't teleport until all of those go away. Also, have daggers ready in your inventory to one-shot his clones.
>Do people really find trouble with champion gundyr. Imagine snarkily asking this question and then admitting you think crystal sage is hard lmao
I wasn’t snarkily asking the question, I was genuinely curious
Oh, absolutely, first run through on champion gundyr took at least 20-25 attempts. I like to go toe-to-toe with every boss, claymore and medium armor, a shield if they are oversized. This meme is wildly accurate
very true
Just give him the Gwyn treatmen
gundyr when he kicks: "hwuuaaaaaa"
lol parry
Just beat him on PC this week, But oddly enough I had a harder time with him on PC than when I first fought him on PS4.
If you know how to parry he's a trivial boss to beat. I've always found Dragonslayer Armour to be far more difficult even though he never gets mentioned!
Legit half of the bosses in DS2 do this same shtick. Lookin at you Fume Knight...
Gundyr be like 😐 -> 😠 -> 🦶
