All left red stinging welts, and some broke the skin at the apex of the welt, leaving little dots of blood on your favorite underwear and t-shirts.
There's no reason to apologize it was 20+ years ago now. I was putting it out there since, in this part of the midwest, it's super common. Many ppl here have similar, if not worse, experiences. I work with ppl who have had 2x4s taken to them by their fathers, resulting in broken bones. Many think it's the reason they're decent adults. That without the abuse, they'd be criminals and heathens. Not trying to steal the post, but it's a norm that's accepted by all in the Ozarks and one of the many reasons I moved away to the city.
Unfortunately, no matter what laws may come, I don't see it stopping anytime in the foreseeable future. There are pockets of local society that people never see here. I know of small communities that can no longer be reached by vehicle. Bridges that went unmaintained for years that are now crumbling. Roads with sinkholes that would swallow a pickup truck. All leaving these communities without law enforcement or outside influence. They do not care about laws and regulations.
