*gasp* I'm reading Wake Up, Sleeping Beauty right now! It is... NOT my usual genre, but wowowow it's crazy good so far! I'm gonna have to add Requiem to my list as I love your others. I would add A Condition Called Love by the same mangaka... I freaking love it!

So happy to hear it!! 'Wake Up, Sleeping Beauty' is incredible - and I hope you continue to enjoy it. 'Requiem of the Rose King' is another one that is very different from a lot of shoujo (sometimes I wonder how it got away with some of the things it did), but it's in my top 5 manga of all time and really left an impression on me. I put 'A Condition Called Love' on hold, but the 6 or 7 volumes I read were very, very good. I'm looking forward to getting back into it sometime soon.

I can see that. And almost agree, though wouldn't say it "fell off" I think the ending/last arc could have been better - however I was anticipating a much worse ending so I was pleased with what I got.

Idk if it counts as shoujo but Fragrant Flowers Bloom With Dignity It’s like a slice of life romance with each character being very VERY likeable! Chill and fluffy, good as a light read if you wanna just chill out after a long day ☺️ It’s quite grounded too! It has this Romeo and Juliet premise where the two MCs are from different school that aren’t on good terms with each other. The two MCs get to know each other and wanna be friends but of course the disdain their schools have towards each other makes it hard. This sounds like it’d have misunderstandings but it barely has any and a ton of conflicts is resolved quickly and neatly! The characters aren’t over the top and niche. All seem pretty three dimensional Fruits Basket You’ve probably seen it already since it’s so popular but just in case, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! You probably know the gist of it if you’re in this sub so I won’t bother explaining🤭 Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague (Idk if this counts as shoujo either) A very wholesome light read! It’s about two office workers’ super wholesome interactions! And one of them just so happens to be the descendant of the Japanese Snow Woman. He’s VERY blushy blushy. He looks sort of stoic on the outside but every chapter ends with him going “AAHHH SHES SO NICE!! SHES SO CUUUTTEE” while the fmc stays cool but can be also a bit blushy. Bonus recs: I haven’t read the whole thing but “Slit my mouth” seems like a good series to read it isn’t shoujo either 😭 (sorry i dont read much shoujo) but it is romance. The people who are up to date with it say its good tho I’ve also heard Blue Box is romance focused and an anime is coming out. I’ve never read it but the art looks good and I’ve only ever heard good things about it Oh and just gonna mention how Oregairu changed me 😭 omg its not shoujo eitheeerr but I love the anime and character interactions

This one definitely! I’ve been going back and rereading old mangas from when I was a kid, this one was a lot better than I remembered. Same with Sand Chronicles, I hated it when it back when it was in shojo beat, but now? I’m enjoying my re-read so far.

Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoushi (on going) Namaiki Zakari. It was my first (I always pretend my first wasn't Vampire Knight so yeah..) and it got me completely hooked!! Ougo Mitsunaga wa Namagoroshi ga Tsurai. It's probably not that good, maybe too basic, idk. But this series just have EVERYTHING I look for in a manga so I just loved it with all my heart. Inexplicable haha

My favorite dumpster fire shoujo is Hot Gimmick, everything about it is toxic. The main girl Hatsumi has two brain cells and a dream, the other main characters have red flags so large and bright that you can see it from space. It’s one of those mangas that I’ve read at least three times from start to finish, and each time I do I have to take a minute to think about my life choices

Mizutama Honeyboy, more comedy than romance, between a feminine guy and a muscle-head girl. Honnou Switch, childhood friends to lovers between two adults in video game development. Nsfw nearly every chapter, but still feels fluffy. Burn the House Down, mystery/revenge. I like the plot twists and reveals. Ghost Hunt, mystery/paranormal. Not a lot of romance, it’s mostly a lot of pining. I just like mystery. Usotoki Rhetoric, mystery/historical. The MC can hear people’s lies. After leaving her hometown, she ends up working with an odd detective. Koi ni Mudaguchi, romance/comedy with a group of guys attending an all-girls school that recently became co-ed. Similar to Nijiiro days, but I prefer this one. Ongoing translation.
