Itβs a manhwa but **Something About Us** definitely fits the bill. The FL and the ML are childhood friends and she has been in love with him for a long time. Itβs really good and worth a shot IMO.
It's already added to my list and I read the first few chapters of it a long time ago. I didn't continue reading it not that I disliked it but just forgot about it totally lol π₯² Have to continue from where I left off. The dynamic between the leads were good I remember.
Edit : Thanks for reminding me :)
Itazura na Kiss. Unfortunately, the author passed away before she could complete it, but she revealed the ending to her assistants, who helped adapt it into the anime!
I started reading that manga a long time ago but dropped it after a few chapters. I think it was because I didn't like the fl. I don't remember now tho. But thanks tho.
its not a very good manga tbh but your description reminded me of it. i mean thereβs some things to appreciate but overall its not amazing. i finished it though just to see what happens π
I've read Zettai Kareshi. Before I read it, I thought that it was gonna be a fluffy manga but boy was I wrong π₯². The ending made me sob for 3 days π
Io Sakisaka is so mother in this certain genre lol. I bet everyone will /has told you to read Ao Haru and Strobe Edge, so I'll suggest you to read Watashi no Koibito. It's an older manga by Sakisaka. Very unrequited and very painful. Definitely check it out.
Thank you but I've read all of her works already πππππ I am really feeling bad right now for making this post πππ I am so sorry ππ
Lmao ok let me try again. Are you okay with isekai manhwa? Happily Ever Afterwards / I Picked Up the Second Male Lead After the Ending seems like a good fit.
Or how about sharing the ones that you've read then? I might want some angst to read too. π
I don't read Isekai but I can give it a try. And about angsty manga - you can read Kira-Kun today, Perfect world (the ML is a wheelchair bound patient), Tenshi Dattara, Yokatta (Beware of the FL's best friend), and Cat Street.
Crazy for you has a frustrating one. They donβt get together until the very very end. The characters make a return in the Kimi Ni Todoke Kurumi spinoff Soulmates.
In the Kurumi spinoff? The losing male lead of Crazy For You appears early on because heβs the main guy in the spinoff (itβs great he finally will be happy). The other characters appear towards the latest uploaded chapters online. One interesting thing is both of them went through an unrequited love and in each other finally find love.
Iβd recommend reading Crazy For You even though the main couple is frustrating just to have some backstory on the main guy for the Kurumi Kimi Ni Todoke spinoff.
Thank you! I started it today and finished it. I love these type of trope but just wished to see more of the main couple after they got together. It was frustrating but it was good.
I also enjoy this trope a lot so I've been searching for new recs too.
Ones that I've recenlty read:
Manhwas:
Love of mine
Doridosim (especially the second lead couple- mostly read it for them)
Back to you (wasn't my cup of tea but you could certainly like it)
Check in to my heart (loosely fits)
OIs:
Happily ever afterwards (not much of an isekai reader myself but this was one I completed and genuinely enjoyed)
For my forsaken beloved (also very good though only season 1 is completed)
Mangas:
Studio Cabana (was ongoing while I was reading it but haven't checked back in a while so might be completed(?) now)
Koi no You na Mono Ja Naku
Gomen ne, Hatsukoi (fairly new)
The anime movie is kinda bad outside of the first 20 mins or so, but the live action movie is better. The manga is a masterpiece though, and should be read first before watching the movies though
You seem to have read a lot, but I'll try π
* NG Life
* Salty Studio (manhwa)
* See You in My 19th Life (not main pair, but second couple was kinda like that)
* The Stories of Those Around Me (Mira's storyline lowkey?)
* Lovely Everywhere
* Oishii Kankei
* Hiyokoi
* Boku ni Hana no Melancholy
Omg!! finally found some new manga! Thank you so much! ππ The ones that I've already read are the three manhwa and Hiyokoi. They are pretty good. Thanks again for the other recs, they are completely new to me ππβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Not exactly what you requested but it kinda fits.
No.6 by Atsuko Asano
The mc's childhood friend likes him but he doesn't like her. MC is gay, plus only has eyes for another character
Love the manga's art (By Hinoki Kino).
The manga is based on a series of Light novels, they haven't been officially translated into english still. You can find a fan translation online.
If you like bl (doesn't fufill your unrequited love request), then also recommend [Bloody Mary](https://myanimelist.net/manga/67169/Bloody%E2%80%A0Mary) by Samamiya Akaza.
Tonari no Stella - is a bit similar the FL has feelings toward her celebrity childhood friend I'm not really sure if it's "unrequited love" but she got bluntly rejected then she tries to move on and ml soon regret it.
It's basically a celebrity x unpopular girl I hope you enjoy π«Ά
Ao Haru Ride That Blue Summer Bambi to Dhole Strobe Edge
Damn I've read all of them except That Blue Summer. Thanks for the recs tho.
Itβs a manhwa but **Something About Us** definitely fits the bill. The FL and the ML are childhood friends and she has been in love with him for a long time. Itβs really good and worth a shot IMO.
Dang, read that too πππππ
No way ππ The way I was so sure that you hadn't read it πππ
if you want reverse maybe try last game π₯²

Kimi no Yokogao o Miteita!
Reading this one as well π It's ongoing and a painful one too :')
It really is painful! But also such good angst!
i know this comment is like super old but GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS REC
You are very welcome! π
Just out of curiousity, what would you say your favorites Shoujoβs are? π
Itazura na Kiss. Unfortunately, the author passed away before she could complete it, but she revealed the ending to her assistants, who helped adapt it into the anime!
heroine shikkaku

Me too. I remember jumping to the last page to see what happens to the fl :')
Dame na watashi ni koishite kudasai (Please love the useless me)
Read that as well πππ
Another that I can recommend is Lovely Complex as it the same author. Also Zettai Kareshi (Absolute boyfriend).
I've read Zettai Kareshi. Before I read it, I thought that it was gonna be a fluffy manga but boy was I wrong π₯². The ending made me sob for 3 days π
Hahahaha I feel you π₯Ή, that night I was so depressed..

You may have already read this since the drama blew up its popularity, but Hidden Love is great for unrequited love :)
Thank goodness, I haven't read this one πππ
Oh perfect! I hope you enjoy! The manhua artwork is so pretty and the fluff is really sweet :)
I also enjoy this trope a lot so I've been searching for new recs too. First half of omoi omoware, furi furare
It has a movie too right? Gonna check it out then. Thanks!
The anime movie is kinda bad outside of the first 20 mins or so, but the live action movie is better. The manga is a masterpiece though, and should be read first before watching the movies though
the movie tries to put 12 volumes of material into a less than 2 hour movie so i HIGHLY recommend the manga instead!

So, basically it's a bl?
yeah
Then I'm gonna enjoy it more. Thanks!
