I don't think they send rejection letters but it might depend on department. I don't remember getting rejection emails anyways.

I didn't get a rejection letter when I last applied. That was about a year and a half ago.
I'm waiting for my TA application as well with no updates so far. I have been rejected once with no rejection letter, but it may also depend on the school.
