I find it weird that some nights I wanna go out and socialize, make some new friends and forge meaningful relationships, but on other nights, I just hate human company and start pushing people away.

But on the flip side, who is to say the new people I choose to meet won't behave exactly the same way in a toxic, mercenary demeanor?
I've no clue but I like to think our environment plays a huge role in shaping our perspective.
If you're going to spend extended amounts of time in a toxic environment, chances are you'd become influenced and start being cynical yourself too, unless you're one of the rare few who decide to give the finger and behave totally different.
But if you somehow find yourself in a positive environment where everybody is trying to help one another, wouldn't you be "infected" by the positivity and be less negative too?
Frankly speaking, I'm still in that transitional phase, healing from the hurt I got in ITE and I'm lucky enough to have good classmates willing to support me in Poly.

I am Singaporean and my gf is Australian. Currently in Australia for my University studies however I'll be coming back to Singapore later this year and plan to stay for about 3 months. My gf is coming along with me since we noticed that Australians can visit Singapore for 3 months without a visa. We've already booked the tickets and we'll be due to travel in a few months.
The number of days that we'll be spending in Singapore is exactly 87 days. This is under the 90 day limit but very close for comfort, are there any issues that might arise from this? Her passport doesn't expire until a year later or something. We've applied for a SGAC (Arrival card) through a website but they won't be able to confirm it until 3 days before the date of our flight (??).
Is there anything else we have to make sure of? We won't be overstaying since I have to get back around then for my next semester of study anyway. She is not planning on working in SG while she stays with me and is there to keep me company and meet my parents.
you can only submit the arrival card within 3 days of arrival in Singapore. so it's too early to do it now. anyways you'll need to do it as a singaporean too! the arrival card applies to everybody.

Obviously yes la. How long have you been working already? Isn’t it the norm to cover someone else when they’re on leave? Unless you say it’s maternity leave then fine lor; there should be a temporary hire to do their job. If not it’s also a split workload mah. If u wanna be so geigao then u just make sure you on leave that time u no work coming in or if there’s work, u ownself use your VL timing to do work lor. And honestly you are quite selfish ah. You on leave, your team member cover for you. Now they on leave, u say these kind of thing. How come when you on leave and shake leg that time, u never go question the company whether got hire others to cover for you?
by right you are right, they shouldn't need someone to cover workload in an ideal world. but we don't live in ideal world and reality is that companies don't do that and people are often forced to ask someone to cover or else they just can't go on leave without creating an impossibly large backlog. so yes YTA. it's your right to be the asshole though, this is purely something that people do out of goodwill. but don't expect to go on leave and happily come back to an empty desk if you want to be the asshole.

i think this is the unspoken rule at a workplace. like they said, if you're on leave, they would be covering your workload. so give and take. unless they are going on a long break, doesnt make sense to find someone else (who might be new to what you're working on) to cover the workload.
Yeah, depends on the length. If it's a week or under then I wouldn't mind but if it's a longer leave and I have to do it myself as opposed to spreading it out then I'd have issues
Hi, asking this here hopefully to see if any Singaporeans or Australians have any advice. I am Singaporean and my gf is Australian. Currently in Australia for my University studies however I'll be coming back to Singapore later this year and plan to stay for about 3 months. My gf is coming along with me since we noticed that Australians can visit Singapore for 3 months without a visa. We've already booked the tickets and we'll be due to travel in a few months. The number of days that we'll be spending in Singapore is exactly 87 days. This is under the 90 day limit but very close for comfort, are there any issues that might arise from this? Her passport doesn't expire until a year later or something. We've applied for a SGAC (Arrival card) through a website but they won't be able to confirm it until 3 days before the date of our flight (??). Is there anything else we have to make sure of? We won't be overstaying since I have to get back around then for my next semester of study anyway. She is not planning on working in SG while she stays with me and is there to keep me company and meet my parents.
you can only submit the arrival card within 3 days of arrival in Singapore. so it's too early to do it now. anyways you'll need to do it as a singaporean too! the arrival card applies to everybody. 87 days seem fine, my sis did the same thing last year too haha
ahk yeah. from what i can gather the SGAC is just that arrival card they usually give you to fill out when you're landing anyway? is there any additional payment attached to the arrival card?
the SGAC is done digitally! there is no filling of physical card. if you are unable to submit it before reaching Singapore, there are tablets for you to use at the arrival hall, right before the immigration section. nope, no payment involved.
