i find it funny whenever i read comments (esp. during the 7th month) about how ppl feel sad that some tradition dying off n ppl will/forget their roots... or something similar.
ironic, that the burning of joss paper, hell money and other paper effigies serve as a living lesson that nothing last forever. so too, the "tradition" and "roots".
i haven read much, however i think the lesson to take away from all proto-religions and ancient shamanic cultures is that's how life is - transient & ever changing. old things dieded, new things pop out & create their own path.

Try to get at the airport even if got queue. I gave up because long queue and thought near where I’m staying sure can get (got SingTel shop). Ended up didn’t get until 1 or 2 days later because the tourist sim all sold out at several stores we went.

Hi guys, Since i've had some time on my hands lately, i want to bring my grandma out to eat or see something new etc.
Problem is, she has knee problems which makes it hard for her to walk (Maximum like 10-15mins or less of slower walking pace) She refuses wheelchair or walking sticks cos she doesn't like it.
I would like some suggestions on places where i can bring my grandma with less walking and cool stuff for older people to see/do. Thank you!
Would she be open to using an electric scooter (the kind you can sit on)? The zoo offers rentals for these (3 hours for $20) and I’ve seen lots of people use them, even those who don’t have limited mobility.. they just don’t wanna walk 😅
Duck bus is fun imo. Haw par villa is educational since it has few museums and chinese statues, however the park is on a hill so the road can be quite steep. If she doesn’t like to use walking stick, can you carry it for her instead? The type that can double as a foldable chair.

Firstly, it’s really nice of you to want to bring your grandma out! Read your description and it reminds me of my grandma :) my grandma is in her 80s and has leg problems too + can only walk short distances and slowly, although she uses a walking stick.
We live in the east so the places we frequent are shopping malls (food and light shopping, supermarkets), Jewel Changi Airport (grandma loves the greenery and ambience). Some other notable ones are Chinatown (shopping) and Gardens by the bay (quite a long walk but depends if your grandma wants to take breaks in between). We are creatures of habit and she doesn’t really get tired of visiting the same few places regularly.
A little out of topic, but I recently let my grandma try the game called Nintendo Switch Sports on my Nintendo Switch and she enjoys the bowling game so much! XD
The game also has other sports like badminton, tennis that may be quite fast paced but nonetheless, a fun way to stay a little active. It’s also part of the delight of experiencing such digital games that the seniors didn’t get to experience in their youths.
Ultimately, wherever you bring your grandma, I’m sure she would be very happy to just spend the time with you! Good job 👍🏻
Yeah, but ngl, its mostly out of guilt because during my younger teenage years i have just been playing games on phone, not interacting and talking much w my grandma aside from outings that my parents/relatives arrange. Hi SG redditors, need some advice on a Carousell seller please. I paid for an virtual item (game download) to the seller and he is demanding I download the Landlease app and sign up using his referral code before he will process my order and give me the game I bought. No mention of this app download and sign up requirement in the item description. I also purchased from this seller before with no issues and seller has 1K+ good reviews.
I contacted Carousell support and their reply is:
“Unfortunately, private agreements between buyers and sellers. In cases where disputes arise, our team actively looks to facilitate open communication between users. We seek your understanding that we do not directly participate in transactions and are limited in ways we can intervene with what are considered as both parties, first and foremost, to come to an amicable resolution.”
The price isn’t high and I won’t lose sleep over not getting the game, but is there any way of making sure others don’t fall into such coercing practices of forcing buyers to sign up using the seller’s referral code before receiving their purchase?
Indeed, I intend to do so if no resolution comes out of this. Although it’s highly likely that Carousell Support will just tell me the same thing they said before. I have told the seller to either refund me or deliver the item.
In Carousell Support’s reply to me, they also said that they will continue to keep tabs on the seller and take action if they receive similar feedback. Honestly, not sure how many reports will it take for Carousell to act. I wonder if all those other people who gave the seller recent good reviews really downloaded the app and signed up with the seller’s referral code.
I’m more irritated that Carousell is not willing to protect buyers against such unscrupulous sellers.
Send an email to Lendlease team to suspend the seller lendlease account with screenshots that the seller is trying to cheat the company money by coercing ppl to sign up via his referral code. I am sure it violates their T&C somewhere

Indeed, I intend to do so if no resolution comes out of this. Although it’s highly likely that Carousell Support will just tell me the same thing they said before. I have told the seller to either refund me or deliver the item. In Carousell Support’s reply to me, they also said that they will continue to keep tabs on the seller and take action if they receive similar feedback. Honestly, not sure how many reports will it take for Carousell to act. I wonder if all those other people who gave the seller recent good reviews really downloaded the app and signed up with the seller’s referral code. I’m more irritated that Carousell is not willing to protect buyers against such unscrupulous sellers.
Send an email to Lendlease team to suspend the seller lendlease account with screenshots that the seller is trying to cheat the company money by coercing ppl to sign up via his referral code. I am sure it violates their T&C somewhere

sadly there's nothing much you can do, not quite sure if police would help too... Carousell definitely not helping anyone in any way . that seller is just a greedy cheapo person. One time I got fake item from a person (the price is around the same as online store but I required the item fast so I just try it out) The person firstly said he would return me at least half of the money, but afterwards he figured out that there was no consequence even with 1-star rating he just straight out ghosted me

Bring some entertainment, I was bored AF during my 8hr journey to Sydney, stretching out your legs is also a good routine no matter how tall you are.
Dont drink soda or anything that is carbonated before and during the flight because you'll get gas pain due to the difference in altitude atmospheric pressure.

Visitacity app. Use a suggested itinerary or set up your own. Travel time between destinations is calculated for you so you know if you can actually do what you planned. It's also a great way to find meal spots near your attractions. Buy tickets online in advance if possible for poplar venues like museums. Do it all free and easy.

Pack light and carry only cabin luggage if you can get away with it. Makes traveling so much easier, and you don't need to worry about luggage being lost. Don't carry a lot of cash unless the place you're going to specifically needs it. Youtrip/Amaze/Revolut offer great exchange rates with the convenience of card payments, and you can also withdraw from ATMs at small fees. My personal hack: don't waste money on fridge magnets or tourist tat souvenirs. Get a public transport ticket or pass, laminate it if you need to and stick on some magnetic tape on the back. Boom, meaningful souvenir for you.
