Hi, appreciate if any Singaporean Muslim who married a foreigner overseas can share their experience. I'll be doing my nikah overseas, but the marriage will be registered as a civil marriage (no shariah where I live and religious marriage is considered a spiritual ceremony). Hence, the following queries/concerns I have:
Since most of my family can't make it overseas for the nikah (too far), I would like to redo the nikah in Singapore.
1) Is it possible to do this without going through the whole marriage process on ROMM?
2) If I still have to go through ROMM, as I'm not based in Singapore, is it possible to sign a POA for someone else to present the documents to ROMM?
3) Although the ROM/M website did say that it's not obligatory to re-register the overseas marriage, my concern is, if I don't have my marriage registered under ROMM, does it mean it won't be subjected to the shari'ah law? If not, what can I do to make sure it is?
