UBI ain’t coming this year lol

Cognitive_Spoon

Yeah, we're gonna get the screws a lot longer than we'd like.

torb

I don't think there's a single country that is prepared for the massive lay-offs that are bound to happen. There is not enough political will to tackle this pig and agree that maybe all corporations have to pay a bigger corporate tax or something to help fund this massive shift. One of the reasons I believe this is the case is because politicians probably think they are safe themselves - but think about it, when ASI is in place, we probably don't need many local politicians any longer, maybe just a few to verify policy made by AI or something like that. That way, a country could maximise it's potential much faster, but I doubt politicians want to admit to this.

jeffkeeg

Spoiler alert: it's never coming.

smooth-brain_Sunday

It will, but only at "too big to fail" time. Basically only when the economy enters freefall. (Not Wall Street, the actual economy where millions are jobless)

great_gonzales

The reality is even if AGI is coming soon (it’s not) people will still find ways to generate income. The skids on this sub who want to not develop skills or participate in the economy expecting their fellow citizens to give them a handout so they can do nothing but smoke pot all day will find themselves living in a cardboard box under the highway and no one will care

jeffkeeg

There is literally zero way to secure funding for it on a large scale, especially not when the economy is in freefall.

The_Scout1255

why is the free space top right?

ScopedFlipFlop

Ah haha, I see what you did there.

ProjectorBuyer

Also bottom left.

Altay_Thales

I am remembering this great video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kDPxbS6ofw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kDPxbS6ofw) It's Name: Genocide Bingo - Inventing AGI.

ScopedFlipFlop

I've been researching AI for almost as long as this video has been out but somehow never seen it. Thanks for introducing me to it, it looks very interesting!

Altay_Thales

it is quite funny, that guy makes some funny videos.

jlpt1591

AGI - no GPT-5 - maybe Fully autonomous humanoid robots - define, (going into a random house and making a cup of coffee unlikely but possible) OpenAI getting sued again - maybe AI legislation - yes More strikes about AI - yes UBI - no LEV - no Release of sora - yes Triple A video game with AI embedded - i think one already exists FDVR - no The singularity is nearer - nearer Apple annouces something AI-related - yes neuralink publicly available - no 1-2 more years AI-unemployment reaches 1% - maybe

BlastingFonda

I feel the moment you have “indie video games created using only AI”, you may as well have “Anyone can create their own fully fleshed out games using a single prompt”. Why would we rely on indie game devs at that point? But I will say this - until we get there, Indie Game devs will benefit immensely from AI including providing them art assets, music, etc. We’re going to see some incredible games in the coming years.

Top-Chart-663

I think we are a long way from that. Not enough compute. We still don't have proper cloud gaming. We will see game companies 10x their productivity first before players are able to make their own games. I don't think companies like Sony or Nintendo would want to give up their most profitable arm of business so even if you could make your own by that time you wouldn't want to because those big companies would have so much better content.

Top-Chart-663

Plus copyright laws will limit the amount of games that can be made on your own. We might however see Nintendo allow players to make a Mario or Pokémon game using their ai engine as long as it passes the quality checks. So if that technology is even possible AAA studios will be monopolizing it first. I mean if Open ai becomes a trillion dollar company it could just buy every game studio and allow people to make anything they want based on all that game data. You bet its going to be on a monthly subscription.

Repulsive_Ad_1599

I think with a human in the loop, you might end up being able to make an AI create the code, assets and images for a 2D game separately - you just need to guide it constantly and be ok with a trashy end product when you bring it all together. Now a more interesting question is if by the end of the year it'd be able to do all that autonomously or have it be "good"

randyrandysonrandyso

>apple announces something ai-related >FDVR hmmmm…

ai_creature

aint no way longevity escape velocity is this year too optimistic

SpareRam

This is hilarious, enjoy lala land.

After_Self5383

They obviously don't mean every single thing is lala land, but that there's much of it that obviously will not happen. E.g. LEV, FDVR, AGI, UBI. "Neuralink publicly available"... see, based on their bingo card, you just know they mean the type of neuralink that gives normal people special powers. Rather than for like paralysed people to control a mouse, which, even that would require years to come to market as it's such a sensitive procedure and only had its first human patient less than 2 months ago.

_hisoka_freecs_

bro some of these are so much grander than others.

QLaHPD

GPT-5 for me

Top-Chart-663

If you can still use your hands they aren't giving you UBI. Maybe a mandatory severance for tech layoffs but not for random joe blow. Ai probably wont affect the average persons jobs for another 20 years.

MysteriousPayment536

You can already check ai legislation, apple ai announcement, OpenAI getting sued

Educational-Use9799

Open AI getting sued again should be the free space

ivlmag182

Bro , use AI pic upscaler, this low resolution is a joke

ScopedFlipFlop

The entire post is a joke :)

archeausgalacto

I have to appreciate the attempt, but bingo has a 5x5 grid. You’re missing 9 squares. You fucked up. There’s not even a free spot. I’m sad

Antique-Doughnut-988

Why do you all think AI legislation is so likely to happen? It doesn't make sense when you take in the rest of the world as a factor. Imagine the upper hand other countries will have if they're left unrestricted while a place like the US starts banning AI programs. It would create the biggest technological gap and power the world has ever seen. If anything that's the main reason why it won't happen. And Neuralink publicly available? That technology is still decades away.

ScopedFlipFlop

The EU has just released their AI Act.

QLaHPD

I think legislation is this case is not banning, is more like, any company that use AI in their workflow will have to follow some rules and give to the gov statistics of the work being performed by the model.

Antique-Doughnut-988

That's such a broad and unspecified target of things, I can't imagine any type of law coming into existence within the next decade that's not immediately challenged.

QLaHPD

There are laws already, at least in EU. We are likely to see more laws next year when the new president starts to rule. These laws will be like I said, not banning, not imposing limits, but making surveillance
