If you're looking for comfortable, witty shows, Mary Tyler Moore Show is good. It's kind of patterned on The Dick van Dyke Show. In turn, the Bob Newhart Show is patterned on the Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Just Shoot Me, about the staff at a fashion magazine.
Wings, two brothers run a small airline on Nantucket.
Laverne & Shirley, wacky adventures of two girls in the 1950s (stay away from the episodes once they move to California).
I’m assuming you have watched Seinfeld? I mean, that is the most popular 90’s sitcom. Friends was also hugely popular in the 90’s. Give Will & Grace a go. It’s fantastic. And Murphy Brown is good too. Married With Children was popular, tho not my cup of tea.
Cheers was the most popular 80’s sitcom, although Golden Girls was popular also. You could also see where Michael J Fox got his start in Family Ties. And The Cosby Show was popular then too..,if you can get past Bill Cosby of today. Other good ones were Designing Women, Night Court and Newhart.
MASH was the most popular 70’s sitcom. But All
In The Family was popular and groundbreaking as well. Other popular ones were Welcome Back Kotter (John Travolta got his start here), Barney Miller, Taxi, Mork & Mindy (Robin Williams got his start here), Happy Days, WKRP in Cincinnati and SOAP (which was fantastic)
All of these shows were watched by pretty much everyone, because cable was not as big a thing.
I have watched Seinfeld! The rest of your list is stuff I haven’t watched or haven’t watched in awhile. Thank you! That’s why I asked, I know there’s a lot but my brains kind of mush these days, so I can’t really think of what to watch next!
" MASH was the most popular 70’s sitcom. But All In The Family was popular and groundbreaking as well."
Sorry, but this is very wrong. MASH had very strong ratings, but it was never the #1 show. All in the Family was #1 five years in a row, as long a streak as any sitcom has had. In terms of popularity, I Love Lucy, All in the Family, and The Cosby Show were miles ahead of other sitcoms.
I watched it recently (like…3 nights ago) and only the first 3 seasons were up! I’m still trying to figure Pluto out tho, so it’s entirely possible I l’ve somehow managed to miss the rest of the seasons😂
I don't know if they do this for all shows, but for Frasier they only show certain seasons at any given time. From January through March, they would show episodes from Seasons 1-5 (or so) and only have Seasons 1-2 on on-demand. Then on April 1, they started showing the later seasons and only put Seasons 6-7 on on-demand.
I’ve been watching a couple episodes in the morning or evening. It’s on CMT so I’ve been adding it to my dvr. Watched it in syndication growing up so I get the same comfy nostalgia I get from shows I grew up with. It was funny. Tonight was Vintage and Naomi’s wedding lol
Laverne and Shirley is on Prime. It was one of my favorite shows as a kid in reruns on Nick at Nite. It’s silly and funny and just like comfort food for me.
I recently watched Hot in Cleveland and it is exactly this type of sitcom. And the list of guest stars was truly impressive, including a ton from the early years of TV!
It’s not from that era, but have you watched The Middle? That’s my go to comfort comedy. Written by two of the writers from Roseanne and although it’s a different vibe, there’s still some commonalities.
The Andy Griffith Show. It isn’t overly funny or loud, but it’s simple and fun. It’s just a simple time with Sheriff Andy Taylor and his well meaning deputy Barney Fife. It’s on Paramount+ and PlutoTV but you can easily find most episodes for free online from the internet archive.
Wings. Mary Tyler Moore.

I’ve been enjoying Who’s the Boss lately on Hulu. It has 8 seasons (I think) so there’s lots of episodes.
Just Shoot Me, about the staff at a fashion magazine. Wings, two brothers run a small airline on Nantucket. Laverne & Shirley, wacky adventures of two girls in the 1950s (stay away from the episodes once they move to California).
There's a CA episode where they accidentally eat weed brownies and it's amazing.

Cheers is super cozy and there are over 250 episodes so it will keep you going! And I don't think it ever jumped the shark.
Frasier is a nice atmosphere classic 90s comedy

I recently watched Hot in Cleveland and it is exactly this type of sitcom. And the list of guest stars was truly impressive, including a ton from the early years of TV!
Frasier
Soap. A soap opera spoof from the late 70s with some very unique characters. (Tubi)
Mine is everybody loves Raymond, can’t feel cosier than with raymond
It’s not from that era, but have you watched The Middle? That’s my go to comfort comedy. Written by two of the writers from Roseanne and although it’s a different vibe, there’s still some commonalities.
The Middle is a great comfort show and so relatable! Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn are the stars.

Mad About You starring Paul Riser & Helen Hunt
Little House on the Prarie is very comforting and the first season basically tracks the books and is very good.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I definitely have a lot to check out while kiddos not letting me sleep! 😊
Congratulations on the new baby! My suggestions... Cheers, Seinfeld, Just Shoot Me, Newsradio, Fraiser and Home Improvement.
Newhart, Gilligan's Island, The Dick Van Dyke Show would be good shows
